Cowon shipping iAudio 10 PMP tomorrow: $160 and up

Remember that stunner of a PMP that Cowon teased us with back in September? Better brush up, ’cause she’s shipping out in the US of A starting tomorrow. The iAudio 10 is — for all intents and purposes — a refreshed and re-imagined S9, boasting a curved 400 x 240 (3-inch) display, microphone input, TV output, FM radio and a document viewer. Unlike the D3 before it, the company looks to be eschewing Android on this one for its own homegrown operating system, and in typical Cowon fashion, it’ll support practically every file format under the sun. The I10-16WH (16GB) will ship in white for $159.99, while the ebony I10-32BL (32GB) edition will go for $199.99. We’re told that the Buy It Now link will be live tomorrow, and we’ll update this post just as soon as it arrives in our hands.

iPhone 4S gets official date and blessing by C-Spire, all yours on November 11th

Oh, heck yeah. We’ve already been delighted by the news that C-Spire (the hip carrier formerly known as Cellular South) is the lucky recipient of the iPhone 4S, but we now have a date — and it’s coming up pretty fast. Both the 4S and the 4 will be ready for your purchase on November 11th, unsurprisingly for the same exact cost as the big three national carriers: $99 for the 8GB iPhone 4 and $199-399 for the iPhone 4S, but the deal’s sweetened by the offering of unlimited data (though the two lowest plans exclude streaming). If you’re down with that, it’s a good idea to head over to the site and get pre-registered as soon as possible. Now that the little guys officially have the iconic device, who’s next? Full press release after the break.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

LG myTouch, myTouch Q available on T-Mobile November 2nd for $79

Magenta’s taken to its Facebook wall to announce the availability of its latest LG-made, Android 2.3.4 phones: the 3.8-inch myTouch and 3.5-inch myTouch Q. Word of these handsets’ existence leaked out via YouTube a few months back, but the carrier’s since made both official. The duo will hit T-Mobile’s site on November 2nd, each at a budget-pleasing $79.99 — that’s after a mail-in rebate on a two-year contract. But if you’re the sort to pick up your wares in-store, then expect to see this pair on offer come November 9th. What’ll you get for that sub-$100 price? Well, the devices run along the operator’s 4G HSPA+ network and pack a single-core 1GHz Qualcomm processor, as well as front-facing / 5 megapixel rear cameras. The only thing setting these two apart is your predilection for a landscape QWERTY slider, in which case you’ll want to snag the Q. So, if you’ve been waiting on T-Mo to roll this twosome out of the gate, consider tomorrow your lucky day.

iHome iW1 AirPlay wireless audio system finally available now, again, sort of

Remember back to September 26th when iHome’s iW1 AirPlay speaker was supposed to be available? Curiously, the company’s website continually listed the $300 system as “coming soon” (at least the times we checked), leaving iOS and iTunes users yearning for this cable-free audio ware in the proverbial dust. Now, a full month later, iHome has again announced the release of this flagship wireless speaker, even though it’s still out of stock itself. According to the company, a quick trip to an Apple Store, Best Buy or Crutchfield should let you snag one, although, the latter’s site won’t have any until November 3rd. Here’s to hunting — and waiting for the smaller iW2 and iW3 units to get proper release dates. Full details in the press release after the break.

Gibson’s Firebird X robot guitar finally ready to ship after a very, very long delay

Gibson Firebird X

Like the Droid Bionic of the guitar world, the Firebird X was announced almost a year ago, packed with piles of impressive technology, and delayed so many times that practically everyone forgot it existed. Well, on September 30th the Firebird X will finally start filtering into retail channels for the rather excessive price of $5,570, in your choice of either Redolution of Bluevolution finishes. On board are a boatload of effects as well as an automated tuner, which we’ve come to expect from the so-called “robot guitar” series. The Pure-Analog sound processing engine is also open to developers, allowing owners to add on new effects and sounds down the road. But, enough with our ramblings. You know the drill, gallery below and PR after the break.

Windows Server 8 and Azure platform introduced, Metro-style app building starts today

Server and Tools Business President Satya Nadella, amongst others, took the stage at Build today in order to showcase something a bit less consumer-facing: Windows Server 8 and the revised Windows Azure platform. Fret not, though — this all plays a vital role in how you’ll be enjoying Windows 8 in the months to come. A Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview will be made available to coders starting today, enabling devs to concoct Metro-style applications with HTML 5, JavaScript, C#, Visual Basic and C++. We’re told that the Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview is available today for Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers and will be made available to the public on Friday. Microsoft also announced that Server 8 would provide multi-tenant infrastructure for cloud services, while the Azure Marketplace would expand to 25 new nations in early October. Those hoping to dig deeper can head on past the break (and visit the source links below).
