LG Optimus Vu 2 details leaked

When it comes to movies and books, sequels are the norm, and so too, does the same apply to the world of consumer electronics, smartphones and tablets in particular. The LG Optimus Vu 2 is no doubt the sequel to the LG Optimus Vu (which was considered to fall under the phablet category), carrying a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 5” display. Well, details on the LG Optimus Vu 2 has just been leaked from South Korean blog Bad IT Tong, where it will come with a 5” display as well, where it would feature a 1,024 x 768 resolution screen that is similar to that of the current Vu. At least the RAM count has been bumped up to 2GB, while the Qualcomm processor underneath the hood will receive an update to a 1.5GHz dual-core model, while retaining the LTE radio that is found in its US Intuition variant.

Forget about Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, as you will be one step behind with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, where it will be accompanied by an 8-megapixel rear shooter, and a microSD memory card slot that lets you hold up to 32GB of storage space. A 2,150 mAh battery should be able to help it last throughout the work day. There is no word on pricing details in the US just yet, so we will just have to wait and see.

iPhone 5 light leakage issues abound?

The “best iPhone yet” might be a wee bit misleading, as we mentioned in our review of the smartphone, and it does seem as though Apple has yet to figure out how to come up with an external surface for their iPhone that is able to look good right out of the box. Seriously, to have your new iPhone 5 arrive damaged en route speaks volumes on the level of quality (or rather, the lack of it for those affected) that Apple’s supply lines need to work on.

There are reports that owners of the white iPhone 5 do experience a wee bit of light leakage from the top end of their device. Granted, this particular issue need not be major a sore point, and is only noticeable when you use it in complete darkness, but it is an issue nonetheless, which is rather strange for a company that has a sense of meticulous perfection when they do things. Get the dark version of the iPhone 5 and you could have issues with the back case chipping or being damaged all too easily, settle for the white iPhone 5 and there is a possibility of light leakage. Which of the two evils would you settle for?

[Spoiler] Torchlight II Has a Guest from the Other Side of the Borderlands

Two of the most well-received games this year are both sequels, which were also released within a few days of each other: Torchlight II and Borderlands 2. It turns out these two games shared more than just a launch week, they also shared a robot:

torchlight ii borderlands 2 claptrap

Yep, that’s CL4P-TP aka Claptrap. Actually that’s a lot of Claptraps. Redditor anti087 was messing around with Torchlight II’s console commands when he discovered that he could summon the robot from Borderlands 2. According to several Redditors, to summon a unit in Torchlight II, all you have to do is bring up the console and type “unit monstername, x” or “monster monstername, x”, where monstername is the name of whatever it is you want to summon and x is the number of units of that monster that you want to appear. For example, if you want to summon one Claptrap, you can type in “unit claptrap,1″ or “monster claptrap,1″ (minus the quotes).

But why can you summon a Claptrap unit in Torchlight II?  Because he’s actually in the game as an Easter egg! Here’s proof from YouTuber pronstorestiffi:

Did he just give away his nut? Gross.

Engadget Live Join us at 4AM ET for an 'ask me anything' Q&A with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop!

You may have since forgotten, but today was the original kick-off day for Nokia World 2012. With the big show canceled and the devices already launched, we instead opted to drop by the smartphone maker’s headquarters just outside Helsinki. We’re spending three days here in Finland, meeting with executives to get an inside look at the company’s next-generation smartphone lineup. Our first face-to-face is with Nokia’s chief executive himself, Stephen Elop, who has generously offered up 30 minutes to answer your questions. Because of the time constraints, we won’t be able to accommodate every request, but we’ll certainly do our best.

There are two ways to submit your questions: leave a comment below, or you can send us a tweet @EngadgetLive — once the session begins, we’ll only be able to accept messages through Twitter, and you’re welcome to ask questions before we start and as a follow-up to Stephen’s responses, as well. In order to accommodate the largest possible audience, we’ll be using our liveblog tool to post both questions and answers, so bookmark this page and hop on over there at 4AM Eastern tomorrow. As always, you’ll also find the local time just below. Now about those questions…
