Why should I hide the fact that I’m in a good mood and want to wish whomever I’m writing a happy day through a silly little emoticon?

Chicago Cubs Beat Sloppy New York Mets 6-1, Wood Sharp For 7 Innings

CHICAGO — Joe Mather homered and Travis Wood outpitched Johan Santana, leading the Chicago Cubs to a 6-1 victory over the New York Mets on Monday night to snap a four-game skid.

Wood (2-3) struck out six and scattered five hits over seven scoreless innings to earn his second straight victory. The 25-year-old lefty has given up just eight runs in 31 2-3 innings this month. Four of those five starts came against former Cy Young winners.

Butter Sales Rise As Consumers Seek Pure Ingredients

Pass the butter — er, margarine. Or is it the olive-oil spread?

In the so-called oil-and-fats category, it’s getting tougher to tell which is which. Butter giant Land O’Lakes is adding olive oil to some of its sticks, marking what it says is a category first. Meanwhile, a canola-oil-blended butter spread continues to gain attention, and some versions also include, you guessed it, olive oil. At the same time, brands are adding dashes of sea salt, cinnamon and sugar to spice up what was once a pretty mundane dairy staple.

Michael Pilato Replaces Sandusky Image On Penn State Mural

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The depiction of Jerry Sandusky on a well-known mural across the street from the Penn State campus has been replaced by an image of a poet and activist draped with a blue ribbon – a symbol for awareness of child sexual abuse.

It was artist Michael Pilato’s latest step in erasing the image of the disgraced former assistant football coach following Sandusky’s conviction last week on 45 counts at his child sex abuse trial.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The University of Virginia’s governing board is to consider whether to reinstate Teresa Sullivan, who was ousted without a vote earlier this month.

Minnesota Twins Beat Chicago White Sox 4-1 In Kevin Youkilis Debut

MINNEAPOLIS — Kevin Youkilis needed a printout of the players on Chicago’s roster so he could remember everyone’s name. Jake Peavy pitched with a heavy heart, trying to honor the memory of a former coach.

FFVII remake will not happen until current Final Fantasy games exceed FFVII’s quality, according to Square Enix’s CEO

We’re sure that many Final Fantasy gamers can agree that Final Fantasy VII is probably one of the best Final Fantasy games ever made. That being said, with the game being so old, many are wondering if Square Enix will eventually release a remake of the game with updated graphics and perhaps some new gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately that will not be happening, at least not anytime soon. During the company’s annual shareholding meeting, Square Enix’s CEO Yoichi Wada was asked about a possible remake of Final Fantasy VII. He responded by saying that the remake will only happen once Square Enix has created an FF game that exceeds the quality of FFVII. He admits that the Final Fantasy games released now aren’t exceeding the quality of FFVII, and that if they were to release a remake now, it might be the end of the franchise. We can’t help but feel it’s a bit dramatic but at the same time, we’d rather not see a butchered remake of a game that many gamers have come to know and love.

SpeakerCraft Protege TV Speaker introduced

SpeakerCraft has just introduced its Protege TV Speaker to the masses, where it delivers audio to your ears in an extremely covert and sublime manner, thanks to it being an under-TV sound system which helps flat panel TVs sound as good as they look. Sporting powerful loudspeakers, subwoofers and DSP technology that are crammed in a single cabinet, the SpeakerCraft Protege takes mere minutes to hook up to TVs. SpeakerCraft engineers have also taken the opportunity to have the Protege TV speaker work by improving male and female vocals, while increasing higher listening levels to cater for larger rooms with the ability to throw out deeper bass. Sporting a couple of 5.25″ woofers in a tuned enclosure, our ears get to enjoy low-end bass that is long missing from vanilla flat panel TVs. (more…)

HTC EVO 3D receives Android 4.0 update in EMEA, Sprint’s update imminent?

Heads up HTC EVO 3D users, it looks like the Android 4.0 update for your phone has started to roll out. Unfortunately it appears that this rollout is only targeted at the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) regions, so if you’re living outside those regions, you’re probably out of luck at least for now. Oddly enough Sprint’s version of the update is still missing, despite being promised for a June release last time we checked. Perhaps the EMEA could get it first before Sprint does – after all there are a couple of days left before the month of June is over, so Sprint still has time to make good on the June release. That being said, if you can’t wait for the official release (if and when it ever heads stateside), there are alternatives such as this leaked Android 4.0 ROM, although it does require that the user have some knowledge when it comes to rooting and flashing their devices. Either that or you guys can wait patiently for the update, which we will be sure to inform you when it does arrive!

Pre-paid iPhone 4S now available on Cricket starting at $399.99

Despite Cricket being one of the smaller carriers in the US, at least compared to the four majors, it seems that when it comes to the iPhone, it does not matter how big or small you are, as long as you are offering it. Well if you were looking forward to a pre-paid iPhone 4S, Cricket has started to offer the handsets already and even claimed that there were customers who were lining up outside their stores before they opened.

However given that the iPhone 4S is reaching a year old and with the iPhone 5 looming in the distance, these customers could have probably nabbed a couple more hours of sleep, but we guess some people enjoy the excitement and anticipation that comes with lining up. If you’re looking to get the iPhone 4S on Cricket’s network, expect to pay $499.99 for the 16GB version, and $399.99 for the 8GB version that comes with a $55 a month no-contract plan that includes 2.3GB of data and unlimited calls and text messages.
