We have seen it during IDF, and now the ACER C720 is officially launched in the USA at an affordable $249.99 price. This 3rd generation Chromebook features Intel’s Haswell architecture (Intel Celeron 2955U) which provides a much better battery life when the processor is idle or performing low-intensity tasks – which is true for a LOT of common tasks these days. Thanks to that upgrade, ACER claims a battery life of about 8.5 hours along with a design that is 30% thinner than its predecessor.

After Intel formally announced its new line of more powerful but still energy efficient mobile processors, it is only natural to hear of tablets and hybrids sprouting up that touts Intel’s Bay Trail chips. Acer Iconia W4 Caught On Video
Posted in: Today's ChiliWe haven’t heard any rumors recently about Acer working on a successor for its Iconia W3 tablet. The Acer Iconia W3 is the first tablet that runs Windows 8 on a 8.1 inch display. This particular tablet was making the rounds in the rumor mill earlier this year before finally being announced by Acer a few months back. A video has surfaced online which apparently shows off the Acer Iconia W4 820 tablet, the successor to the W3.
Acer hasn’t officially said anything about this tablet, so it is not known at this point in time when the W4 will be released and what it will cost in different regions. An announcement is yet to be made, so that will obviously come before the actual release. The Acer Iconia W4 820 is rumored to have a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3740 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, an 8.1 inch IPS LCD display with 1,200×800 pixel resolution, 32GB of onboard storage as well as a 5 megapixel rear and a 2 megapixel front camera. The keyboard dock that works with the current Iconia tablet is said to work with the W4 as well. OS is said to be Windows 8.1 with a free version of Office 2013 Home & Student Edition pre-installed.

Acer Iconia W4 tablet spotted at event with Bay Trail chip, IPS display (video)
Posted in: Today's ChiliThere have been persistent rumors of an upgraded Acer Iconia W3 tablet with an IPS display and, quite possibly, a faster Bay Trail-based processor. Those rumors are now reality, as Bouweenpc.nl has just tried an unannounced Iconia W4 at an Intel event. True to expectations, the 8-inch device was carrying both the new 1.33GHz Atom Z3740 processor and a much improved “wide view angle” (read: IPS) screen. Not much else may change, however — the pre-release slate still carried the W3’s 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Given that the W4 is running Windows 8.1, we wouldn’t be surprised if it reaches the market sometime around the Windows update’s launch in October. Check out Bouweenpc.nl‘s hands-on video after the break.
