Electronic Drum Machine T-Shirt

You might think that you are tone deaf, but when you feel the urge of being King Kong in front of the lady who caught your eyes, then beating your chest in a rhythmic manner is one of your more primal instincts that is waiting to be expressed. Why not do it with style then, with the £29.99 Electronic Drum Machine T-Shirt? Of course, it would help if you had previous experience in drumming, as getting the right kind of pattern or beat is also essential in impressing the opposite sex – anything less would be deemed simply as noise.

The Electronic Drum Machine T-Shirt will breathe new life into the idea of portable beat-making to a whole new level, thanks to its 8 touch-sensitive drum pads as well as attached portable speaker, allowing you to literally wear your drums. There are 9 different kits to choose from, where they range from vintage 808s to classic Jazz, in addition to some very familiar video game sounds to let you express yourself fully. Throw in a loop function and you are able to record complex rhythms, adding in new layers as you concoct your latest track. Needless to say, you will need to remove the electronics and drum pads from the shirt before washing.

Red posts high frame-rate video demonstration to smooth out misconceptions

Red posts HFR demonstration to smooth out misconceptions

If you’re still unsure about what you’ll be getting into if you see the 48fps version of “Hobbit,” Red has jumped into the fray with an article on its website and, most importantly, high quality HFR (high frame-rate) videos. It delves into all the aspects of the tech, starting with a primer on the minimum frame rate required to perceive motion, illustrated by a pair of clips to show the threshold. From there it details “judder” when panning at 24 fps versus 60 fps, motion blur, the possibility of brighter projection with HFR in 3D and of course, action at slower versus faster frame speeds. Finally, it demonstrates the hated “TruMotion” soap opera-esque interpolation method on modern TVs, and why that’s different from true fast-frames. Sure, Red has a vested interest in seeing upcoming HFR films from its Epic camera succeed, but a little education might be what’s needed to break old habits.

VMware announces Fusion 5 virtualization software with support for Windows 8, integration with Mountain Lion

With Mountain Lion newly available and Windows 8 on the verge of shipping, now was a pretty good time for VMware to update its Fusion virtualization software, dont’cha think? The company just announced Fusion 5 with 70-plus new features, including support for Win 8 and tight integration with OS X 10.8. For instance, you can now view Windows programs in Mountain Lion’s Launchpad, while VMware software updates pop up in the Notification Center. Fusion also supports AirPlay for the first time, and you can also run either Mountain Lion or Mountain Lion Server as a virtual machine. The company also added support for Retina Display MacBook Pros, so that everything looks crisp on that 2,880 x 1,800 screen. Also of note: Fusion now supports USB 3.0, and Linux users get some love in the form of Open GL 2.1 graphics support.

The standard version of Fusion 5 is available now for $49.99, but people who bought Fusion 4 since the release of Mountain Lion can upgrade for free. Polychemy offers customers 3D printed iPhone cases

It is probably safe to assume that there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of designs out there to choose from when it comes to iPhone cases. However there is also a good chance that the case you choose could be one that someone else is using. While some users don’t care, others might especially given the apparent fashion faux pas of showing up at the same venue wearing identical clothing. In any case if you wanted a unique iPhone case, the folks at Polychemy might have something for you.

If the name Polychemy is one that isn’t familiar to you, they are an online designer boutique from Singapore that specializes in 3D technology. What they do is that they print 3D cases for the iPhone and Blackberry device using a 3D printer, and this allows for cases with a unique look and intricate designs to be created. If you’d like to learn more about their cases or perhaps order one for yourself, pop on over to their website to check out their designs.

Twitter severs Tumblr friend finder privileges

It seems twitter is out to cut any application that creates a lot of traffic via its friend finder feature off the teat. Not too long ago Twitter cut Instagram off from the friend finding service and now a second major service has been cut off by twitter. Blogging platform Tumblr has had its friend finding privileges ended by twitter.

New users signing up for Tumblr in the past were greeted with a sign-up page that allowed them to search for friends on the service using Facebook, Gmail, and twitter. That option to search for friends using twitter has now been removed. As you can see in the screenshot above, the only options for new users to search for friends are now via Facebook and Gmail.

Ending the ability for some services to use the friend finder feature via twitter has to do with new rules on the twitter version 1.1 API. Tumblr has officially confirmed that twitter restricted its ability to use the Find Twitter Friends feature on the Tumblr site. Tumblr noted that it was “truly disappointed by twitter’s decision” and that it’s “syndication features responsible for hundreds of millions of tweets.”

Twitter had no further statement to make on cutting Tumblr off from the feature other than what it had offered when it cut Instagram off. The reality is twitter didn’t offer any reason whatsoever for cutting off Instagram and simply noted that it understood there’s great value in the service for Instagram and confirm that it was no longer available.

The official Tumblr statement reads, “To our dismay, Twitter has restricted our users’ ability to “Find Twitter Friends” on Tumblr. Given our history of embracing their platform, this is especially upsetting. Our syndication feature is responsible for hundreds of millions of tweets, and we eagerly enabled Twitter Cards across 70 million blogs and 30 billion posts as one of Twitter’s first partners. While we’re delighted by the response to our integrations with Facebook and Gmail, we are truly disappointed by Twitter’s decision.”

Blizzard has no plans to raise the trial level cap of World of Warcraft

World of WarcraftDespite World of Warcraft’s level cap being 85 at the moment (90 when Mists of Pandaria comes out), the free trial of the game still has its cap stuck at 20. With earlier expansions such as Burning Crusade where the cap was 70, being limited to level 20 wasn’t so bad and the disparity wasn’t that great. If you were hoping that Blizzard would increase the level cap for the free trial to maybe 25 or 30, well you’re out of luck. Speaking to the folks at CVG, Blizzard’s John Lagrave was quoted as saying, “You know, we looked at it lots, we looked at whether Level 20 would give you a good sense of what our game is, and we think it does. There’s also a lot of things in the game that are special that we want to reserve for our paying customers.” So there you have it, if you thought that Blizzard might try to making the game more tantalizing to lure new customers, especially with its declining subscription, it does not appear to be the case.
