Odyssey Bikes teams up with Aaron Ross, rolls out BMX collection

(Credit: Odyssey)

Who said nerds only eat junk, never exercise, and rack up 1-900 bills while living in their parents’ pool house? Well, now we know at least one of those isn’t true.

Pro BMX rider Aaron Ross partnered with Odyssey to produce this signature BMX set that features a clever keyboard pattern spelling out the name of the rider.

The full set includes two-piece, multibutted chromoly bars; a set of 145mm Krayton Rubber grips; and a special tee all bearing the same design. Available now on DansComp or the Odyssey Web site.

Classic Controller Pro appears at E3, unbeknownst to Nintendo

Well, here’s a curious one. Those eagle-eyed folks at Joystiq caught sight of a pair of Classic Controller Pros for the Wii at Nintendo’s E3 booth, which wouldn’t be so unusual if not for the fact that it still hasn’t been announced for release outside of Japan. Adding to the intrigue, the Nintendo reps at the booth apparently know nothing (or weren’t talking) about a planned release, and there’s no official word to speak of on the E3 press site either. Yet the controllers were there for all too see, which leads Joystiq to rightly speculate that a release ’round here is now decidedly more likely than not.

iRex to release color e-reader in 2011?

Remember when iRex single-handedly revolutionized the e-reader industry last fall? Remember “Seeing Is Believing?” We didn’t either, until the company reminded us of its continued existence with the announcement that it’s developing a new color e-book reader that uses subtractive color mixing to display text and images three times the brightness of existing displays. While this won’t be the first color e-ink tech we’ve laid our eyes on, the promise of print-quality color e-books is certainly tantalizing. Your move, Sony.

Acer’s Snapdragon-equipped F1 in fast-paced WinMo action at Computex

We’ve already seen dormant F1s resting comfortably from the confines of display stands at MWC earlier this year, but Acer’s now ready to flip the power switch and show off its WinMo 6.5 superphone’s capabilities in the flesh at Computex this week. Our own Engadget Chinese spent some quality time shooting the Snapdragon-powered beast, running what could very well be the gold shipping build of 6.5 considering that it’s now been released to manufacturers in final form for inclusion in their devices. As you might expect for the Tegra-fighting Snapdragon silicon, animations and transitions seems to be totally dead-on smooth and movement between applications is faster than anything this side of a Toshiba TG01, so we’re excited to see this one find its way into retail later this year; in the meantime, though, follow the link for some glorious footage.

International Space Station Now at Full Capacity

NASA_ISS_ESA.jpg

For the first time in its 10-year history, the International Space Station is finally at its full capacity of six astronauts, after a Russian Soyuz capsule carrying three new residents arrived at the ISS on Friday, according to Discovery News. In addition, each of the major space station partners is represented on board for the first time: two Russians and one American, Japanese, Canadian and Belgian. The ISS crew had never gone above three astronauts at time, and dipped to two for a while following the Columbia disaster in 2003.

“There is so much potential in this beginning, in this historic milestone,” Steve MacLean, president of the Canadian Space Agency and a former astronaut, said at the Russian control center outside Moscow, according to the article. “[It represents] what we will be able to achieve with future programs … and what we as a combined series of countries can do for the future exploration of space.” In a few weeks, the space shuttle Endeavor will arrive with another seven astronauts, for a total of 13, although that will only be temporary, the report said.
