LG G Pad 8.3 Receives Android 4.4 KitKat Update In US And Europe

LG G Pad 8.3 Receives Android 4.4 KitKat Update In US And EuropeIt was sometime in late March that the LG G Pad 8.3 began to be on the receiving end of the Android 4.4 KitKat update, although that particular roll out happened to remain within the confines of South Korea only. Fast forward to today, and here we are with word that LG G Pad 8.3 owners who happen to live in the US as well as in Europe will be able to grab this update via an Over The Air (OTA) update, which would mean dancing to the Settings > About and ‘Check for updates’ tune all over again, if it has not received the update already, that is.

For folks over in the US, it does seem that one will need to rely on LG’s desktop software in order to pick up this particular update. Doing so is not too difficult at all – all that you need to do is to locate LG’s support website, download the company’s desktop PC software, before you make use of that to perform the Android 4.4 KitKat download before transferring it over to your tablet. Sure, it is a whole lot less convenient, but at least you will have your LG G Pad 8.3’s update future fall directly into you hands.

LG G Pad 8.3 For Verizon Leaked

LG G Pad 8.3 For Verizon LeakedBack in 2013, LG announced a new tablet in the form of the LG G Pad 8.3. The tablet packed some pretty decent specs and according to the rumors, it was also expected to make its way onto Verizon’s network where presumably we would be able to purchase the device with 4G LTE connectivity. Well the good news is that thanks to the ever reliable @evleaks, a press rendering of the LG G Pad 8.3 for Verizon has made its way online. Unfortunately @evleaks did not mention when we might be able to expect the tablet to be announced by Verizon but given that the tablet has been out for a while now, we can only hope it will be soon when Verizon makes the announcement.

In case you missed our coverage and our review from last year, the LG G Pad will sport an 8.3-inch 1920×1200 IPS display with a pixel density of 273PPI. The tablet will also be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and will be available in either 16GB or 32GB storage options. Unfortunately it will only arrive with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but hopefully we will see it updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future, or at least before it is announced for Verizon. Also based on the rendering, it looks like apart from your usual WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, the G Pad 8.3 will also support Verizon’s 4G LTE networks.

LG G Pad 8.3 Rumored For Verizon

LG G Pad 8.3 Rumored For VerizonBack in September 2013, LG announced their new tablet, the LG G pad 8.3. Well the good news is that if you were hoping to get your hands on the tablet, @evleaks has revealed that the tablet will be making its way onto Verizon’s network, although he did not mention when exactly that will be, but we guess if the leaks are beginning to make their way online, hopefully an announcement by Verizon regarding pricing and availability will be announced soon. However be sure to check back with us in the near future for more updates.

For those who are learning about the LG G Pad 8.3 for the first time, this is the latest tablet released by LG. The handset will sport an 8.3” 1920×1200 IPS display with a pixel density of 273PPI. LG V510 Tablet Might Be The Nexus 8

LG V510 Tablet Might Be The Nexus 8

There has been a lot of speculation about the Nexus 10 2013, particularly about its release, because Google hasn’t dropped any hints about the tablet as yet. So far the company has released refreshed models of its Nexus smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet, it is yet to unveil a refreshed Nexus 10. Some believe that the tablet might be manufactured by LG, and previously a codename had emerged which was attached with the tablet. Though as per a service manual that has surfaced in China, the LG V510 might be the much rumored Nexus 8 and not the Nexus 10 as initially believed.

The service manual reveals that LG V510 has an 8.3 inch display, so this can’t obviously be the Nexus 10 if the manual is indeed legitimate. The V510 is said to have a 1,920×1,200 pixel resolution display with a 2GB RAM, 4,600mAh battery, 5 megapixel rear and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The dimensions of the V510 are quite similar to LG’s G Pad 8.3 tablet, so there’s a possibility that this might be regional variant of that tablet, because the leaked service manual doesn’t contain any Nexus branding. Google hasn’t even confirmed the manufacturing partner for the Nexus 10 tablet, it was rumored that the tablet might be unveiled today on Cyber Monday, but so far nothing has come out from Mountain View. lg-gpad-83Well, it has been some time in coming, but the LG G Pad 8.3 is now available in the US just in case you are interested in picking up this particular tablet. Being part of the South Korean company’s premium “G” range of mobile devices, the LG G Pad 8.3 is now available for purchase online from BestBuy.com, in addition to other in-store retailers for $349.99 a pop as November 3rd rolls around. For starters, the LG G Pad 8.3 would be able to offer easy-to-sync connectivity regardless of which Android-powered mobile device you use, including the new LG G2, thanks to QPair. QPair would work on the LG G Pad 8.3 by allowing users to enjoy a seamless extension to their Android smartphones, as it opens up simultaneous access to a variety of options such as recently opened apps, incoming calls, and text messages among others. Not only that, the LG G Pad 8.3 would also allow its users to reply to texts and use LG features such as QuickMemo in order to capture and comment on images.

Your eyes will definitely appreciate the generous 8.3” Full HD IPS display that sports 273 pixels per inch, delivering sharp detail, clarity and high-definition imagery without batting an eyelid. LG G Pad 8.3 Sees 14th October Launch In South Korea, Rest Of The World To Follow After

LG G Pad 8.3 Sees 14th October Launch In South Korea, Rest Of The World To Follow AfterBack in September, LG finally took the wraps off their latest tablet, the LG G Pad 8.3. Unfortunately at that time, LG was a bit vague on the timing of the tablet’s release, only giving us a rough end of the year time frame, along with possible pricing (although it has been speculated that it could cost $299). In any case LG has recently announced that the LG G Pad 8.3 is expected to go on sale in South Korea come 14th of October and that its availability on other markets will follow shortly. Once again no specific dates were mentioned, but we can only imagine it shouldn’t be too long following its South Korean release.

The tablet will see a price tag of 550,000 Won, which roughly converts to about $510, making it a somewhat pricey tablet as opposed to its rumored $299 price tag that would allow it to compete with the likes of the Google Nexus 7. No word on how much it will cost when it arrives stateside, but hopefully its price tag in South Korea will be good enough indication. The LG G Pad 8.3 will sport an 8.3” 1920×1200 display and pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset under the hood clocked at 1.7GHz. It will sport several features of the LG G2, such as the Knock-On feature that will lock/unlock the device.

Hands-on with the LG G Pad 8.3 (video)

Handson with the LG G Pad 83 video

LG announced its new slate, complete with specs, ahead of IFA, but the tradeshow is our first opportunity to see the G Pad 8.3 in the flesh — or in the aluminum package, as it were. The company is positioning this tablet as the first full HD tablet in the 8.0-inch category, and as the device best optimized for one-handed use. Specific as those distinctions may be, they do sound pretty appealing.

First thing’s first: the G Pad 8.3 in our hands today is not the final version that will ship at the end of the month. LG likely has some software kinks to work out, but it’s safe to say that today’s model gives us a good idea of what consumers can expect. The G Pad is part of LG’s flagship G series line, which includes high-end handsets like the Optimus G Pro and the recently announced G2. As such, this guy looks like a bigger version of its smartphone siblings, which is to say it looks quite nice. The bezels are almost non-existent, and the backside features a silver aluminum backing — it’s a nice contrast to the Pad’s black or white plastic finish. The 8.3-inch, 1,920 x 1,200 IPS panel provides the vibrant colors and excellent viewing angles that you’d expect; we’ve seen similarly high caliber displays on other LG devices like the Optimus G Pro.

At 338 grams, the G Pad is extremely light; a rep made sure to point out that some paperback books even weigh more. Less weight means the tablet is easier to hold in one hand — even with LG reps talking up the device’s featherweight footprint, we found it surprisingly insubstantial. More than the weight, though, the device’s 126.5mm width makes it quite comfortable to use. And guess what? It can also fit in a jacket pocket, which may or may not improve your life dramatically. LG utilized data collected by the Korean government about the average hand size in order to arrive at an optimal width for the tablet. We found the slate quite comfortable to grasp with just one hand; it didn’t feel like a stretch to grasp across the device.%Gallery-slideshow79665%

LG G Pad 8.3 set to debut at IFA 2013

lg-gpadThe world of Android powered tablets is certainly one that has many choices to pick from, with the gamut of manufacturers out there who are all set to fight for their slice of the pie. If you are an ardent fan of South Korean consumer electronics giant LG, then you would definitely be more than pleased to hear that they are all set to debut the LG G Pad 8.3 at IFA 2013 that is happening in Berlin, Germany, later this week. This is the latest addition to the G Series range of premium mobile devices, where the all-new LG G Pad 8.3 will boast of the distinction of being the first Full HD display that arrives on an 8-inch class tablet, offering a special user-experience and a wide range of connectivity features.

You might think that something with such a large display would offer a poor performance in terms of battery life, right? Wrong! Despite its relatively generous display size, the LG G Pad 8.3 will still manage to come in a slim and sleek profile which will not be awkward when you hold it in your hands, and this compact portability hails from LG’s ability to pick up their consumers’ wants and needs concerning a tablet’s size. Without sacrificing on its portability, the LG G Pad 8.3 will still manage to pack in a powerful 4,600mAh battery so that users get to enjoy long-lasting usage time without building up their biceps at a feather light 338 grams.

As for the rest of the hardware specifications of the LG G Pad 8.3, it will come equipped with a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA (Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array) display which offers a picture quality that is even higher in resolution compared to a standard Full HD display. Not only that, it will be powered by a quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, boasting the unique QPair app that will allow every call and message received on a smartphone to appear on the G Pad as well, delivering a true convergence experience. You can then send simple replies via the LG G Pad 8.3 over QPair, making it a snap for the G Pad to hook up easily to other manufacturers’ smartphone and tablets (although Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher is recommended). Pricing details remain to be announced, but all should be revealed at IFA 2013 later this week.
