Gov. John Hickenlooper Opposes Legal Weed: ‘Colorado Is Known For Many Great Things, Marijuana Should Not Be One Of Them’

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today he is opposing Amendment 64, Colorado’s marijuana legalization measure which seeks to regulate and tax marijuana like alcohol and will on the Nov. 6 ballot.

“Colorado is known for many great things –- marijuana should not be one of them,” Hickenlooper said in a statement. “Amendment 64 has the potential to increase the number of children using drugs and would detract from efforts to make Colorado the healthiest state in the nation. Obama Sees 4 Point Convention Bounce In Fox News Poll

President Barack Obama leads Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney 48 to 43 percent among likely voters, according to a poll released Wednesday by Fox News. The numbers represent a 4-point bump since the conventions, due in large part to increased support from women and independents.

From Fox News:

The conventions helped a number of undecided independents pick a candidate. Before the Republican convention in Tampa, independents backed Romney by a 10-point margin (42-32 percent) and 26 percent were undecided. Today independents go for Obama by 5 points (44-39 percent) and 17 percent are undecided.

Ladue High School ‘Senior List’ Details Sexual And Hygiene Habits Of Several Female Students (VIDEO)

An embarrassing and obscene “Senior List” describing the personal and sexual habits of female upperclassmen at a Missouri high school is the focus of one furious parent’s crusade, KTVI reports.

Ruth Alhemeier, a mother at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, said the vulgar list constitutes a federal title IV violation, and she isn’t afraid to take legal action if the harassment continues.

Alhemeier, who shared copies of the list with local television stations, said the document is distributed around campus toward the end of each school year. Alhemeier’s daughter, who graduated in May, brought the list to her mother’s attention last spring, after copies started showing up all over the school’s campus.

GOP Senators Drop Opposition To Aiding Combat-Injured Troops With Reproductive Services

WASHINGTON — Help for combat-wounded troops who want to start families became a bit more likely Wednesday as Senate Democrats stiff-armed GOP opposition to a bill that would provide broader fertility treatment benefits.

Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Defense Department provide some limited benefits to military couples who cannot have children because the husband or wife was injured in combat. But both the VA and the Pentagon specifically deny benefits to couples who cannot conceive on their own and need assisted reproductive services such as sperm donors, egg donors or other surrogates.

In a recent decision, the Pentagon said it will continue to deny support for male service members who cannot produce their own sperm because of combat injuries. Pentagon lawyers told The Huffington Post that the issue was so complex that it required more study.
