‘New Girl’: Nick’s Fear Of Halloween Leads Him To Punch Jess In The Face (VIDEO)

Halloween turned into a big night for the gang on “New Girl.” Nick faced his fears — though it seems unlikely the experience will do anything to help them conquer them. But as we’ve seen in the past, he’s willing to do a lot to try and protect Jess, though in this case things backfired pretty badly.

Jess had revealed to Nick that she’d developed real feelings for her regular fling Sam, only Sam later revealed that he’s keeping it casual with at least one other girl as well. So Nick braved his greatest fears to go tell Jess what he’d found out. Jess was working at the haunted house, and Nick going in there turned out to be a very bad idea. Terrified, he started lashing out at anything that accosted him, including Jess in her “Woody Allen” zombie costume.

So rather than give Jess a heads up, he punched her in the face. And then all of her monster friends came to her aid, surrounding and beating Nick bringing his “worst nightmare” to life. Jess, then, was left to feel the real emotions of heartache when she opened up to Sam and he shut her down. At least he was and had been honest from the beginning about what he wanted in their relationship.

HP ElitePad 900 travels to the FCC, brings pros closer to Windows 8 tablet utopia

HP ElitePad 900 travels to the FCC, brings the pros closer to Windows 8 tablets

HP couldn’t help but harsh the mellow of cutting-edge workers when it revealed the ElitePad 900 wouldn’t ship until January. Still, there’s less chance of any setbacks now that we know the FCC has rubber stamped the Windows 8 tablet. The version passing through the agency is a 3G model for mobile road warriors and touts the 850MHz, 1,700MHz and 1,900MHz bands we’d expect to for HSPA on AT&T, T-Mobile and Canadian networks. Few other surprises exist; we’re mostly happy to know that NFC exists alongside dual-band 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. No, the approval won’t be much consolation to the suits and ties wanting a tablet of their own as of yesterday, but it should be a relief to IT managers planning a much more creative use of the company budget in 2013.

NYU To Remain Closed Through Saturday Due To Hurricane Sandy

New York University announced Tuesday evening that classes will be canceled through Saturday and students at the school’s residence halls in lower Manhattan are being evacuated.

Many of NYU’s buildings are without power after Hurricane Sandy ravaged New York City during Monday’s overnight hours. NYU Langone Medical Center was forced to evacuate the hospital late Monday night, and the storm damage there could put years of research in jeopardy.

NYU president John Sexton cited power outages around NYU buildings and residence halls as reasons to close down academics for the week.

‘Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23’: James Van Der Beek Fears Halloween, Bans Scary Costumes (VIDEO)

It was time for James Van Der Beek’s annual Halloween costume party on “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” but it wasn’t what June expected. It turns out that James is absolutely terrified of Halloween, so he instead throws a “positivity party” and bans all scary costumes. Fans of “Dawson’s Creek” got an extra giggle at the joke, considering his character on that show absolutely loved the holiday.

June and Chloe both loved Halloween, but they found themselves sucked into a twisted romantic comedy. It was a revenge ploy by one of James’ friends after seeing Chloe’s Halloween tradition. She spots one person each year and decides to ruin their lives by the next Halloween. She chose James’ friend as her next target, but he turned the tables on her.

Poor June’s natural sappy instinct to try and find the good in Chloe pulled her in as the heroine’s unlucky-in-love best friend who put her own happiness on a back burner to focus her attention on trying to help Chloe find love. That, unfortunately, left her with the leading man’s slovenly best friend as her solace.

Twenty Two Percent Of Protestant Pastors Undecided Voters According To LifeWay Survey

(RNS) Pollsters and politicians hunting for the rare and elusive undecided voter might want to train their sights on the pulpit.

A whopping 22 percent of Protestant pastors haven’t settled on a presidential candidate, according to a survey released earlier this month by LifeWay Research. By comparison, just 4 percent of all likely voters remain undecided, according to Gallup.

The undecided pastor trend doesn’t appear to be a one-time fluke. A similar survey conducted in October 2008 also found that 22 percent of pastors hadn’t chosen between Obama and then-GOP nominee Sen. John McCain.

ARM announces energy-efficient 64-bit Cortex-A50 processors

ARM has announced its new Cortex A-50 Series, a line of energy-efficient 64-bit processors. According to the press release, the Cortex A-50 Series is the world’s most energy efficient 64-bit processors “set to drive the next era in mobile and enterprise.” The series is comprised of two processors: the A57 and the A53.

First up is the Cortex-A53 processor, which is “the most efficient ARM application processor ever.” Says the press release, the A53 can run a high-end smartphone using only a quarter of what is used by current offerings. The processor is optimized for throughput processing, and is only 25% the size of “mainstream superphone CPUs,” making it positively tiny.

The Cortex-A57 processor is “optimized for high performance,” offering three times the performance of current offerings. This CPU is ARM’s most advanced and highest single-thread performance processor. According to the press release, the A57 offers “performance comparable to a legacy PC” whilst only sipping power, providing a combination of energy-efficiency and cost effectiveness to meet the needs of both consumer and enterprise users.

According to ARM, this series will provide the market with a means to push the base level of power for mobile devices upwards, with today’s high-end smartphones becoming tomorrow’s entry-level devices. Currently, we can expect to see the Cortex-A50 Series pop up in 2014. Check out the video above for more info.
