Google Plays Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, Solves Everything. Showoff.

Think you’re good at Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon? Google dares you to challenge its search engine. All you have to do is type an actor’s name and then “bacon number” (without the quotes) and the all-knowing box spits out the answer.

google bacon number

I even tried non-American actors and it still wasn’t fazed. Attempting to introduce a loop won’t make it hang either:

As if YouTube wasn’t enough of a time sink already. Thanks Google.

It’s Time For Baby Boomers To Cede Control

As baby boomers start clicking the senior citizen box on travel fares, I want to say a word to my generation and to the one that preceded us.

It is time for us to get out of the way.

Bill Maher’s New Rule About ‘God’ On Money (VIDEO)

It’s not exactly surprising that the self-styled “America’s favorite celebrity atheist” would have a problem with putting the word “God” on our currency. But when Mitt Romney made the pledge last week that he would never change that — after literally no one asked him if he would — Maher was ready to pounce, and pounce he did on at the end of Friday’s New Rules segment on “Real Time.”

“If there’s one place God should not be, it’s on money. One is a supreme, all-powerful entity that Americans worship above all else. And the other is God.”

Bacon Barter: Comedian Josh Sankey Travels America Using Only Bacon As Currency In Oscar Meyer Campaign (PHOTOS)

In what could be called the most original ad campaign, Oscar Meyer is sponsoring the cross-country trip of comedian and actor Josh Sankey…using only bacon as currency.

Sankey has so far traveled from New York (where he bartered his way to Jets tickets) to Illionois in a trailer along with 3,000 pounds of Oscar Meyer’s new Butcher Thick Cut bacon, which he calls his “wing man.”

HuffPost Travel caught up with him on Saturday after he spent the night in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood at the local firehouse (engine company 35, truck 28).

Celebrity Divorce: 5 Celebrities Who Joked About Divorce

Divorce is no laughing matter, but that hasn’t stopped celebrities from poking fun at their splits.

From twice-divorced Robin Williams’ famous quote, “Ah, yes, divorce…from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man’s genitals through his wallet,” to Mickey Roony’s equally snarky, “A lot of people have asked me how short I am. Since my last divorce, I think I’m about $100,000 short,” celebrities illustrate that laughter is really the best post-split medicine. Click through the slideshow for five other celebs who joked about their divorces.

John Roberts Health Care Switch Detailed By Jeffrey Toobin In New Book

Three months after the Supreme Court handed down its landmark ruling on President Obama’s health care law, new details have emerged on Chief Justice John Roberts’ controversial vote in favor of upholding the Affordable Care Act.

According to excerpts of a new book by New Yorker writer and CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin published in Politico’s Playbook on Saturday, Roberts had originally intended to side with his fellow conservatives on the court and overturn the law. However, Roberts’ position turned “wobbly” as he considered the implications the ruling would have on his legacy.

Toobin reports:

T-Mobile’s Tappy is a device testing robot

Have you ever wondered just when did the world of mobile phones make the jump to that of a full touchscreen display? Well, I guess the Palm Treo (did you remember that particular smartphone? I had a Treo 600, and was in love with it for a long time) was one of the first few commercially successful models, but none of them really caught the imagination of the masses until the iPhone from Apple came out. Fantastic marketing, a decent product, with a ripe market, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for success. The iPhone has not looked back since, and has gone on to break new records with each successive release. This also introduced an era of touchscreen displays for smartphones, leading up till today when T-Mobile talked about their Tappy device testing robot.

According to Grant Castle, vice president of engineering services and quality assurance for T-Mobile USA, Tappy is a custom built software testing robot, and T-Mobile is proud to announce that they are the only carrier in the US to offer such a robot at their disposal.

Tappy will play the role of the consumer, where he has been specially programmed to simulate just what kind of real world scenarios that users or customers will face when using a touchscreen display on their smartphones, and since this is a robot that needs not rest, eat or sleep, the robot is able to test an entire week’s worth of use over the course of 24 hours, ranging from the keyboard to user interface speeds which is the responsiveness of the software is to the user’s commands, battery life, music, voice calls, gaming, text messaging, e-mail, web browsing, and app downloads amongst others.

It is not that easy to pass Tappy’s test, as the device being tested will need to run non-stop for 24 hours, while executing hundreds of tasks without running into a single hiccup, stall, freeze or glitch.

Tappy’s debut half a decade ago, coupled with numerous quality improvement programs, has effectively allowed T-Mobile to reduce device return costs by 75%, now how about that?

As a T-Mobile customer, are you happy with what T-Mobile has done?

Olympus E-PL5 & E-PM2 Interchangeable Lens Cameras Leaked

It’s been quite a month for leaks and the announcement of new cameras by various manufacturers. This week, a pair of new Olympus interchangeable lens compact cameras leaked as well. A few scant details of the cameras were also offered along with the leaked photos.

oly 1

The black camera you see is said to be called the E-PL5, with the silver camera called the E-PM2. As you can clearly tell, both offer interchangeable lenses and look very similar. At first glance you could almost mistake them as two different colors of the same camera. However there are slight differences, such as the black camera having a knurled knob on the top, likely a manual control of some sort.

oly 2
Rumor has it that both cameras will use the same sensor as found in the Olympus E-M5. The cameras also should have the same image processing engine called TruePic VI. Both of the cameras are also said to have touch screens on the back. The silver camera is said to sell for €399 (~$523 USD) with the black camera going for €599 (~$785 USD). Both prices reportedly include 14-42 mm kit lenses. Expect more details in the coming weeks.
