Samsung continues to inject color

Hard to see the ToC in this pic of the P2370. Too subtle for its own good i guess.

The Bodies Obtained, ‘Hear Believe’: Free MP3 of the Day

Sometimes strange, sometimes otherworldly–but always incredible–marks the striking sound of Detroit-based band The Bodies Obtained. Reminiscent of the gloom and doom of Joy Division (their name is taken from a “Day of the Lords” lyric), The Bodies Obtained resurrect postpunk founding fathers from the grave on their debut album, From …

Taking A Look At Microsoft’s Zune Media Player

This article was written on September 16, 2006 by CyberNet.

Zune iPod Comparison

Microsoft is really going after an iPod-dedicated market with the Zune but they are doing it in a good way. At first I didn’t think that Microsoft was going to be able to hold their own when it came to stacking up against Apple but the Zune specifics appear to be quite impressive.

It is going to have:

  • 30GB hard drive
  • Built-in FM tuner
  • 3.0-inch screen
  • 802.11 wireless

Zune Styles Everyone thought it was a sure thing that Apple’s next generation iPod was going to have built-in wireless capabilities but that proved to be just a rumor. Not only will the Zune have the wireless but it will also have an FM tuner! That is pretty sweet because every now and then I get sick of listening to the same songs on my iPod and it would be nice to shake things up a bit by listening to the radio.

As far as looks go I’m not too sure about the brown model that they are going to have available. However, I could see it being one of those “fashion statements” that will probably start off a little slow and it will all of a sudden be the color that everyone wants.

TRENDnet unloads one more at CES: TEW-673GR Wireless N gigabit router

If you haven’t seen enough of TRENDnet here at CES, you haven’t been looking, but for those in need of a new wireless router, these choices are certainly sights for sore eyes. The latest entry from the company here in Vegas is the TEW-673GR 300Mbps Concurrent Dual-Band Wireless N Gigabit Router. Constructed with a dual-band Atheros chipset, the device can handle both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks simultaneously; essentially, this enables low-bandwidth clients to be assigned to the more congested 2.4GHz band while high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive applications (such as HD streaming and online gaming) head to the uncongested 5GHz band. Can’t help you out on a price, but it should be filtering out in short order.

Dual Electronics’ XNAV43HD PND: first with real-time traffic via HD Radio

You may have never heard of Dual Electronics, but the firm is getting talked up today courtesy of Clear Channel Radio. You see, said outfit has launched the world’s first personal navigation device to support real-time traffic via HD Radio. The XNAV43HD can pull down up to 500 messages per minute in over 50 markets in which the new service is live, and all of the information will be continuously monitored and updated by Clear Channel’s staff. Specs on the PND itself are as follows: 4.3-inch touchscreen, text-to-speech and a multimedia player. The $279.99 price tag ain’t half bad, but our interest lies in how quickly this service will get rolled out to other navigators, factory-supplied and otherwise.

QNAP unveils stately 6-bay TS-639 Pro Turbo NAS device

It’s been a hot minute since we saw anything fly from QNAP, but today the outfit is unveiling a NAS so intimidating, so beastly that it practically has to be locked away in a data closet. The TS-639 Pro Turbo checks in with six bays, a 1.6GHz Intel CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, gigabit Ethernet and support for RAID 0/1/5/6/5+spare configurations along with built-in iSCSI target service with Thin Provisioning. There’s no mention of a price, but that’s likely because you just aren’t ready to handle the truth.

Dell’s 22-inch UltraSharp 2209WA LCD monitor surfaces

Dell Canada is good for being the first to show off new LCDs, and yet again we’re getting an early look at a forthcoming monitor courtesy of the Great White North. The 22-inch UltraSharp 2209WA will evidently arrive with a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, 300 nits of brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 178-degree viewing angles and a 5-millisecond response time. It also features VGA and DVI connectors, four USB 2.0 ports and an undisclosed price tag. It’ll supposed ship in one to two weeks, but given that there’s not even an image available yet, we’re not so sure we’d bet the farm on that estimate being accurate.

Palm Reveals Pre Developer Details, App Catalog

pre-mojo.jpg
We’d heard before that Palm’s new SDK was called “Mojo,” but the company launched its developer site today, teasing us with some key information about how the heck people are going to write apps for the Pre. Some highlights:

  • The system is based on HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript. But there will be an extensive API to let developers handle interruptions, notifications, and device services.

  • The development environment will be based on Eclipse, a well-known, open-source development platform.

  • The SDK will be free to use.

  • They’ll offer an easy way to migrate from existing Palm OS apps to Mojo.

  • The app store will be called Palm App Catalog.

Want to know more? So do we. Keep on eye on Palm’s site.
