Tina Fey Color Blocks At Alec Baldwin’s Wedding

Even though Tina Fey has been showered with praise for her Emmy-winning television show and best-selling book, she doesn’t seem to garner too much attention for her style. So when the comedienne attended Alec Baldwin’s wedding yesterday in a color-blocked dress, we took notice.

Tina looked very pretty in a blue and gray striped dress and nude sandals. She accessorized with diamond earrings and a blue patent clutch, sweeping her hair into a teased updo. We’ve seen Tina glam it up before, but this look was definitely a fun departure for the low key actress.

While the dress itself has a very simple silhouette, the ombre color blocks are quite a style-conscious choice and Tina seems to glow in the ensemble. And since we can’t look forward to another season of “30 Rock,” we’ll be anticipating more of the star’s fashion choices.

Hong Kong Democracy Rally Draws Thousands

HONG KONG — A pro-democracy heckler interrupted a speech by Chinese President Hu Jintao at the swearing-in of Hong Kong’s new leader Sunday and tens of thousands of residents marched to protest Chinese rule on the 15th anniversary of the Asian financial hub’s return to Beijing’s control.

The outpouring of discontent underscored rising tensions between the Communist mainland and the vibrant city of 7 million that was returned to China in 1997 after more than a century of British colonial rule. While much of the discontent revolves around growing economic inequality and stunted democratic development, Hong Kongers are also upset over what they see as arrogant Chinese behavior – wealthy mainlanders taking over retail outlets during flashy Hong Kong shopping trips, for example, or even the choice of language during Sunday’s swearing-in ceremony, Beijing-accented Mandarin instead of the Cantonese dialect spoken locally.

John Lundberg: Poetry Holds Its Own Olympic Celebration

I don’t know that anyone would argue that the Games should trot out a few poets for a reading between the 400m and the high jump final, but it’s nice to see that London is using this summer as an opportunity to bring the world together for more than just athletics.

Shaquille O’Neal is currently filming his stint in “Grown Ups 2” in Massachusetts and for his role as a police officer, the NBA legend got some comical new hair.

The hilarious wig inspired the follically challenged basketball star to record a video in the hair and make-up trailer, which you can watch below.

“I’m goin’ bald. This is a sad day. I can’t believe I’m going bald,” Shaq says with a sniffle in the recently uploaded video. Then, Prince’s “Purple Rain” starts blaring in the background and Shaq lip syncs along as he sobs and cries about the state of his hair.

Future Drones Will Autonomously Navigate the Skies Without GPS [Guts]

Military drones rely heavily on GPS for navigation guidance while in the air. But in areas where a signal can’t be found, or where someone is using a GPS jammer, a drone will find itself in a troublesome predicament. Military sub-contractor BAE Systems has come up with a solution to that problem: A positioning system called NAVSOP that uses any wireless signal to find its location. More »

Pope Pius XII Holocaust Controversy: Israel’s Yad Vashem Memorial Softens View Of WWII Pope

JERUSALEM — Israel’s national Holocaust memorial has toned down its account of Pope Pius XII’s conduct toward the massacre of Jews during of World War II, following a long diplomatic dispute with the Vatican.

Critics have long contended that Pius, who was pope from 1939 to 1958, could have done more to stop the Holocaust, when 6 million Jews were killed. Before his election as pope, he also served as the Vatican’s No. 2 and before that as the papal envoy to Germany.

Production R8 e-tron sets lap record at Nürburgring, Audi gains more EV bragging rights

Production R8 etron sets lap record at Nrburgring, Audi gets gains EV bragging rights

Suffice it to say, Audi’s been garnering loads of press these past weeks for its e-tron vehicles. Hot on the heels of its recent, R18 e-tron-led victory at the 24-hour Le Mans, the automaker has set a world-record for production EVs at Germany’s Nürburgring. Using an all-electric R8 production model, driver Markus Winkelhock zipped around the 12.92-mile course with a lap time of 8:09.099. For comparison’s sake, the fastest lap by a gasoline-powered production car of about seven minutes and 57 seconds is currently held by the Gumpert Apollo Sport — which just-so-happens to use an 700 hp (515 kW) Audi V8 motor. According to Audi, the R8 used is essentially identical to what will be released to the public later this year, featuring two electric motors that pump out 280kW of power and 820Nm of torque. That said, Autoblog notes that its limiter was set to 155 mph (250 kph) — when you can buy one it’ll be set to top out at 125 mph (200 kph). Hit up the press release after the break for all the details.

Update: We incorrectly mixed up mph with kph on the max speeds. We’ve adjusted the numbers.

Howard Kurtz: CNN’s Health Care Mistake ‘Wasn’t Pretty’ (VIDEO)

CNN’s “Reliable Sources” proved to be somewhat awkward, as host Howard Kurtz dissected his own network’s botched reporting of the Supreme Court’s health care ruling.

CNN made headlines on Thursday when it incorrectly told viewers that the individual mandate had been struck down. The provision was in fact struck down under one clause, but upheld as a tax.

Kurtz prefaced his criticism on Sunday, saying that it was “not easy” to instantly decipher a dense legal opinion and the “bit of confusion” was “understandable.”He proceeded to play clips of other networks getting the decision right. He turned to CNN’s report, which he said “wasn’t pretty,” and also replayed Fox News’ blunder.
