Abby Lee Miller Talks ‘Drop Dead Diva’ Appearance On ‘Good Day LA’

Dance teaching tyrant Abby Lee Miller, star of Lifetime’s “Dance Moms,” stopped by “Good Day LA” (weekdays, 9 a.m. PT on Fox) to talk about her upcoming acting gig on another Lifetime series

The notorious reality TV star is making an appearance on “Drop Dead Diva.” Miller said that she plays a loud, fierce dance coach, which doesn’t sound like much of a stretch. However, in the episode, she is testifying as an expert witness in a case about an abusive dance teacher.

Miller is not the only “Dance Moms” face to appear on “Drop Dead Diva” — she’s bringing her star student Maddie for the episode too.

Car dealer accidentally sold BMW for $1, honors the sale in spite of mishap

We’ve seen just about every mobile device around eventually going on sale in the long haul to as low as $0.99 or even free on contract. But for a BMW? Man, that’s extremely rare. But it happened anyway this week in New Zealand. A car dealership there, named Stadium Cars, accidentally sold a 1994 blue BMW 320i online for just $1. And soon enough, the sweet sounding mistake caught the ears of one Trade Me buyer named ”bignz” who is reportedly from Rangiora – a rural town in the South Island of New Zealand. Check out another photo after the break.

Lucky for him, after clicking the “buy now” button, he became the new proud owner of the BMW. Apparently the dealership honored the sale, in spite of the fact that it was a mistake. Stadium Cars manager Mike Nokes said the $1 price was an error. Nokes explained that the dealership will usually put up cars for auction on the site with a $1 reserve. The problem was that the buy now option was mistakenly added to the latest one. “I thought, ‘Whoops’, but it is what it is. You can only laugh about it,” Nokes said. “Obviously not an ideal outcome for us as the seller. However, we are firm believers in the auction process and for it to be fair to buyers and sellers alike.” Ouch, that was a costly typo. (more…)

Love For Gabby: Bloggers Start Digital Movement To Celebrate USA Gymnast Gabby Douglas

It’s pretty safe to say that the world has fallen in love with Gabby Douglas. After helping her team triumph in the women’s all-around final, and going on to grab her own gold in the individual all-around, Gabby’s captivating smile has popped up everywhere from television, to newsstands to cereal boxes.

The 16-year-old’s accomplishments have certainly made every American proud, but her historical achievement resonates strongly, particularly for the black community. As the first African American woman to win an individual gold medal in gymnastics, Douglas stands in a category all her own. However, her history-making moment was soured by what began with a few nay-sayers on Twitter and evolved into a full-on debate about the teen’s hairstyle.

In an effort to promote a more positive conversation and praise Douglas’ achievement, two bloggers came together to create the “Love For Gabby” digital movement. Both Adrienne Smith of Eclectic A and Desiré Greene of Sukio decided to show some love for Gabby.

Michael Barbar: Death Penalty Recommended For Paternity Test Killer

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — A California jury recommended the death penalty Friday for a man convicted of murdering his wife and her daughter after a paternity test showed he wasn’t the child’s father.

A Riverside County Superior Court jury returned the penalty-phase verdict against Michael Barbar, 55, after he was convicted last month of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Maysam Barbar, and her 6-year-old daughter, Tamara, in November 2009.

Mitt Romney Tax Returns Hammered By Democrats

WASHINGTON — Democrats are growing increasingly confident that a two-pronged tax attack on Republican Mitt Romney – one part policy, one part personal – will help President Barack Obama lure pivotal support from middle class voters.

Led by Obama, the Democrats are going after Romney for seeking to protect tax cuts for the wealthy and for refusing to release more information on the taxes he pays on his personal fortune.

RIM to cut 3,000 jobs next week, will be axing 2,000 more later this year

Tough times call for tough decisions. Sadly for Research In Motion, that meant axing a huge chunk of its workforce to stay alive while patiently hoping for a better start next year. RIM’s plan to cut jobs was first heard in June this year. Now, an insider has confirmed the news to BGR that the company will begin the layoffs next week. The “trusted source” said that more than 3,000 employees will be axed beginning next week, and that the layoffs will continue over the next couple of weeks.

Even worse is the news that the workers over at RIM are reportedly terrified because they don’t exactly know who’s going and who’s staying. Workers have been told that aside from those working on BlackBerry 10, “no department is out of bounds” for the latest round of reductions. RIM also confirmed the report saying that next week’s layoffs is a part of the company’s previous announcement in June to cut roughly 5,000 jobs this year. Check out RIM’s response after the break.
