A Wonderfully Weird Interview with @Sweden’s Sonja Abrahamsson [Video]

Earlier this month, representing her country from the @sweden Twitter account, Sonja Abrahamsson grabbed her 15 minutes by the balls and gave them an impressive tug. Irreverent, frank, and wildly popular, the 27-year-old mother of two doubled the account’s followers with her controversial statements. Now that she’s off Twitter duty, Sonja was nice enough to sit down to answer a few questions. More »

Car Insurance Overcharges Hit Middle Class Drivers, Study Finds Often ‘High’ And ‘Variable’ Rates

If you live in a middle- or low-income area, you might be paying more than you need to for car insurance.

Recent research from the Consumer Federation of America is calling into question the “high” and “variable” insurance rates being charged to middle-class drivers with good driving records. (Hat tip: The New York Times.)

These findings are the end result of a study that fabricated profiles for two hypothetical middle-class people with good driving records and compared the online insurance quotes they received from the country’s four largest car insurers: State Farm, Allstate, Progressive and GEICO.

At the bay’s edge, two giant, shell-like structures watch over the scenery, stranded on an unusual beach. The Rave King: The Man Behind the Electric Daisy Carnival

Over three nights in June, some 320,000 revelers endured bottleneck traffic to make a pilgrimage to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The crowds were as diverse as they were massive — ravers in neon tutus and furry boots, glasses-wearing college freshmen, bona fide adults — all headed to an electronic dance music festival which featured over 200 performers across stages that varied in size and genre.

It’s perfectly possible that you haven’t heard of Electric Daisy Carnival or Insomniac, the company that puts it on, but know this: EDC, as it’s known, is the biggest, most-pyrotechnically trigger-happy music festival in North America. Last year, the weekend pumped $136 million into the notoriously depressed Vegas economy. This year, a couple was married at the event as fireworks cracked through the hot desert sky above them. And the world has Pasquale Rotella to thank — or demonize — for it.
