Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate confirmed for Wii U and 3DS in 2013

So yesterday Nintendo America officially revealed that the Wii U console would be released in the US come 18th of November and will be priced at $299 and $349 for the basic set and deluxe set respectively. If that wasn’t good enough news for Wii U hopefuls, it seems that we can expect Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to make its way onto the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS console as well! This was revealed by Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto himself, and according to the announcement video, gameplay will not be console-exclusive, meaning that players can save their games on their Wii U or 3DS and pick up where they left off on either device.

The game will of course be taking advantage of the touchscreen capabilities of both consoles, although the full details of that have yet to be revealed. Either way Tsujimoto has promised that they will be updating us on the progress of the game regularly, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for more updates. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U and 3DS is expected to see a release in March of 2013.

Panasonic Lumix GH3 revealed in video

About a week ago, we reported that alleged specs of the Panasonic Lumix GH3 were revealed, some of which included a new 16MP “Wide dynamic range” CMOS sensor, a new Venus 7 engine, WiFi with remote control abilities via iOS and Android devices and a slightly bigger build compared to its predecessor, the GH2. While those specs have yet to be confirmed, a new YouTube video has popped up online and appears to have been uploaded by Panasonic themselves which basically shows off some of the sample photos that were taken by the camera. We’re not sure if this is a leak as the YouTube video is still up there (at least for the moment), so perhaps it was meant as a teaser to whet our appetites for when the camera will be revealed (hopefully) in full at Photokina next week. In the meantime, what do you guys think? Is the GH3 the upgrade to the GH2 you’ve been waiting for?

2013 Range Rover makes its US debut

Land Rover has previously shown off the new 2013 Range Rover, its top-of-the-line SUV, in Europe only. Land Rover has now gone official with the unveiling the event for the United States. The official US unveil for the high-end SUV was conducted at Stone Mansion in New Jersey.

Along with the official US unveil came the official US pricing for the SUV. The 2013 Range Rover will start at $83,500. We already know most of the details of the 2013 Range Rover, but I’ll run down all the important details again. The 2013 Range Rover went on a diet courtesy of an all aluminum unibody structure that is lighter and stronger than ever before.

Copious use of aluminum in the SUV allowed the new Range Rover to save about 700 pounds of weight compared to the previous generation. While the vehicle is lighter it has also been developed from the ground up to be an exceptionally capable off-road vehicle. The US version of the Range Rover will use a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine.

The Range Rover starts at $83,500, and a high-end Autobiography version of the SUV will sell for $130,950. The new Range Rover also gets special suspension for improved ride comfort and gains 4.7-inches of legroom in the backseat compared to previous models. The new SUV also gets Land Rover’s new Terrain Response 2 Auto system that automatically selects the appropriate driving mode for the conditions.

Canon PowerShot G15 gets pictured [Rumor]

The folks at Canon Price Watch have managed to get their hands on what appears to be the Canon PowerShot G15, leaving us to wonder what happened to the models in between the G12. Either way specs of the camera cannot be confirmed yet, but if the rumors are to be believed, its specs are said to be close with its predecessor, the G12, although it will feature the DIGIC V processor and a faster lens with an f/1.8 aperture that will undoubtedly aid in low-light photography without the need for flash (when possible). It also appears that the built-in flash will be a popup one as well. Perhaps Canon will reveal the G15 at Photokina which will be taking place next week, so if you’re in the market for a prosumer-level compact camera, then check back with us next week where hopefully we will have additional details to share with you.

iPhone 5 pre-order shipping time estimates slip to 2 weeks

So we reported earlier that pre-orders for Apple’s new iPhone 5 had gone live. Well despite sentiments online which displayed the disappointment of many hopefuls regarding the iPhone 5, it looks like the numbers don’t lie and if you weren’t quick enough to place your pre-order in a timely manner, you’re going to have to wait a little longer for your iPhone 5 to arrive. Yup it looks like estimated shipping times for the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Australia have now slipped to a 2 weeks waiting time which means that those who purchase the phone now might have to wait up to an additional 2 weeks after the official release on the 21st.

Of course the alternative would be to go and line up at the retail stores if you really want the phone on the 21st itself, if not we guess iPhone 5 hopefuls will need to be patient. So, will you be lining up at an Apple store, or will you be waiting up to an additional 2 weeks, or will you not be getting the iPhone 5 after being “disappointed”?

Update – It seems like you can order directly from AT&T where the phone is still expected to ship on the 21st of September. We just placed our order so we know it’s still available, at least for now. We did run into a couple of hiccups due to server issues, so you might have to try a couple of times for the order to get processed.

LG Optimus L9 saunters through FCC, asks for a Martini

LG Optimus L9 saunters through FCC, asks for martini afterward

LG’s latest L-series smartphone, the Optimus L9, has just breezed (elegantly) through the FCC’s radio frequency trial-by-screwdriver. The dinner-jacket-white clad Android smartphone is part of the “L-Style design philosophy” from the Korean maker, which emphasizes budget panache over brute performance. As such, it’s a handsome but plasticky device, with a 4.7-inch IPS screen, ICS, qtranslator language app, dual-core 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 2,150mAh battery and 5-megapixel shooter. Vodafone in Europe showed the price as €340 unsubsidized or €50 on contract, but a member of the L-series family has yet to cross the pond. However, a surprise peek of its Optimus L7 sibling as US Cellular’s upcoming Splendor shows there’s some hope for a stateside cameo.

PowerSkin debuts first NFC-enabled battery case for Galaxy S III

Smartphone cases that have extra batteries inside have been around for a long time. The type of case was one of the accessories that became common for users of the original iPhone years ago and then came to market for myriad of other devices. One of the companies making many of these battery cases is PowerSkin.

PowerSkin has announced a new battery case for the Samsung Galaxy S III that has an internal rechargeable battery to extend runtime of the smartphones and NFC technology inside. The company claims that this is the first ever NFC-enabled smartphone battery case for the device. The silicone case has a 1500 mAh battery inside.

The NFC wireless technology allows the smartphone to communicate with other devices close to it using magnetic-field induction. The case has special technology to allow NFC signals to pass through the silicone case for quick information sharing. Other features of the battery case include smart power management that shuts off the PowerSkin internal battery when the phone is fully charged.

That smart management saves power inside the case’s battery for longer run time when it’s needed. The case has LED lights on the back to indicate how much power is left in its internal battery. The case also ships with the cable needed for charging and synchronizing of the phone while charging the case. The Samsung Galaxy S III PowerSkin is available right now for $79.99.

iPhone 5 pre-orders go live

If the iPhone 5 was the iPhone you’ve been hoping and waiting for since the iPhone 4S, well the good news is that you can now pre-order the handset via Apple’s website. This is for those who are hoping to avoid the lengthy, and rather infamous queues that are known to take place outside Apple retail stores around the world, and have the phone delivered to them at their home. Prices will vary from country to country, but for those in the US you will have to pick it up on contract with a carrier of your choice, so if you’re hoping to get it unlocked, you will have to wait for a while. For those who manage to place a pre-order in a timely fashion, you should get it on the 21st of September barring no delays or mishaps, so for more information, head on over to Apple’s website for the details.
