Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Gamescom Trailer

We have seen our fair share of trailers in recent days, especially with the deluge of gaming news that has flooded the press thanks to all that is happening at Gamescom. There have been high profile titles being given the trailer treatment, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is one of them. Known as “The Savior’s Choice”, this particular trailer will transport you into The Wildlands; which happens to be an unforgiving patch of wilderness which will see Lightning reunite with Chocobos, Moogles and of course, an old ally who goes by the calling card Sazh. Not only that, in the trailer above, you will be able to check out just what Lightning’s unique battle abilities are, where one of them would include her super attack that is aptly known as “Army of One”.

As an added incentive, for those who place a pre-order for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, you will be on the receiving end of an exclusive Cloud Strife Solider 1st Class DLC that is derived directly from Final Fantasy VII, and this will be free. Yes sir, that means you need not fork out an additional cent for it, and this epic throwback pack will include the iconic Soldier 1st Class Uniform, Cloud’s Buster Sword, Soldier Band, Finishing Animation, and the timeline Victory Fanfare.

Final Fantasy VII Figures Created Through 3D Printing

Final Fantasy VII Figures Created Through 3D Printing

3D printing has made some amazing products ever since it’s been made available to the public a few years ago. 3D printing has made it possible to print the face of your unborn child, has saved the life of a baby as well as a duck. This time, 3D printing has gone to be used for something way more important than saving lives: printing Final Fantasy VII characters. 3D Printed Final Fantasy VII Characters: Materia-lized

Final Fantasy VII was the first game in the FF series to have 3D graphics. Those graphics probably look laughable now, but the squished low polygon rendering of the characters make for really adorable figurines. Look! It’s freakin’ Biggs and Wedge! Well, Gaia’s Biggs and Wedge.

The figurines were designed by Joaquin Baldwin and are printed using full color sandstone. All of the main heroes are included along with some of the villains and many of the secondary characters, including Sephiroth, Zack Fair, a Moogle, a Chocobo and the Turks.

Ride on Cid’s airship and head to Shapeways to order the figurines. They cost between $13 to $32 (USD) each. One funny thing about this set is that Joaquin seems to have priced each figure based on the amount of material needed to print it. This means Cait Sith and the Chocobo are the priciest ones, even though Cloud, Sephiroth and many others in the set are more popular than those two. The cheapest of course is Barrett’s kid Marlene.

Elizabeth Sherry’s Classical Videogame Art: Geek Mythology

Illustrator Elizabeth Sherry likes to make classical-style art based on videogame characters. No, not 8-bit. She went way more old school than that. Her digital paintings even have cracks and creases on them to make them look really old.

The one above is my favorite, but her Mario still life is a close second.
