We’ve featured a number of awesome geeky wall decals and posters, but if you want to see something new everyday you might want to help Wallbrights become a real product. It’s a modular stick-on multicolored lighting solution that can be controlled via an app.
The concept involves small strips or hexagons that house diffused LEDs. The modules are attached to each other via male and female connectors. The idea is to piece together as many modules as you want, with one module close to a power outlet so you can connect it to its power adapter, which also serves as a Bluetooth receiver. You can then toggle the lights on or off or change their colors using an app from a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device.
Quirky is currently conducting a survey to determine the marketability of Wallbrights. I think it’s a really cool concept, although it would be better if they could also be used to display pictures or messages.
A few years ago texting was the bomb. It was quick, easy, way better than having to open yourself up to an actual back-and-forth conversation with someone, and perfect for surreptitious communication in class or meetings or whathaveyou. That said, I’d be glad to never get a text message ever again. More »
Sorry for the lack of news last week! Have your complaints sent to Homeland Security (US)
Posted in: Today's ChiliDear readers, I am truly sorry if last week I was unable to publish any news on the site, and I would like to, once again, thanks Ike Leus for his help and effort to bring a few things online for us all. So what happened? Well Last week I was supposed to fly to the US for business and at my arrival at JFK I have been “flagged” for a “random check”. This is not the first time this happen to me in the US over the past decade, but this very particular “check” …
Maeby’s back and better than ever!
In a recent interview with rollingstone.com, Alia Shawkat — who plays the eccentric Maeby on “Arrested Development” — opened up about how she and her co-stars felt about the series the first time around.
“The only difference is all of a sudden people care about it and are actually paying attention and are really looking forward to it,” Shawkat said of filming season 4 of “Arrested Development,” which will air in the spring of 2013. “And it feels really nice, because we worked so hard on the show then, and it used to bother us [that] we would win all these Emmys and no one f—–‘ knew about the show. It’s kind of a cool thing to come back.”
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Characters Play Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Sony vs. Nintendo
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you’ve seen media of Sony’s upcoming fighting game PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, then you know that it’s quite similar to Nintendo’s Smash. Bros. series. The biggest difference is most likely with their rosters, which are each filled with company exclusives. But a group of Wii modders managed to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Members of the Smash Bros. mod site Brawl Vault recreated the characters that will be available in Sony’s game so they can play with them on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Now they can have Nathan Drake, Sackboy and Sly Cooper go up against Mario, Link, Pikachu. But that’s not all. They also made characters that are not in the current revealed roster of Sony’s brawler, including Commander Shepard, Isaac Clarke and Tomba. Below is a gameplay video uploaded by YouTuber sulleh1:
Here’s the second part of the video:
Unfortunately I don’t know enough about Smash Bros. so I don’t know if these are just character skins or if they have unique moves as well. In any case, you can download these characters for free. You’ll have to mod an ISO of Super Smash Bros. Brawl to get these characters into the game though. I suggest you head to Brawl Vault not just for the character files but for instructions as well.
