‘Modern Family’ Cast Terrorized By Lily In ‘Emmys 2012’ Behind-The-Scenes Video (VIDEO)

As funny as Jimmy Kimmel has proven himself in a live setting, he often gets laughs on his show just as big with some of his pre-taped gags. For “The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards,” Kimmel presented a bit that took viewers behind-the-scenes of the most awards-decorated comedy of the past three years.

Fans often wonder what actors and actresses are like when the cameras stop rolling. Even when they do the promotional junkets, it’s not always easy to tell how much of their true self is being exposed. In this bit, though, it seemed like the real Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who plays Lily on “Modern Family,” was beyond what anyone could have imagined.

Anderson-Emmons joined the show in its second season, when it was decided to age Lily up a bit so she could start having some speaking lines. Who could have known what a terror they would have unleashed on the set. To make matters worse, it looked like the entire adult cast was intimated by her.

Peugeot Onyx concept scooter

One great thing about conceptual designs is this – you need not be constrained by limitations in the real world, although sometimes a working concept is better than just a drawing. Which is why we are interested in the Peugeot Onyx concept scooter that will accompany the 507kW hybrid-powered Peugeot Onyx supercar concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show that will happen later this week. According to leaks, the three-wheeled Onyx-inspired Concept Scooter looks mean as heck, where it will follow a similar copper-and-matt black color scheme that is found on the diesel-hybrid Onyx, although since this is not a supercar, you can be sure that its performance levels will not be up to snuff.

At the back lies a solitary 17” wheel, and the entire Peugeot Onyx Concept Scooter functions as a plug-in hybrid setup that will merge a 400cc internal combustion engine alongside an electric motor, pumping out 45kW of power and 58Nm of torque in the process. Touted to hit a maximum speed of 150km/h, it has a fuel consumption of 2.0 litres per 100km, which is pretty far when you think about it. Of course, when running on pure electricity alone, its range varies from 30km in EV mode (at 50km/h) to 500km when working in tandem with the combustion engine. No idea on whether this concept will roll off the production line though – would you buy one if it did?

Google to shut down online music download service in China

Google has not had the best of relationships with China in the past, and here we are with word that the Internet search giant will shut down their online music download service in that part of the world from next month onwards because of pressure from its rivals such as Baidu Inc. and Tencent’s QQ. Tentatively, you can mark October 19th on your calendar as the shut down date, and the Shanghai Daily quoted Google by saying, “This is part of an ongoing effort across Google to bring greater focus to our portfolio of products. Our goal is to simplify and improve the Google experience for our users and to devote more resources to high impact products that improve the lives of billions of people.”

Google did admit that their attempt in making an impact with the music website came up “less than expected”, so it makes perfect sense to close its shutters instead of losing money by competing with domestic rivals. This comes across after the music website from Google debuted approximately three years ago.

Microsoft aware of zero day exploit for 7 weeks before emergency patch was issued?

We do know that the recent Zero Day exploit in Internet Explorer was patched by Microsoft (albeit this is but a temporary measure), but there are rumors going around that Microsoft was aware concerning this exploit for a good 7 weeks prior, and for a company of their size and stature to not do anything about it nor release a statement of caution to the masses reeks of irresponsibility – assuming that the rumors are true, of course.

An online source as reported by Gregg Keizer, said “Microsoft may have known about last week’s Internet Explorer (IE) zero-day bug for some time.” The security bulletin saw Microsoft issue thanks to “an anonymous researcher, working with TippingPoint’s Zero Day Initiative, for reporting the execCommand Use After Free Vulnerability ( CVE-2012-4969).” Assuming that the latest report was CVE-2012-4969, one can then make the inference that Microsoft was already aware of the IE Zero Day exploit for over seven weeks before Eric Romang, the researcher who announced the discovery of the exploit on a hacker-controlled server, did so in the middle of September. Juicy stuff, but rumors remain as just that until they are substantiated by cold, hard facts.

LG Tone+ Bluetooth stereo headset claims better call experience over 4G networks

Is one Bluetooth stereo headset different from another, or are they mostly the same, with a very thin line separating each other? LG thinks otherwise, touting that their latest LG Tone+ Bluetooth stereo headset is able to deliver a far superior call experience over 4G networks compared to the rest. Going by the model number HBS-730, the LG Tone+ will continue where the LG Tone left off, where it now supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) calls so that you are able to carry out conversations in High Definition (HD) sound between VoLTE-capable devices.

Paul Bae, Vice President of Marketing Center of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said, “LG was the world’s first company to demonstrate VoLTE technology and announce a VoLTE smartphone. And today, we are still at the forefront of efforts to advance the commercialization of VoLTE as a follow up to the global expansion of LTE. In order to provide our customers with a superior user experience over 4G networks, LG will continue to raise the bar on all its mobile products, including accessories that support LTE and VoLTE.”

YouTube videos served on older non-iOS 6 versions

For the remaining 85% of you who have yet to upgrade to iOS 6 and yet have a strong affinity towards YouTube on your mobile device, fret not. A YouTube representative did mention that they will continue to serve YouTube videos to older devices, never mind the fact that the YouTube app no longer arrives with a pre-installed status in iOS 6. You are still able to go through the selection of videos from within the old app, which interestingly enough, will be ad-free for a more fluid browsing and viewing experience.

Folks who do not want to make the upgrade to iOS 6 need not download the new YouTube app unless that is their desire. Still, this comes across as expected for YouTube to continue offering support for the old app, where perhaps there is the possibility that such support was part of the original agreement between Apple and Google who obviously, when approached, neither would divulge details concerning the partnership. Would you still want to get the latest version of YouTube regardless?

Iran blocks Google, prepares domestic Internet system

Iran has not had the best relationships with the US in the past, and this would obviously trickle down to affect other American products such as the US dollar, Gmail and YouTube, among others. Well, you can make Google to be part of the list now, as there is word that Iran intends to transfer their citizens’ virtual connection to a domestic Internet network, which is part of a move that officials had taken with the intention to improve cyber security, but the folks on the ground, everyday Iranians, have the concern that this is just another method for the Iranian government to control their access to the Internet.

This particular announcement was relayed by a government deputy minister on Sunday, where it was delivered via state television, announcing that not only Google’s search engine, but its Gmail email service as well, would be blocked “within a few hours”. The official delivering the announcement continued, “Google and Gmail will be filtered throughout the country until further notice.” That’s a more soothing word than “indefinitely” for sure.

According to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), the ban on Google had plenty to do with the anti-Islamic film which was posted on the company’s YouTube site, where it has since resulted in outrage throughout majority of the Muslim world, but this is just speculation and not an official confirmation. Once the blockade is in place, the next step would be connect ordinary Iranians to the national network, and the entire shebang starts to sound as though Iran is adopting steps that North Korea has taken.

If you dig Quentin Tarantino flicks, an eight movie, 10-disc Blu-ray boxed set is on the way that will probably pique your interest. Additionally, there’s special collectible packaging and artwork (shown after the break, along with the press release and full list of specs) and the two extra discs are filled with five hours of all new bonus interviews, retrospectives and the like. Apple wants more more money from Samsung in patent case settlement

We know that Apple and Samsung are not exactly bosom buddies in the corporate environment, and here we are with word that the Cupertino-based company is looking for more dough (as if they do not have enough cash in their reserves already), knocking on Samsung’s door for another $535 million in damages as part of their patent case settlement against the South Korean consumer electronics giant.

This would be in addition to the $1.05 billion that Apple was awarded in the court of law after a jury ruled in favor of Apple, claiming that Samsung did indeed infringe on half a dozen of Apple’s phone patents. I guess all of that money was not enough for Apple, as they had asked for another $135 million under the Patent Act and $400 million under the Lanham Act, according to Bloomberg. Not only that, Apple also wants a permanent injunction to be issued against sales of the infringed products. All of these are starting to sound a little bit crazy to me (personally, not a representative view of the site), what about you?

How would you change the HTC One X?

How would you change the HTC One X

Flagship phones are tricky customers when it comes to How Would You Change. Often, they’re handsets that have every feature thrown against the wall as companies see what sticks with customers. Hovering on the blistering edge of technology, it would seem there’s very few things wrong with (staff favorite) the HTC One X — although perhaps that makes any glaring that more notable. What we’d like you to do is place yourself in the position of HTC’s design mavens and work out what omission they could or should address when it comes time for a sequel.
