Why School Buses Are Yellow

Why School Buses Are Yellow

School buses are the primary mode of student transportation in North America. An estimated twenty-six million students in the United States alone are transported to school every school day via bus—over half the student population in the country. While school buses in countries outside of North America usually look like any other buses, North American school buses are distinctive for their yellow color.

Luxford St’s LEGO Block Bag: Not Official, Still Officially Awesome

I have to say that even though I’m no longer a kid, I still love LEGO bricks. They are great for building pretty much anything you get your mind set on, and you don’t always need the fancy kits to make great stuff. This LEGO bag isn’t official LEGO merch, but that doesn’t make it any less awesome.

The LEGO Block Bag is supposed to be scale replica of a yellow LEGO brick, made from 100% cotton denim, with an unbleached creamy yarn running through it. There are little flecks of brown and cream, giving the denim a colorful variation throughout its surface. The bag is big enough to carry around a couple of gadgets and books – or a few hundred LEGO blocks.

Sadly, this particular bag sold about two weeks ago, but there are other LEGO-inspired items available from Karen Booker’s Luxford St. Etsy shop.

Pikachu Yellow Nintendo 3DS XL Hits Europe December 7

If you live in Europe and have someone on your Christmas list who wants a new Nintendo 3DS XL, you’ll have a couple of new options to choose from in time for holiday shopping. The most interesting of the new 3DS XL consoles is one that Pokémon fans will love. This version will come in a bright Pikachu yellow color.

Sadly, the handheld includes no bundled video games and doesn’t even have an AC adapter. Apparently, Nintendo is no longer offering AC adapters with their handhelds in Japan or Europe, but will continue to include AC adapters in North America.

If Pokémon isn’t your thing, there are two different white 3DS XL bundles coming as well. One of the white systems will come with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed. That version will launch on November 16. The other white model comes with Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed. That system will be available on the same day the Nintendo Wii U launches, November 30.

There’s no word on a North American release for either the Pikachu or white 3DS XL.

Pikachu Yellow 3DS XL to hit Japanese shores, require a pre-order for purchase

Pikachu Yellow 3DS LL to hit Japanese shores, require a pre-order for purchase

Nintendo handhelds are no strangers to new coats of paintor Pokemon, for that matter — and now the firm is readying a Japan-exclusive Pikachu Yellow 3DS XL (officially the LL for locals). The brightly colored clamshell features a white interior and the electric rodent’s visage on its lid with his tail trailing onto the underside. Priced at ¥18,900 (roughly $238), the portable will only be available at Pokemon Center stores throughout the Land of the Rising Sun on September 15th for those who pre-order between August 25 and its release. Gamers in North America may not be able to snap up the uniquely hued system, but this weekend’s launch of the 3DS XL in red and blue could provide a small measure of consolation.
