Super Mario Bros. Cookie Cutters Make Some Sugary 1-up Mushrooms

The only thing better than cookies are cookies shaped like geeky things. Like things from Super Mario Bros. for example. Oreos are good? Are you serious? They are just round cookies with cream in the center. Chips Ahoy? So what? These Super Mario cookie cutters will make some awesome cookies. Things just taste better when they are shaped like video game characters.

These 3D-printed Mario themed cookie cutters from Etsy seller WarpZone are just $18(USD) for a set of seven. All of your favorites are here, like Mario and Luigi, Boo, Toad, a star, Goomba and a mushroom. If you can find anything this frakkin’ cool in a bag of Keebler cookies… You can’t.

Come on Nintendo. You are missing a marketing opportunity here. Get with a cookie company and give us some cool snacks. Until they do, we will just have to make our own.

iPhone 5 Lightning dock connector revealed to run alongside Thunderbolt

This week Apple showed off a brand new dock connector for their iPhone 5, and likely for the rest of their mobile line eventually, called Lightning. This cord uses an “all-digital 8-signal design” with an adaptive interface – works with either side up – and is 80 percent smaller than the previous iPod dock solution. This little beast has “improved durability” over the previous cords Apple has worked with and Apple has shown off an Adapter as well – the adapter here will allow you to work with the old 30-pin dock connector too if you’ve got those kinds of accessories.

Note that this technology is a brand effort as well as a technology effort. Apple has made it clear that Thunderbolt is a technology that they’ve branded themselves – so to speak – while Lightening is another brand of theirs here with this cord first and foremost. We’re going to see a whole lot more of this technology in the near future from Apple, you can bet!

UPDATE: Check out the pricing and release details for the basic cord as well as the converter devices and adapters as well – up in the Apple Store online now!

This iPhone 5 news comes along with a massive bunch of details for the device that have been shown off all day long – and will be shown at great length over the next week as well. Stay tuned to our Apple portal for all the information you need on this iPhone 5 as it hits store shelves later this month – or so we expect! Have a peek at the timeline below for more information on the iPhone 5 and whatever else we see here at the Apple event as it unfolds through the day!

Samsung’s flagship smartphone, Galaxy S3 has already surpassed the 20 million sales mark within 100 days. Those figures have made Galaxy S3 the most successful smartphone by Samsung. iOS 6 debuts on the iPhone 5

Milk and honey, strawberries and cream, sugar and spice, husband and wife, iOS 6 and iPhone 5. They all jive together and dance best when synergized, and the same can be said about iOS 6, Apple’s latest version of their highly successful mobile operating system. Of course, we did see a teaser of iOS 6 at WWDC earlier this year, where we are led by the nose to discover the wonders of tighter Facebook integration in addition to a spanking new map application that lessens the dependency on Google Maps, Passbook support, and “Do Not Disturb” to boot. Well, the iOS 6 is now official where it was spotted running on the newly minted iPhone 5. Check out what else there is about iOS 6 in the extended post.

Apple details iPhone 5 and its thinner 8 megapixel camera

Apple’s got a brand new camera lens inside of the new iPhone 5 so all you photo snappers and Instagram lovers can prepare for some goodness. Apple’s just detailed their all new 8 megapixel camera, as well as the 720p capable Facetime front shooter although nothing is extremely new.

Essentially what we have is a near identical camera as what we saw with last years iPhone 4S. The difference here is of course quality will be slightly improved, but they’ve also made it thinner, much thinner. The iPhone 5 is being touted as the world’s thinnest smartphone and this plays a big role. How big exactly? 25% thinner while still managing to improve the specs and features.

As you can see from the image above, the 8 megapixel camera has a 3,264 x 2,448 backside-illuminated sensor, f/2.4 aperture and more. This is the same as the previous generation only thinner. This helps the device reach that ultra thin level it couldn’t achieve before. The new camera being smaller helps them pack everything in here. I’m excited about that new and improved dynamic low light mode! More details coming up shortly and once again, follow along at live.slashgear.com

iPhone 5 4-inch Retina display detailed with massive resolution

The iPhone 5′s display has been revealed today at Apple’s press event, bringing with it a lovely 1136 x 640 screen resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio across 4-inches of space. This device will be rolling out with a Retina quality display, mind you, at 326 PPI, amongst the most high-definition on the market today. This display offers a 5th row of icons for the iOS 6 experience and still fits in our hand with the same width as the iPhone 4S and before.

This device has also been shown to be bringing an improved camera on the back – though it is still called 8 megapixels, it’s a big boost, as well as audio and video enhancements as well. The iPhone 5 will come with three microphones for better noise cancellation than ever before as well as an improved A6 chip under the hood. The iPhone 5 is set to bring on a new era of mobile products for Apple with its new 16-pin port plug for USB and will be coming soon to an Apple store near you.

The iPhone 5 Comes With The New “Lightning” Connector

zdVU6

The iPod dock connector was built into every iPhone and iPod (except the iPod Shuffle) since 2003. But Apple finally upgraded the port to Lightning for the iPhone 5 at the press conference today. The rumors were true, it is an 8-pin port that transports only digital data and is 80 percent smaller. Even though many things are now done wirelessly thanks to AirPlay, Wi-Fi syncing and other technologies, the connector is still indispensable.

Durability was improved, it is reversible and therefore easier to use. But what about all your old accessories? Apple will sell adaptors to allow you to plug your old accessories.

In a video, Apple stated that the new connector was needed to free up some space inside the device and to make the iPhone 5 smaller.

Apple did not give many details and quickly moved to the next topic. We are still left wondering what the new connector is capable of aside from charging your device. Let’s just hope that the new connector is here to stay for the next ten years.
