Andrew Cuomo Keeps Low Profile Amid 2016 Speculation

ALBANY, N.Y. — If New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is on the Democrats’ short list for president in 2016, he certainly isn’t acting like it.

He hasn’t been a high-profile surrogate for President Barack Obama. He hasn’t campaigned for endangered Democratic congressional candidates since before last June’s primary. He barely stopped by the Democratic National Convention, limiting his face time to a breakfast speech to the New York delegation miles from the convention’s stage.

Obama Launches Aggressive Effort Against Mitt Romney In Battleground States

BY STEVE PEOPLES, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BOSTON (AP) — Sensing an opening on the economy, President Barack Obama launched an aggressive new effort Saturday to convince voters in the most competitive states that Republican rival Mitt Romney is risky for the nation’s recovery with a plan that caters to multimillionaires over the middle class.

“They want to go back to the same old policies that got us in trouble in the first place,” former President Bill Clinton is shown saying in the 60-second TV ad set to run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia.

Rick Santorum: ‘Smart People’ Will Never Be On Our Side

WASHINGTON, DC — Former presidential candidate Rick Santorum attacked the media and “smart people” for not being on the side of conservatives in a speech to the Values Voter Summit on Saturday.

‘The Master’ Breaks Art House Box Office Records

The Master” got off to a strong start at Friday’s box office, grossing $242,127 for an impressive $48,425 per-screen average, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The take puts the film, inspired by the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, on pace to break art house records for opening weekend ticket revenue.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, “The Master” stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams. It has been widely praised by critics, although some have criticized the movie for not providing viewers with enough answers.

Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” was the previous record-holder for opening weekend art house box office location average. It took in $522,996 in its opening weekend back in May, but only played on four screens, giving it a $43,082 location average.

Heidi Klum Pink Hair: The Supermodel Takes The Ombre Plunge (PHOTOS, POLL)

Heidi Klum has accomplished so much since the start of her career that she may want to start following the mantra “never say never” — at least when it applies to her hair.

The 39-year-old supermodel debuted her “Truly Scrumptious Collection” at Babies ‘R’ Us on Friday along with a freshly-dyed new hairstyle. The pink ombre ‘do was an interesting choice for a woman who vowed never to venture into rose-colored territory though. When asked back in May if she’d ever try the look, the recent divorcée told Stylelist that she was too old:

No, no way! It’s an age thing — if you’re a model and 19 or 20 or doing a photo shoot, it’s easy to pull off. It wouldn’t be age-appropriate for me, it would look weird and people would think I lost my marbles! But I would let my daughters try it!

Ceton Echo WMC extender beta units set to ship in October, on target for November release

Now that Ceton has pushed its Companion mobile apps for Windows Media Center out the door, our attention returns to the hardware we got a look at during CES. A blog post from the company indicates the Echo extender has passed FCC and CE certifications, with alpha tests under way. If you’re not in position to borrow a unit from the home of an employee, your next opportunity to obtain one will come when the beta starts. The 1,000 applicants accepted should receive ordering information around the end of this month before hardware ships on October, which, if there are no delays, could mean general availability as soon as November. Still waiting for word on that slick six tuner Q DVR? So are we, but an update, along with final specs for the Echo version 1, are promised at the end of the month.

Facts and Myths About Fueling Up Before Your Workout

By Rebecca Scritchfield

As a sports nutritionist, I work with people whose workout regimens span a range of activity, from strength training and dance classes to racing in 5Ks and 50 milers.

While there’s no question that my clients need tailored recommendations for fueling their activity, it amazes me how many of them don’t eat properly before a workout. Even more concerning is the misguided idea among some that avoiding food before workouts is somehow better because it “helps the body burn more fat.” False. In this post, I’ll shed some light on fueling up for your best workout.
