NEW YORK — For the second night in a row, superstorm Sandy and its aftermath forced David Letterman to live out that performer’s nightmare: Telling jokes to a vacant theater, or as he called it, “a big ol’ empty barn.”

Letterman hosting the “Late Show” to an unpeopled Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday, as he did on Monday, was the oddest sight of the considerable and continuing cultural fallout of the hurricane that left New York institutions like Broadway, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center no more open for business than the city’s damaged subway system.

Soothe Dry, Chapped Lips With Homemade Lip Balm (VIDEO)

When it comes to lip balm, everybody’s got their go-to tube that they keep within reach (and a well-stocked stash). But the last thing you want to do, especially during the cold-weather season, is constantly lick your lips like LL Cool J. Not only is it not as sexy, but your saliva is only drying out your lips even more, forcing the ChapStick to work extra hard. So, it’s only right that we keep our lips moisturized how we know best.

In the video above, BellaSugar reporter Kirbie Johnson shows us how to make a cool ombre lip balm at home using hydrating ingredients like beeswax and coconut oil. The four-step process calls for melting the ingredients in separate glass bowls and adding Kool-Aid and lipstick for coloring. Kirbie’s trick to getting the two-toned effect: using a chemical dropper to layer into tube before cooling in the fridge.

Sendai Airport Bomb: Japan Airport Reopens After WWII Explosive Find

TOKYO — A major airport in northern Japan reopened Wednesday after bomb squads barricaded the area around an unexploded bomb from World War II.

Flights resumed at Sendai Airport after military troops worked through the night to pile sandbags around the 250-kilogram (550-pound) bomb, which was uncovered during construction near a runway two days earlier.

The fashion wild child dominated MTV in the ’80s and influenced girls everywhere to just have fun with neon makeup, lots of bangles and colorful hair. LG Nexus 4 hits O2 UK on November 13

The LG Nexus 4 will land exclusively on O2 in the UK, the carrier has announced, with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean smartphone set to hit stores on Tuesday, November 13. Launched on Monday – you can check out our hands-on here – the Nexus 4 runs the latest version of Android on a quadcore Snapdragon S4 processor, with a 4.7-inch LCD display and 8-megapixel camera.

That camera is used with the new Photo Sphere 360-degree tool, with images that can be shared on Google+ or added to Google Maps. More on Android 4.2 here. There’s also wireless charging, though O2 hasn’t said whether it will be bundling the wireless dock in with the phone, or selling it optionally.

The handset itself will be free with a new agreement of £36 per month or above, assuming a two-year contract. That will include unlimited calls and unlimited messages, along with 1GB of data; the Nexus 4 lacks LTE, but then so does O2 at the moment.

Of course, Google will be selling the Nexus 4 itself, and if you can afford some upfront cost – £239 for the 8GB, £279 for the 16GB – and then opt for a SIM-only deal, you could save some money versus a contract with O2. In the US, T-Mobile will be doing carrier duties for the subsidized Nexus 4, though Google will also be offering its unlocked version.

Man with bionic leg to climb 103 flights of stairs this Sunday

The human spirit is an amazing thing and we often see people with disabilities perform feats that defy the human limitations. Zac Vawter is hoping to do just that by putting his prosthetic leg to the test. After losing his leg in a motorcycle accident, the 31-year old was fitted with a pretty awesome prosthetic limb that can be controlled by his thoughts, providing him with a greater degree of control and flexibility compared to regular prosthetic limbs, and come this Sunday he will be putting his bionic leg to the test by climbing 103 flights of stairs to the top of Chicago’s Willis Tower. Presidential Polls: Barack Obama’s Ohio Lead Holds

WASHINGTON — With less than a week remaining before results are counted, the presidential race remains remarkably close, with President Barack Obama maintaining a very narrow lead in most polls over Republican nominee Mitt Romney in Ohio, the state whose outcome could well decide the election.

A new Ohio poll released on Wednesday morning by CBS News, The New York Times and The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute showed Obama maintaining a 5 percentage point advantage over Romney in Ohio, the same margin as on a previous CBS/Quinnipiac survey conducted in the state two weeks ago.
