Microsoft launches Windows Phone 8 companion app for Windows 8 and Windows RT

It was already rumored last month that Microsoft is working on a Windows Phone 8 companion app for its latest operating system. And with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 event just around the corner, the Redmond-based technology giant has just released the said companion app for Windows 8 and Windows RT. Essentially, the new app will allow Windows Phone 8 devices and computers running Windows 8 to work together seamlessly “so you always have your photos, videos, and music, and more where you want them.”

However, the app isn’t just about syncing music, photos, and videos. It also lets you share cool and interesting stuff from your phone, automatically save photos and videos from your phone to your PC, and check how much space you are using for each type of content – all without having to open the app itself. Do take note that the app only works with Windows Phone 8 devices. You can check out the app via the Windows Store.

Verizon officially announces Nokia Lumia 822, coming this Fall

Ahead of the big Windows Phone soiree later today, Nokia has now confirmed that Verizon will be getting the Lumia 822, which will its 4G portfolio in the coming months. While the fact that a Big Red version of Nokia’s second Windows Phone 8 device wasn’t the best-kept secret, Nokia’s proud press release (after the break) finally confirms it — although it neglects to mention any prices or dates. The phone will arrive in black, white and grey options — all LTE-ready, with those interchangeable covers also incoming. That slightly modest 4.3-inch screen WVGA screen will also try to make the most of those colorful tiles — and we’ll likely get play with one very soon.

Update: Nokia USA’s just updated its site, stating that the Windows Phone will arrive on two-year contracts priced at $100.

Huawei Honor 2 unveiled: 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 4.5-inch 326 PPI display

Huawei Honor 2 unveiled Quadcore 14GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 45inch 326 PPI display

Never one to stop unfurling new smartphones, Huawei’s just detailed yet another high-end Android handset. The Honor 2 packs the company’s in-house K3V2 1.4GHz quad-core chip, up from the single-core found in the original, alongside 2GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage. Around the back, there’s the BSI 8-megapixel camera sensor, capable of burst shots and full 1080p video capture, while Huawei has also included a microSD slot for storage expansion. With a 4.5-inch 1,280 x 720 display, there’s hefty pixel bump up from the 245 pixels per inch found on the first Honor — in fact we have a Retina display-matching 326ppi. The Chinese phone maker is also talking up its claims of 72 hours of standby time, which is something we’d certainly like to try out when review samples eventually appear. Pre-orders will start in China later this week, with the Honor 2 priced up at 1,888 yuan — just over $300.

Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet

What happens when your little one pesters you for a pet? You know the long and winding road that you and the missus are about to head down. For starters, the puppy or kitten will be given all sorts of love at the beginning, but after a while, your kid will begin to pay more attention to the Nintendo Wii U or Xbox 360, neglecting to feed that now grown up dog or cat, in addition to taking it out for walks or bathing it. How about teaching responsibility on the digital front with the $29.99 Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet instead?

The Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet might bring back memories of Tamagotchies for some, except that these are far more intelligent and interactive. After all, they are able to relate stories to you, and even share some jokes around. Heck, if your kid is bored, the Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet will also be able to play games. The thing is, if you happen to “loan” your handset to your kid for them to spend time with the Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet, you might not get your phone back, ever, due to the advertised addictive nature of it. Each purchase of the Ubooly iPhone/iPod Interactive Pet comes with free monthly updates that are delivered automatically via Wi-Fi, where it will play nice with the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4s, 5, iPod touch 4G and iPod touch 5 devices.

Microsoft Surface RT Review

Microsoft Surface RT ReviewWith the Surface for Windows 8 RT tablet, Microsoft introduces a Windows computer that runs with the same chip which powers Android competitors. To consumers, it means that they can now have a Windows computer that looks like a tablet, weighs like tablet, behaves like a tablet, while being able to run a “real” version of Microsoft Office, along with a Windows desktop environment for file management and settings. The “PC” feel also includes a full-size USB port and Microsoft has managed to do that with a design as thick as the iPad 3 – this is a feat of industrial design.

In this review, we will tell you what the Microsoft Surface is made of, but more importantly, this complete review will cover what you can (and cannot) do with it, and we will provide some concrete examples that show what you can expect from the Surface RT in the real world. Let’s dive…

Samsung Galaxy S4 rumored to use Exynos 5450 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz

It might be a little early to start the Samsung Galaxy S4 rumors, but given the popularity of the Galaxy S3 and the powerful specs that it has packed under its hood, we guess there are many out there who are eager to see just how the Galaxy S4 will be able to top it. Well according to reports (via DDaily.kr), it has been suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be packing an Exynos 5450 processor under its hood. It has been suggested that the Exynos 5450 processor will be based on the Cortex A15 architecture and will be clocked at a whopping 2.0GHz.

For those unfamiliar, the Galaxy S3 features Samsung’s Exynos 4412 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. While this is pretty fast in its own right, it is however based on the Cortex A9 architecture, which means on paper we can expect the A15 to be a much better option. Of course this is merely a rumor for now and should be taken with a grain of salt, but at the same time given the speed at which our smartphones and tablets are improving, we wouldn’t be surprised if this rumor pans out. We’ll keep our eyes peeled anyway but in the meantime, what do you guys make of this?

Square Enix could be reducing the price of its mobile games in the future

Chrono Trigger for Android was released not too long ago, although its asking price of $9.99 might put some gamers off. As we had said earlier, Square Enix has been known for pricing their games much higher compared to everyone else who sells games for a few dollars or even at the $0.99 range. That being said, Square Enix has defended their prices in the past, claiming that the quality of their games justifies its asking price, and while that might hold true, in an environment where apps (both games and non-games) sell for a dollar or less, wouldn’t Square Enix be better off being a bit more competitive? New Hitman: Absolution trailer released, calls your ethics into question

Hitman: Absolution will be released come 20th November for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 console along with the PC, but until then it looks like a new trailer for the game has been released which was shown off at the Golden Joystick awards. As the trailer suggests, it will be calling into question your ethics, namely as to how many lives are you willing to take in order to save one. In any case you get a few snippets of gameplay footage in this latest trailer and if you weren’t excited before, perhaps this might get you psyched for the upcoming release. Until the game’s release on the 20th of November, we guess this trailer will have to do for now.

Psy’s Gangnam Style dance will be headed onto Dance Central 3 as well

If you thought that dancing to Psy’s Gangnam Style in real life wasn’t enough and you’d like to score some points for it, you might be interested to learn that Gangnam Style will be headed onto Dance Central 3. This is probably good news for Dance Central 3 gamers who might have been feeling slightly left out when Gangnam Style was announced as a DLC for Ubisoft’s Just Dance 4. No word on when exactly Dance Central 3 gamers will be able to get their hands on the dance and song, but a rough time frame of “sometime this year” has been given. Considering that we’re almost in November, we guess gamers/dancers won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the dance. In the meantime you can always practice the dance move in real life and get ready to score some major points once it has been released for the game. Harmonix has also announced that Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” will be another dance song that will be added to the game, although how one dances to that remains to be seen.
