A week ago, the internet fell victim to a thunderstorm outside of Washington D.C., taking out a chunk of Amazon’s servers, which plays host to sites and services such as Instagram and Netflix. Then, on Friday; the internet died again, taking down sites such as Yelp, Reddit, and even our very own Gawker network. More »
We can’t believe it’s been a full year since Kate Moss fluttered down the aisle in a custom-designed John Galliano wedding dress. It seems like only yesterday Kate and a powder blue suit-clad Jamie Hince were celebrating their three-day nuptials at Moss’ estate in Southrop, England.
The elaborate wedding solidified the pair as fashion scene regulars — any marriage that merits a Vogue cover is bound to be a stylish one. This isn’t the model’s first time at the power couple rodeo though. Kate’s relationships with Johnny Depp and Pete Doherty garnered almost as much sartorial attention as gossip, but she seems to have found a more relaxed style groove with her new hubby.
Since they began dating in 2007, the couple has developed a trademark rocker-meets-model look. (We’d like to think they have a shared androgynous closet full of fedoras, blazers, skinny jeans and scarves that they throw on each other to run errands.) But don’t think that the bohemian pair are a one-note couple. Kate and Jamie clean up quite nicely, and The Kills frontman doesn’t seem to have a problem throwing on a dapper suit and joining his wife at a fashion show.
My eyes blurred as I held my son against me, my awareness of how numbered these days are so piercing I couldn’t have spoken without sobbing.

From GorgeousInGrey.com: I’ve been thinking about transitioning my hair to its natural curly waves for a while. Each September, after the summer heat finally disappears and my roots calm down, I reminisce about my childhood wavy locs. I’ve always classified myself as semi-natural. Meaning, since I can remember I’ve only had a relaxer treatment 2 maybe 3 times a year. Just to tame the roots of my hair, more so in the summer time. Maryland humidity makes for a very unpleasant happy hour. Going “chemical free” is no easy task for me especially since my grey hairs have a stubborn side.
As summer months approaches us, the dreadful thought of poofed out roots doesn’t make me a happy fashionista. So I started thinking. What could I do to stay on my natural path? Here’s 5 things I am going to try this season to ease that transition. Hopefully I won’t by left with natural regrets.
BEIRUT — Syria’s main opposition group said nearly 800 people have been killed in violence across the country in the past week which saw some of the bloodiest violence in the 16-month uprising against President Bashar Assad.
Opposition activists groups say more than 14,000 people have been killed in the 15-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad’s authoritarian rule, or on average of about 900 a month. That would make last week’s toll alone, tallied by the Syrian National Council (SNC), almost as high as the monthly average.
Every weekend we bring you a round up of either the best LGBT moments from the week before — our Something To Celebrate series — or, as you’ll see below, the worst anti-LGBT stories from the last seven days in our Know Thine Enemy feature.
You can think of Know Thine Enemy as a primer filled with the anti-LGBT rhetoric being leveled against us, as a reminder of how far we still have to go, and maybe even as a chance to have a laugh (because let’s be honest, some of this stuff is so ridiculous it’s pretty hilarious).
Check out the stories we covered this week below — all in one convenient slideshow — and let us know who you think the biggest enemy of the LGBT community was in the comments section.

Clay Dean spends his days imagining the future. You might soon be driving what he dreams.
As executive director of General Motors’ advanced global design department, he is currently envisioning the roads of 2040, and what he sees is very different from today.
We are on the verge, he says, of a renaissance, an era in which car design will change the look of our roads, the way we commute to work, how much stress we endure throughout the day, even our impact on the planet.
Etsy shop OKsmalls makes all kinds of iron-on embroidered patches, but if you’re a Pokémon fan, you’ll want to collect its Kanto Gym badge set. These are the 8 gym badges that were obtainable right from the first Pokémon games. Try them on your dog, maybe it’ll learn how to cut or surf.
You don’t need to beat OKsmalls to earn these badges; a payment of $30 (USD) will be super effective. There’s also a Pokéball patch if you want to really catch ‘em all.

The Shift cabinet is a pretty simple piece as far as form and materials go—it’s MDF in the shape of a rectangle. But the front panels, which vary in color, and have a gradient effect applied to them, turn that cabinet from something simple (and maybe even mundane), into an attractive and extremely modern piece of furniture.
