OWC Mercury Aura Bundles let you replace your MacBook Air’s SSD, use it as external storage

DNP OWC

Got a Macbook Air from 2010 or 2011 and want to upgrade the storage without dropping its pre-existing SSD module all together? Well, you’re in luck, thanks to OWC’s new Mecury Aura Bundles. After upgrading your Air with one of the company’s Mercury Aura Pro Express SSDs, the included Mercury Aura Envoy lets you re-purpose the factory SSD as a bus-powered, USB 3.0-compatible external drive. Better yet, the Envoy is made of aluminum, matches the Air’s tapered design and weighs just 1.5 ounces. Owners of the 2010 Air can opt for a 180, 240 or 480GB 3Gb/s drive, while those with the 2011 model can bump up to 6Gb/s bus speeds with the same storage allotments and a 120GB option. Pricing for the bundle starts at $200 for the 120GB variant, maxing out at a hefty $780 and $800 if you want to move up to the spacious 480GB offerings. Thankfully, like the SSDs, the Mercury Aura Envoy is available as a stand-alone enclosure, and it’ll cost you just under $50 bucks. Hit up the press release after the break for the full details if this dual-drive setup piques your interest

Kenya Church Attacks Kill 15, Wound 40 In Garissa

NAIROBI, Kenya — Gunmen killed two policemen guarding a church, snatched their rifles and then opened fire on the congregation from inside and out on Sunday, killing 15 people and wounding 40, security officials said.

Two gunmen entered the simple wooden church in the city of Garissa at around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, while two others waited outside, police commander Philip Ndolo said. When the congregation fled the attack inside, they ran straight into another hail of bullets from gunmen outside, he said. At least one grenade was detonated in the attack.

John Roberts Health Care Vote: Nuanced View Of Chief Justice Surfaces

WASHINGTON — Chief Justice John Roberts could have taken down the entire, massive health care law that his fellow Republicans deride as “Obamacare.” He could have prevented the Supreme Court decision that largely disabled the most disputed aspects of Arizona’s crackdown on illegal immigrants.

He didn’t do either, and in the process surprised (or dismayed) longtime court observers of every political stripe.

John Boehner: Republicans Will File Civil Lawsuit Over Fast And Furious

WASHINGTON — Republicans in Congress will file a civil lawsuit over President Barack Obama’s invoking of executive privilege in connection with Operation Fast and Furious, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

The House of Representatives voted on Thursday to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over documents relating to a congressional inquiry into the failed gun-trafficking investigation. But the Justice Department has declined to prosecute Holder because the president invoked executive privilege to shield the documents.

“That’s why we’re also going to file in district court a civil suit over the issue of executive privilege,” Boehner said, adding that Republicans would file the suit sometime in the next few weeks.

Mitch McConnell On 30 Million Uninsured: ‘That Is Not The Issue’

WASHINGTON — Republicans have said repeatedly that the landmark health care reform law, upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court last week, must be repealed and replaced. But the GOP leader in the U.S. Senate gave a surprising answer on “Fox News Sunday” when asked how Republicans would provide health care coverage to 30 million uninsured Americans.

“That is not the issue,” Sen. Mitch McConnell said. “The question is how to go step by step to improve the American health care system. It is already the finest health care system in the world.”

“Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace interrupted, “You don’t think 30 million uninsured is an issue?”
