In the early days of space exploration, NASA basically made up procedure on the fly. With little knowledge of the world outside our atmosphere, agency physicians worried what humans might encounter out there. Maybe John Glenn would go Space Blind. Maybe the Apollo 11 crew would track an Andromeda Strain through the Lunar Command Module, unleashing a deadly moon virus on a defenseless earth. More »
Something tells me that the real Wall-E might actually hire some of Apple’s lawyers in order to help it win a lawsuit against the Wall-Ye V.I.N. robot, although that would most probably not happen anytime soon. The ‘punny’ name best describes this 50cm tall robot that moves around on a quartet of wheels, boasting a pair of arms as well as half a dozen cameras. With those in its arsenal, the Wall-Ye V.I.N. robot is capable of pruning up to 600 vines each day, and the good news is, it will not report in as sick or laze around idly.
The Wall-Ye V.I.N. robot is the result of Burgundy-based inventor Christophe Millot, and will be one of the robots being developed worldwide that should be able to help vineyards ease the labor issues that they are facing at the moment. After all, working in a vineyard is no easy task, where it involves labor-intensive chores such as pruning and removing unproductive young shoots, in addition to collecting valuable data on the health and vigor of the soil, fruit and vine stocks.
The Wall-Ye V.I.N. robot will come with a sticker price of 25,000 euros ($32,000), but since it works all round the clock, and even on weekends, does not call in sick or chat idly, you’ve got a top notch worker here. Here’s hoping it does not meet its E.V.E.!

Sony did announce in an earlier and separate announcement that Wonderbook: Book of Spells will arrive Stateside this coming November, and not only that, there will also be 12GB and 500GB PS3 bundles that will be accompanied by the Move controller and PlayStation Eye camera, in addition to the Wonderbook title on the Blu-ray disc format. No idea on pricing details though, but at least you know for sure that your Hogwarts enrolment is ready to take off. Even so, your PS Move controller will function as your on-screen wand, which means there is no need to hunt down phoenix feathers to create a new wand when the current one is broken, since we’re all in the modern age now.
Are you looking forward towards the new console bundles for Wonderbook: Book of Spells? Not too sure if this title’s release is going to be a hit, since it is does not have a direct movie to be based upon, but chances are the hordes of Harry Potter fans will still pick this puppy up.

We’ve been waiting for RIM to make a complete comeback, and today at BlackBerry Jam they’ve been showing off what’s been brewing in RIM’s world. BlackBerry 10 has leaked a plenty but today right on stage they showed off all sorts of exciting new things. BlackBerry Hub, their new Peek notification system (which rocks) and now they’ve announced carrier testing is on track for October.
After RIM’s CEO stated BB10 wasn’t where he wanted it, and that he could still “see the seams” in the OS, they feel like they’ve got a complete product now that is worth giving to the world. Today on stage during BlackBerry Jam the new CEO Thorsten Heins has just confirmed what we all were wondering — BlackBerry 10 is on track for October.
Not only is it on track, but carrier testing is finally ready and will begin in late October. From there Heins stated that their official launch is still slated for early next year, which makes sense considering carriers won’t even begin their testing stages until next month. Then you’ll have Verizon adding in all their content and additional bloatware features, and all the carriers making their unique marks to the offering.
He then went on to state that the level of optimism and excitement from the providers was higher than expected, and that carriers all are moving forward and accepting BB10. We aren’t sure what all is planned, but Android and iOS sure haven’t been slowing down anytime soon so they’d better hurry. Check out more on BB10 below.

BlackBerry App World to sell music and movies, open to BB 10 app submissions on October 10th
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn addition to sharing new details about its forthcoming BlackBerry 10 OS, RIM used today’s BlackBerry Jam keynote to make an announcement about App World. The company just revealed that in addition to applications and games, the store will sell music, movies and TV shows — a move that brings it more in line with rival stores like Google Play and Apple’s App Store. That should please App World’s 80 million subscribers (a nice little figure RIM dropped in its keynote just now). Another stat: there are currently 105,000 apps in the store, with 3 billion downloads logged since the store’s opening. And, RIM says, BB 10 applications will join the herd soon: the company will begin accepting submissions on October 10th. Get it? BB 10 on 10/10? Clever, Thorsten.

RIM shows off native Facebook and Foursquare apps for BlackBerry 10, confirms Twitter and LinkedIn for launch
Posted in: Today's Chili
RIM has had to deal with a few big names leaving their BlackBerry apps behind, but it’s managed to keep four of the biggest on board for its forthcoming BlackBerry 10 devices. That includes Facebook, which will have a native app that RIM revealed for the first time at today’s BlackBerry Jam Americas conference. Not surprisingly, the app itself doesn’t look a whole lot different than the Facebook apps for Android or iOS, but it is fully integrated with the OS and promises to take advantage of the new Flow interface and features like the BlackBerry Hub. What’s more, while it didn’t demo them today, RIM also confirmed that BB10-specific LinkedIn, Twitter and Foursquare apps will also be available at launch.
Update: RIM did later give a quick demo of the Foursquare app (pictured after the break), which it says was able to be ported to BB10 in a week by just two developers.
