Clara Braithwaite Dies: Rihanna’s Grandmother Passes Away

Rihanna’s grandmother, Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite, has died after battling cancer, according to Contact Music.

“Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you,” the singer tweeted early Sunday morning, followed by numerous photo postings of her grandmother.

Chris Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins, also offered her condolences to her son’s ex-girlfriend via the social networking site. Rihanna responded: “@mombreezy thank you! Love u mama.”

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Jack Jacobs can proudly – and truthfully – say he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor in Vietnam. After a recent Supreme Court ruling, anyone else is free under the First Amendment to make the same claim, whether it’s true or not.

Some military veterans say they consider the ruling a slap in the face. For Jacobs, though, it was the right decision. He said he wore the uniform to protect people’s rights – even if he doesn’t agree with how they exercise those rights.

Liechtenstein Rejects Call To Remove Prince’s Veto, ‘Yes — So That Your Vote Counts’

GENEVA — Voters in tiny Liechtenstein have soundly rejected a call to take away the ruling prince’s power to veto referendum results.

Government figures showed that 76.1 percent of voters, or 11,629 people, rejected the initiative titled “Yes – So that your vote counts” in a referendum Sunday. Turnout was 82.9 percent.

States With The Most Underage Drinking: 24/7 Wall St.

Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released its 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance study. The annual survey, which reviews unhealthy behavior among 9th to 12th graders, reported that more than a third of high school students had consumed alcohol and more than one in five reported having engaged in binge drinking in the past 30 days. Based on the report, 24/7 Wall St. identified the states where binge drinking among teens occurs most.

JOHANNESBURG — Doctors are reporting improvement in the condition of an American graduate student attacked by chimps he was studying in South Africa.

In a statement, Mediclinic Nelspruit said Andrew F. Oberle, who had been in critical condition since Thursday’s attack, was stable enough Sunday for doctors to bring him into the operating room to clean and stitch his multiple bites and attend to fractures and other injuries.
