DENZIPFADEN interactive outfit targets DJs

Now here is a piece of clothing that DJs would definitely fall in love with – especially for those who have a flair for fashion. The name itself is nigh unpronounceable, where DENZIPFADEN is the result of Dutch fashion designer Maartje Dijkstra’s work that will target DJs by delivering an interactive, high fashion outfit. This men’s outfit will let you alter the volume of your music and throw in samples as well as anything else that you want to do with a MIDI controller. All you need to do is pull on the half dozen zippers on the suit and a bracelet, and you are good to go. This particular project was developed alongside DJ and electronic composer Beorn Lebenstedt (Newk), which makes plenty of sense since it takes a DJ to know what another DJ wants. (more…)

iPad Mini connector cable spotted?

Sure, there was a dud in the iPad Mini display image that was leaked earlier today, but what you see above came from the very same people who brought you the Galaxy Note 2 bezel, so I would say that the above image has a very high probability of depicting the actual iPad Mini connector cable – what do you think? This could very well be the very first component of the new iPad Mini that is pictured and shared with the rest of the world, where it is noticeably smaller compared to the current connector which works with most of all the mobile devices from Apple. Updated Google Play app reveals gift card support, wish list coming soon

If the images and link settings Android Police has dug up from the most recent (v3.8.15) Google Play APK that’s rolling out are correct, we could see a coupe more features coming to the Android app and media store soon. First up are very fleshed out menus for the redemption of Play Store gift cards, perfect for users that aren’t enthused about putting their credit card info out there and would rather purchase a few bucks prepaid and then spend them as they will. Also contained within the APK but not activated or accessible by default is some sort of wish list functionality. Hit the source link for all the images and screens that have been found so far, well have to wait and see when these pop up in a future updated or get activated later on.

[Thanks, Cullen]

Japan’s minimum nation requirements: 3G connectivity

I am quite sure that some of us out there who rely on our phone’s data connection are frustrated at times when we show up at a place, only to find the lack of a 3G signal throw a spanner in the works, as 2G connectivity is way too slow to work with. Well, if you need a decent mobile Internet connection on your device at all times, might I recommend you make the move to Japan instead? The Land of the Rising Sun is apparently a full 3G nation, according to TCA’s official statistics as of July this year. In fact, all top three of Japan’s telco subscribers, 126,194,300 in total, are now 100% on 3G+ or LTE. (more…)

iPad Mini display rumor could be Kindle Fire instead

What you see above was originally making its rounds throughout the Internet as some form of an iPad Mini display. Needless to say, we took it with a rather large grain of salt (and for good reason, too), since you know how close to the chest Apple plays their cards. Well, the alleged iPad Mini display turned out to be rather close to that of the Amazon Kindle Fire, so I think the above is most probably a case of mistaken identity, all 7.85″ of it. It would be interesting to see if the iPad Mini is a true device, and will share a similar screen ratio as that of the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Is there a real huge market for a smaller display in terms of the tablet market? Perhaps, especially when you see Google make their way into the 7″ tablet market with the recently announced Google Nexus 7 which was manufactured by Asus. I guess Apple wants their share of the cake as well, but only time will tell just how serious Apple’s efforts would turn out to be like.

The Gadgets that Got Us Going, Back in 2002 [Gizmodo10]

Gizmodo is officially 10 years old! And, while we’ve been celebrating this all week, I thought it would be fun (and/or funny) to take a look back at the ancestor gadgets we would all be using if someone were to turn the dial back, way back, all the way back to 2002.

Would You Pay to Use Twitter? [Chatroom]

App.net is a new fee-based, ad-free, realtime social feed—think Twitter, but with a price. But, you see, I already like Twitter. A lot. And I’m pretty comfortable with my whole profile: who I follow, who follows me, etc. I don’t quite feel like leaving for something newer, even if it is ad-free. And especially if it comes at a price (which, in this case, it does). More »

Kno textbooks arrive on Android with the Galaxy Note 101, take on a social side

Kno’s post-hardware textbook platform has called the iPad its only tablet home for more than a year; it’s about to spread its wings. Starting with a bundled presence on the Galaxy Note 10.1, Kno is an option for K-12 and college students who’d rather go the Android route. While all the 3D, note-taking and navigation features remain the same, there’s an obvious selling point in supporting the S Pen (and hopefully other pens) to more directly put thoughts to virtual paper — or, let’s admit it, doodle in the margins. All of us, Android and otherwise, get a new Social Sharing component that lets us crib each other’s notes before the big exam. We’re still waiting on Kno for other Android devices as well as the already-promised Windows 7 support, but it’s hard not to appreciate at least a little more variety in our digital learning.
