Prexiso is a Swiss manufacturer of precision laser sights for surveyors and everyone else who needs to measure things finely and accurately. Now they’ve brough their technology to the iPhone, and also added app functionality. Their previous laser distance measuring tools were handheld, tiny LCD affairs aimed at professionals, but now they’ve made the tape measure look obsolete for consumers.

LG outs three new Windows 8 devices with the H160 Hybrid laptop, the V325 AIO and a new Tablet
Posted in: Today's ChiliLG just announced in Korea three new Windows 8 powered devices with the H160 Hybrid laptop, the V325 Tablet and a new AIO. The first model the H160 is a 11.6″ slider like laptop with a IPS Panel that will weight just around 1.05kg for a battery life of 10h and that pretty much all what we now as for now. Indeed LG did not give any details on the H160 flavor of Windows 8 (RT or not) of is this device will be powered by an Ivy Bridge CPU, ATOM or else. The second model announced is the …
Earlier this morning, a ton of details leaked about Google’s upcoming Android event on October 29, including some details about LG‘s rumored Nexus 4 device. However, it turns out that LG actually confirmed today that a Nexus device from the company would indeed be announced on October 29, according to an LG exec.
We were pretty confident to begin with that LG was going to be the manufacturer that would make the next Nexus handset, and we heard over a week ago that the LG Nexus 4 was going to be announced on the 29th, so we’re not too surprised by that fact. However, we are surprised that we’ve heard word from an LG head about the matter.
LG’s Mobile Product Planning head Amit Gujral said that “Google will unveil the LG Nexus on October 29 and the phone will be available in the Indian markets by the end of November.” He doesn’t reveal the actual name of the device (we’re guessing the LG Nexus won’t be the final name), so the Nexus 4 is still merely just a working name for now until we actually see it announced come next week.
The Nexus 4 will be based on LG’s Optimus G, which features a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core chip, along with a hardy 2GB of RAM. It also have a 4.7-inch True HD IPS+ 1280×768 LCD screen. You can check out our full review of the device to get a feel for what the next Nexus device might look like.

Mega Man Bobble Heads Bobble on By
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you’re a fan of Mega Man (or Rockman if you live in Japan), then you’ll definitely want to put down your NES controller long enough to grab this set of cool and bubbly Mega Man Bobble Buddies.
These 3.5-inch-tall bobble heads capture the spirit some of my favorite Mega Man characters, including Elec Man, Proto Man, Guts Man and of course, Mega Man himself. Now they need to make a Sniper Joe bobble head to go with. You can pre-order them over at Entertainment Earth for $34.99(USD) for the complete set of four, and they ship this November.
On a totally unrelated note, have there ever been Bubble Bobble bobble heads? There really should be.

This Monday it became apparent that Amazon’s cloud services were knocked out in several sectors, this resulting in downtime for major websites and environments such as Reddit, Github, Minecraft, and Flipboard. Amazon has previously had similar events to these happen to their servers, with overheating and automatic shutdowns being blamed in those cases – now we’ve not quite got an official statement from the company even after a significant chunk of the day has passed. In other words – Reddit is down, it’s not just you.
Today’s outage appears to be centered around their EC2 operations with Amazon’s status for the area currently flipped to “performance issues.” This status does not include official word from Amazon as of yet, but the cards do not lie. The EC2 status as listed by Amazon’s own Amazon Web Services status listing have gone from “degraded performance” at 10:30 AM PDT to “new launches for EBS backed instances are failing” closer to 11:30 AM PDT.
You can watch the updates yourself at Amazon’s Web Services update page while you wait for the web giants to come back – meanwhile we’ll be following along and updating you from SlashGear here as it happens as well. The current statuses surrounding North America, especially in the Eastern region of the states, let us know that Amazon is not only seeing outages in several areas, but that re-launching said services is currently a no-go.
If you have a peek at Outage Analyzer you’ll find that they’ve made it clear that Amazon’s outages have likely affected nearly 100 domains across North America up through Canada and Alaska as well as through the UK and surrounding countries. The outage remains open through the 3PM CST hour. This list of downed sites continues to grow with Airbnb, Heroku, and Netflix being added here right before this post is published – stay tuned!
UPDATE: 3:10 PM CST – Affected sites list grows – Pinterest, FastCompany, FourSquare added. Failures appear sporadic as some sites appear to be up and running intermittently while others remain down for the count.
UPDATE: 4:19 PM CST – Several sites (including Reddit) appear to be coming back up for air now here and there – of course heavy loads are expected due to the mass amounts of cat pictures that were waiting to be uploaded and viewed.

Jackets with Integrated Goggles Will Shield Your Eyes While Freaking People Out
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt’s that time of the year again, when the cold winds begin to blow and it won’t be long before the snow begins to fall. It’s time to bring the thick, woolly winter coats out and bury the cardigans under the closet where they’ll be until summer rolls around once more.
Jackets come in all shapes, forms, and sizes. They also come in utterly ridiculous designs (that they’re almost good?), such as the Ai Riders on the Storm hooded nylon jackets from LUISAVIAROMA.
As its name suggests, it’s a nylon, hooded jacket. But nowhere in its name does it make any mention of the weirdest creepiest strangest niftiest feature ever to grace a jacket: the integrated goggles. While I admit they’ll come in handy during a snow storm, this jacket will also probably scare the living daylights out of people who might see you wearing it.
Especially if it’s fully zipped.
Selling for between $424 and $492(USD), they’re pretty expensive for my taste, too. If for some reason you want to wear one, you can get the men’s version here and the women’s version here.

USB ports will immediately surrender when you threaten them with Benchmade’s Bali-USB drive. Not only does it look like a balisong – aka butterfly knife – you can also flip and twirl it around, minus the risk of being stabbed.
The drive is modeled after Benchmade’s 62 Bali-Song knife. Aside from the blade being swapped out, the USB drive is also made of plastic instead of steel, probably to make it cheaper. Here’s a demo video by YouTuber WHbluelife:
BladeOps is selling the 4GB model of the Bali-USB flash drive for the wallet-slashing price of $30 (USD).
