Netflix Is Thinking of Making Original Movies Now, Too

Netflix is no stranger to making original TV anymore, but it seems it has bigger plans than that: it’s floating the idea that it’ll foot the bill for a “big” movie, which would appear in theaters and on Netflix at the same time.

iPad Mini With Retina Display Pre-Orders Could Start 1st November [Rumor]

iPad Mini With Retina Display Pre Orders Could Start 1st November [Rumor]Without doubt many are pretty excited about Apple’s upcoming iPad mini with Retina display. After all having such high resolution crammed into such a small screen would undoubtedly produce pretty damn sharp images, but the big question on everyone’s minds is when can they get their hands on the tablet? Apple’s website states that the iPad mini with Retina display is pegged for November, but no specific dates were mentioned, unlike the iPad Air which is set for a release on the 1st of November.

Well according to the rumors, it has been suggested that the tablet will be available for pre-order come 1st of November, which is when the iPad Air goes on sale, although there’s no telling when the tablet will be released following its pre-order, but if we had to guess, chances are it should be about 1-2 weeks after pre-orders go live, if Apple’s past behavior is anything to go by. It is unclear as to why the iPad mini with Retina display is launching later, but previous reports have suggested that supply constraints, due to problems with the Retina display, could be the reason why the tablet is launching later. In any case we’re only a few days away from the 1st of November, so try not to get your hopes up just yet.

BBM Rumored To Arrive On Windows Phone As Well

BBM Rumored To Arrive On Windows Phone As WellRight now BBM is available for BlackBerry (naturally), and recently iOS and Android, but what about Windows Phone? Will BlackBerry be sending some love Microsoft’s way? Well according to Twitter account, BlackBerry Leaks, the answer is yes. The tweet has claimed that BBM will eventually be making its way onto Windows Phone, essentially covering all the major smartphone platforms out there. Of course there’s no telling if this rumor is true but it would make sense that BlackBerry would love to cover all their bases, even if the Windows Phone platform is considered to be their closest rival at the moment.

It was speculated that BBM would skip Windows Phone simply because Microsoft was BlackBerry’s biggest competitor, but we guess covering more ground does make sense to a certain degree as well. In any case like the tweet says, the app will arrive on Windows Phone as a web, tablet, as well as a desktop version. It is not clear if this applies to only Windows-based devices, or if the tweet was referring to all tablets (including iOS and Android tablets), so take it with a grain of salt for now and we’ll wait and see if anything comes from it. In the meantime, are Windows Phone owners excited that BBM could potentially be making its way to your device?

Xbox One And Xbox Live Apparently Very Buggy, Could Pose Problems At Launch [Rumor]

Xbox One And Xbox Live Apparently Very Buggy, Could Pose Problems At Launch [Rumor]When new products and services launch, there is bound to be teething problems and we guess Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One and Xbox Live will not be any different, at least that’s according to a NeoGAF user who posted the rumor on his blog. According to the poster, his information comes by way of an anonymous developer working with the Xbox One who claims that both the Xbox One’s operating system and Xbox Live service for the Xbox One are in an extremely buggy state at the moment and it could actually be months before both the console and the online service will begin to function as it should.  According to the anonymous developer, “The system OS and network integration was written by a group of people who do not play games. They don’t understand why things were set up in the ways they were designed by J Allard back in 2005.”

When asked if it was possible that these bugs were the result of Microsoft backtracking on their DRM policies, the developer stated that “this was happening either way.” Take these statements with a grain of salt for now, but like we said, most products and services usually launch with problems at the start, such as servers overloading and causing gamers to be unable to login, or software whose bugs were not caught during the beta phases, and etc., and it is usually after a while that things begin to settle down, but either way we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled during console’s launch to see if any of these statements are true or if they are simply fabricated to make Microsoft look bad.

Alleged Canon EOS 7D MK II Spec Sheet Leaked

Alleged Canon EOS 7D MK II Spec Sheet LeakedThe Canon EOS 7D MK II camera has been rumored for some time now, although at this point in time there has been nothing to suggest that Canon will be announcing the device in the near future, but thanks to a recently leaked spec sheet, it seems that the specs of Canon EOS 7D MK II have been revealed. The alleged spec sheet does corroborate what we have heard in the past, but given that the device has yet to be officially confirmed, take it with a grain of salt for now. So what can photographers look forward to in the EOS 7D MK II?

Well for starters the camera is rumored to sport either a 20MP or 24MP sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF. It seems that Canon has yet to finalize on a sensor which is why it is a toss up between either sensor for now. It will also feature an AF system similar to the EOS 5D MK III with 61-points, a high frame rate between 10-12fps, high-grade weather sealing, a Dual DIGIC V+ processor, WiFi and GPS connectivity, and will be priced around $2,000. It will also apparently offer “very good” ISO performance along with “innovative” video features and is rumored for a possible announced in March 2014. Like we said this is hardly the official spec list so take it with a grain of salt for now, but photographers what do you guys think? Are these specs a worthy of an EOS 7D successor?

Android 4.4 KitKat Will Be Reportedly Focused On TV

Google is rumored to unveil Nexus 5 as well as Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future, but the company still hasn’t said exactly when it is going to make these announcements. We’ve already heard and seen a lot about the Nexus 5, and even though Android 4.4 KitKat screenshots have leaked time and again, there’s really not much information available at this point in time regarding the changes that have been made. According to a new report by Korean publication ETNews, Google might be focusing on the TV experience with the next iteration of Android.

It has already been rumored that the company is looking to rename its TV offering to Android TV. As per the report, Google has “greatly improved” the user experience as well as the user interface of its TV offering. Improvements have reportedly also been made to the app development environment, and rumor has it that changes have been made to the interface between the TV and smart devices. All of these changes are expected to come with Android 4.4 KitKat, along with the major change of rebranding the entire offering, replacing Google TV with Android TV. A latest rumor suggests that the Nexus 5 announcement takes place on November 1st, hopefully Google will take more about Android 4.4 then, and reveal to the world if it has any intentions of pushing harder into the TV market.

Google is building a floating data center, suggests a long trail of circumstantial evidence

A CNET reporter recently tracked down the meaning and nature of a barge moored to Treasure Island, a former Navy base in San Francisco Bay. The barge, which has been built up with shipping containers to resemble a floating, mostly windowless, four-story building, largely matches a Google patent for a floating data center filed in […]
