Clutching at its chest and panting as it nears the finish line, T-Mobile has finally announced the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on its not-quite-4G network. You can write November 2nd in your diaries as you struggle to remember which century it was that you decided to wait for the as yet unpriced magenta version of the tablet. T-Mobile’s Springboard will be arriving five days later, on November 7th. The Huawei Mediapad-with-shiner-shoes packs a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 5 megapixels in the rear, 1.3 up front and has a crunchy Honeycomb center. Inexplicably, the company still won’t ‘fess up about pricing for this guy either, so we’ll just repeat what we’ve heard a hundred times before — it’ll be under $200 on contract.

It’s taken a long time for Nokia’s MeeGo-packing N9 to make its way into our top secret labs (the N9 moniker was first applied to early E7 prototypes), but it’s here in our dirty little hands, at last, and it’s glorious — well, as glorious as a stillborn product can be, anyway. The N9 is the latest and greatest in a long line of quirky, interesting, yet ultimately flawed touchscreen experiments from Nokia that includes the Hildon-sporting 7710, a series of Maemo-based “internet tablets” (770, N800, N810, N900) and most recently, the N950 MeeGo handset for developers. What makes the N9 special is that it represents Nokia’s last flagship phone as an independent player. MeeGo is already dead, and future high-end devices from the manufacturer will run Windows Phone and use Microsoft’s services. So, is this the company’s final bittersweet hurray? Did MeeGo ever stand a chance against Android, iOS and Mango? In its attempt to stay relevant, is Nokia throwing out the baby with the bathwater? A surprise Ice Cream Sandwich handset this is not — for that news, you’ll have to wait until later tonight. No, RIM’s portrait QWERTY slider may not be the freshest bit of kit in the smartphone arena, but for those dedicated CrackBerry few on T-Mobile, it’s 14.4Mbps speeds just might be enough. A leaked screenshot over on TmoNews shows the Torch 9810, currently available on AT&T, alongside a list of its well-known specs. Apart from the addition of WiFi calling and the new Magenta digs, not much here has changed. The capacitive touchscreen still measures in at 3.2-inches, and RIM hasn’t bumped the quality of its 5 megapixel rear camera nor the phone’s 8GB of storage. While this internal pic doesn’t tip us off to an upcoming release window, we’re pretty sure this is the same 4G “Dumoine” handset from that leaked fall roadmap, indicating a potential November 9th launch. So, will this tide you over until RIM gets BBX out into the wireless wild or are you in the market for something a little sharper?

If you’re of the ilk who vehemently hates contracts, yet adores T-Mobile, read on. Alongside its existing pay-as-you go plans, Little Magenta has introduced a new $60 choice, offering unlimited minutes, texting and data — though the latter is throttled after consuming 2GB. If a month of commitment is too rich for your blood, how about about one of three new “pay by the day” plans? The priciest option’s three bucks for all the minutes and texts you could ever want and 200MB of data at full speed. A dollar less still gets you unlimited talk time and texts, but slows that all you can eat data buffet down to 2G speeds. True cheapskates (or those who only communicate via the written word) will love the dollar daily plan, which grants boundless texting, but dispenses the data altogether and runs ten cents per minute for phone calls.
