PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale early access beta invites reportedly rolling out

Gamers if you’re looking forward to Sony’s upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, you’ll be interested to learn that according to reports, Sony has started sending out early access beta codes. This early access is expected to be limited to just a select few, but for whatever reason you think that you might be eligible for the beta, we guess you should probably be checking your emails to see if you’ve received it! With the game scheduled for a release in October, we guess now would seem as good a time as any to launch a beta of the game to iron out whatever kinks are left before releasing it to the masses. For those unfamiliar, the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a brawler-styled game that is similar in nature to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. The game will feature characters from popular Sony PlayStation games, such as God of War, Twisted Metal, Unchartered and more just to name a few.

Nintendo Wii U pricing expected to be revealed in September, according to analyst

Another day, another Wii U price/release date prediction; if only Nintendo would just come out and announce it already! With that being said, EEDAR’s Jesse Divinch has revealed that he expects Nintendo to unveil the pricing of the Wii U sometime in September, possibly around the same time as the Tokyo Game Show, although he does not think that the announcement will be made at the game show itself.   He claims that the delay in price being revealed could be due to possible price cuts of the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 for the holiday season, which if cut could lower than the price of the Wii U could potentially eat into the sales of Nintendo’s brand new console which might explain why Nintendo has been mum on the price so far. Either way Nintendo is expected to launch the Wii U this year and the current speculators have pegged it at a November release, but we’ll be monitoring its progress anyway so be sure to check back with us at a later date for more updates!

Proof That the iPhone 4 Could Have Been a Sony Product—According to Apple Itself [Apple]

FWD highlights an early iPhone 4 concept design created by Apple’s designer Shin Nishibori. It unequivocally confirms what I’ve repeatedly said since the introduction of the iPhone 4: it feels like an old school Sony product. Just like the iPhone 5 design or my custom wooden iPhone 4, which feels like a 70s Betamax VCR. [FWD] More »

Vizify offers free infographics all about you, makes you feel like a big shot

Infographics. The stuff of high turnover websites and news channels, right? Well, yes, but now you can bring the same white space and pastel shades to your own internet footprint, courtesy of free infographic web app Vizify. It’s still in its trial period for now, which means you’ll have to wait for an entry code to tap into the breezy visualization generator, but we managed to plug in as many social networks as we could to see how it all works. The service is definitely centered around those that are very connected to the internet. Vizify will draw information from Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, LinkedIn and also connect through work-based websites you add yourself. It will then populate a clickable front page with circles including images, quotes and links to your profile elsewhere. The service, which is geared at recruitment, crafts a convenient short link to offer up on resumes or job emails. Edit options include a choice of color palettes, and the ability to tweak the layout of the information circles [seen above] and the larger pages that follow it, bringing either more career-centric (or interesting) content to the forefront. Sign up for an access code at the source to give it a try for yourself, or take a stalker-esque trip down an Engadget editor’s social network tracks at the second link below.

The 9 Best Buildings of the London 2012 Olympics [Architecture]

Though not nearly as ostentatious as the buildings from the Beijing 2008 Olympics, the stadiums and arenas for the London 2012 Olympics are still quite lovely. Here are the best buildings you’ll probably see over and over again for the next few weeks. More »

Possible iPhone 5 leaked from case manufacturer

Some new photos have hit the web showing what appears to be Apple‘s sixth iPhone. A Chinese case vendor is showing what looks to be the much anticipated iPhone 5 wrapped up in one of their production cases for the new smartphone. These pictures and that new docking port could be the iPhone 5′s final design.

Could final design iPhone 5 units be out in the wild already? It wouldn’t be the first time, and we’ve been seeing countless leaks and different parts of the new iPhone all month. This also wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen cases for a new 4-inch iPhone design either. These newly leaked pictures certainly could be real. The speaker grill on previous leaks seems to not be included in these shots, but again those were never confirmed.

With the new iPhone production already under way in Shanghai could 3rd party accessory manufacturers already have their hands on the new phone? Who knows. At the same time this could also just a prototype from the Chinese case manufacturer themselves, going off the same tips, leaks, and rumors we’ve all seen for months. If you’d like to get caught up on everything iPhone 5 from the month of July check out our iPhone 5 July rumor round-up.

As I’m sure you all know, the next iPhone is rumored to be released later this fall. Stay tuned to SlashGear for the latest leaks and rumors!

Total Recall Game available for Android and iOS

The Total Recall Game just launched on Android and iOS to mark the upcoming feature film based on a remake of the 1990 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The new movie is expected to have a different plot compared to the original, and the first-person shooter game will follow the same storyline as the remake.

Gamers who decide to download the app will play as the film’s main character (Douglas Quaid) and will play by fighting their way through New Asia while traveling to the Earth’s core in a mission to search for the “ultimate truth.” The game is said to feature cutting-edge 3D environments taken right out of the film and features comic book-style scenes for each mission. As you continue to make your way through the game, you gain the opportunity to use several different weapons to shoot your enemies.

The game has intuitive touch controls and currently features eight missions with seven more to come. The new film isn’t scheduled to come out for about another week, but the game is now available to purchase from both the iTunes App Store and Google Play for $1.99.

Parrot partners with senseFly and Pix4D on mapping UAVs

Parrot, the maker of the famous AR.Drone, has today announced two new ventures with companies chasing similar goals. The first is a $2.5 million investment with aerial mapping specialist Pix4D. That will see drones creating mapping solutions and geographical information using Pix4D’s software. Pix4D will be providing the necessary imaging algorithms that helps the drones make 3D maps of the areas they fly over, while Parrot’s investment will help boost development.

Pix4UAV takes thousands of normal pictures captured by drones and converts them into a professional 3D map. The advantage of Pix4D’s solution is that the creation of the maps is fully automatic, and the company also claims that its processing is faster, cheaper, and has better accuracy. Ultimately UAV manufacturers and professional surveyors benefit from the maps, reportedly accurate up to 5cm, as Pix4UAV sells on the software and necessary tools.

Meanwhile, Parrot and senseFly have joined forces to build even more advanced drones. The key piece of technology that will benefit Parrot is the swinglet CAM, a drone with autopilot capabilities that can handle take-off, flight, and landing by itself. It’s also packed with a high-resolution camera that might be useful for, say, geographical information and 3D maps. Parrot is bolstering senseFly’s activities with around $5.1 million in funding. Match the technology at hand with Pix4UAV’s software capabilities, and you can see that Parrot is taking automated surveillance drones seriously.

Galaxy Note CyanogenMod 10 now available

Galaxy Note CM10Good news for folks who use custom ROMs on their Galaxy Note. CyanogenMod 10 is now available for your phablet and is waiting to be loaded. While it’s only a preview version of the final ROM, it is said to be faster than Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs for the device (if you run stock ICS on the device you probably understand how it feels). However, it’s not without its faults. According to PocketNow who gave the ROM a shot, it lags when going into the app tray, opening folders and when browsing the web, so the less adventurous  folks might not want to give it a go just yet.

However, if the call of Jelly Bean is too strong and you can’t resist, head over to XDA-developers to download the ROM for your Galaxy Note. As usual, remember to make backups of your important data and anything else you’d like to see again – just in case something goes wrong. If you do try it out, let us know what you think. Hit the source link to check out the preview video.

DARPA developing smart suits that will improve the endurance and balance of soldiers

Cool things are happening over at DARPA. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has recently awarded a $2.6 million contract to the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University to work on a smart suit that will help improve the physical endurance for U.S. soldiers in the battlefield. Talk about supersoldiers. Harvard’s Wyss Institute said that the proposed lightweight suit will be made from wearable assistive devices that integrate several novel Wyss technologies on it.

Among them is a stretchable sensor that will monitor the body’s biomechanics. Another one is a technology that could improve the balance of soldiers through low-level mechanical vibrations that can boost the body’s sensory functions. “This project is an excellent example of how Wyss researchers from different disciplines work side by side with experts in product development to develop solutions to difficult problems that might not otherwise be possible,” Wyss founding director, Donald Ingber, said.
