Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 street date possibly broken in Europe?

As you guys know by now, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be released on the 13th of November, although word on the street is that the street date has already been broken thanks to one particular retailer in Slovakia, Bazo.sk (via CVG). The product listing has since been deleted but thanks to photos that have been grabbed before it was taken down, it certainly looks the case. As you can see in the image above, what we are looking at is the box art for the Hardened Edition of the game. However as the folks at VG247 have noted, since there are no photos of the actual disc, there is a chance that these boxes are merely promotional materials used to display on shelves for customers to look at,  rather than the actual game itself, although the deleting of the listing is rather suspicious. In any case at the very least we have a glimpse at how the Hardened Edition will look like. Either way we only have a couple of weeks to go before the official release, so stay tuned for more updates!

Wii U will launch with Hori fight stick accessory in Japan

Playing fighting styled games on a gaming controller is fine, although some gamers might prefer going old school and getting their hands on arcade stick controllers to emulate the good old days. Well the good news is that if you were planning on picking up the Nintendo Wii U, it looks like there is an arcade stick controller that will be released at the same time that will be compatible with the console. This is none other than the Hori fight stick with a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 decal on it and will connect with your Wii U just like the Classic Controller Pro. Unfortunately it seems that the Hori fight stick will only be available for the Wii U in Japan, but we expect that eventually it will make its way stateside and to other countries around the world. It will also be priced at roughly $100.

Next Guild Wars 2 major content update arriving 15th November

Now it seems that due to Hurricane Sandy, there are many gamers affected by it which at the same time has affected their ability to play Guild Wars 2, which means that they are missing out on the Halloween special. Unsurprisingly many of these gamers have reached out to ArenaNet, asking them if it was possible for them to extend their Shadow of the Mad King Halloween event to make up for “lost time”. Unfortunately for those players, it looks like ArenaNet will not be doing so, but at the same time it was revealed that this was because ArenaNet has a major content updated scheduled for the 15th of November. Dominion Virginia: Power Should Be Restored To Nearly All Customers By Thursday Night

All Dominion Virginia Power customers, “with very few exceptions,” should have their electricity turned back on by Thursday night, the Richmond-based utility said.

The company expected all of its out-of-service customers outside of Northern Virginia — the state’s hardest hit area — would have had their electric service turned on again by Tuesday night.

“Dominion employees, retirees, contractors and crews from other companies are fully engaged in this effort, and work will continue around the clock until power is restored to every customer affected by this storm,” Rodney Blevins, the company’s vice president of electric distribution operations, said in a statement.

Asus says Nexus 7 sales are close to 1 million per month

The Google Nexus 7 tablet is made by Asus, which is a Taiwanese company. According to an Asus exec, monthly sales of the Android-based tablet are closing in on 1 million units each month. The tablet has a seven-inch screen and a low starting price of $199.

You might think that Asus and Google would want to brag about their tablet and how many units are selling, but the duo has been vague on actual sales figures. Asus executives recently offered the clearest indication of sales volume yet during their Q3 earnings conference held yesterday. Asus CFO David Chang told the Wall Street Journal that in the beginning about 500,000 units were sold each month.

Chang then continued stating that the number increased to in the area of 600,000 to 700,000 units per month and last month sales figures were close to 1 million units. Previous sales estimates indicated Q3 sales in the area of 800,000 to 1,000,000 units based on an analysis of Google’s revenue figures. One reason Asus and Google aren’t bragging about the sales numbers for the Nexus 7 could be that compared to the iPad, sales are not that great.

Apple sold 14 million iPads in Q3 out of 25 million tablets sold globally. Google recently announced two more Nexus devices, including a Nexus 10 tablet and a Nexus 4 smartphone. The tablet will go for $399 with 16 gigabytes of storage, and the phone will sell for $299 without a contract.

The Coyote Case will protect you and your iPhone

When it comes to protecting ourselves on the streets, there are a variety of options available, such as whistles aimed to draw attention to ourselves, pepper spray, tasers and etc. However if you don’t want to carry an additional item with you while on the go, perhaps due to the lack of space in your pocket or handbag, then this Coyote case for your iPhone might be of interest to you, as not only will it protect your phone from drops and scratches, but it could also protect you by emitting a 100dB siren that will hopefully freak the other person out, and draw attention to you which could help scare away the attacker.

At the same time the case can be customized to send out a text message along with your location which we guess will come in handy in dire situations. Both the alarm and the text messages are activated by pressing buttons on the case, but this can be customized further as the case will allow the user to define whether pressing the button will emit the siren and/or send a text, or if it will require the pressing of both buttons which we’re guess will help to prevent accidental use. It is expected to be priced at $60 and it is currently an Indiegogo project, so if you’d like to help make the Coyote Case a reality, head on over to its Indiegogo page for the details.

The iRock rocking chair charges your iPad while you sit in it

We’ve seen some pretty interesting accessories for iOS devices before, although this rocking chair accessory is one of the more “out there” ones we’ve seen. Dubbed the iRock, this is a piece of furniture that not only docks your iPad, letting you read or watch videos while you rock away in the chair, but it will apparently help charge your tablet at the same time as well. Now before you think, “What kind of rocking chair plugs into the wall?” it seems that the iRock will charge your iPad through a generator built into one side of the chair.

According to its creator, the iRock is capable of recharging your iPad by 35% in an hour, although given the size of the iPad’s battery, we suspect that it might take longer so we wouldn’t place too much emphasis into the manufacturer’s claims. At the same time the iRock has a pair of speakers built into the headrest, so you can enjoy your music or videos while you sit in comfort. It will not come cheap as it has been priced at €1300 which is roughly $1,670 when converted, but if you’re interested in learning more, head on over to its website for the details.

Walmart to sell Boxee TV starting tomorrow

There are a number of set-top boxes on the market today that allow you to stream content from different services such as Netflix or YouTube. One of those devices is the Boxee TV. Boxee Inc has scored a major win with the announcement that Walmart will be selling its latest device, the Boxee TV, in its 3000 US locations starting tomorrow.

The Boxee TV will be in stores at a price of $98 just in time for the holiday shopping season. Walmart plans to put significant weight behind the product with marketing materials being sent out for the device, and displays set up in the stores. The Boxee TV is a black set-top box that comes with a remote control. The Boxee TV can access free HD broadcast channels as well as streaming Internet content.

The idea is to bring free over the air HD programming and basic cable programming that’s not protected to viewers as well as streaming content from Netflix and other sources. The Boxee TV has dual tuners and will allow you to record one program while watching another live. However, the set-top box has no internal storage device.

All programs that are recorded using the DVR feature are recorded to the cloud. Buyers of the device will get unlimited storage space on the cloud and will be able to watch the recordings on a laptop, tablet, or the TV. There is a $14.99 monthly charge for the cloud-based DVR service, which is only available in certain markets.

“It’s going to be a big launch for us,” Avner Ronen, Boxee’s chief executive officer, said in an interview. “There’s a big difference between having your product being carried by retailers, where it sits on the shelf, and getting real marketing behind it.”

Hurricane Sandy has knocked out 25 percent of all cell towers, cable services in 10 states

Julius Genachowski has revealed that Hurricane Sandy has knocked out a full quarter of cellphone towers and cable services in the 10 most affected states. The FCC chief believes that, as more towers expend their battery back-ups and the storm’s continued presence, the situation’s going to get worse before it gets better. He’s also reiterated that users should avoid making non-essential calls and use e-mail or social media to avoid overloading the straining networks. One point of interest in the call, was that land line phone outages were much less widespread — which might be something to remember if you’ve ever considered cutting the cord.

Kia and DC Entertainment unveil four new Justice League vehicles

I mentioned in the past that Kia and DC Entertainment were working together to create customized Kia vehicles to highlight the founding members of the DC Justice League. Previously, Kia unveiled a customized Batman Optima SX Limited. Three more superhero-inspired vehicles have been unveiled this week at SEMA.

One of the vehicles is a Flash-inspired Kia Forte Koupe. The car was built by West Coast Customs and has a red-orange-yellow airbrushed exterior that resembles The Flash’s costume. The vehicle has 20-inch Asanti color-matched wheels, uses Continental Extreme Contact tires, and rides on a custom suspension. The car is also customized inside with black leather with red suede and yellow stitching.

The green and gold car is an Aquaman-inspired Rio five-door. This car was chosen for Aquaman because it’s eco-friendly with 85% of its materials recyclable at the end of its life. The car features a special green-gold-orange exterior paint scheme and body kit. Inside the vehicle gets green leather with yellow gold accents and the green suede headliner with the Aquaman logo.

The Green Lantern vehicle is a Soul with a green and black exterior paint scheme and green mirror chrome tinted windows. The car has custom one-of-a-kind wheels and lots more superhero inspired touches. Cyborg gets a Forte 5-door running a custom suspension, custom wheels, and a number of exterior elements inspired by the superhero. The interior of the car is customized with red leather and red suede. All four of the new vehicles also have custom stereo systems and more.
