As Hurricane Sandy moves north through the Atlantic, cities in the U.S. Northeast are bracing for “a potential 1 in 100 year storm.” Government forecasters are predicting a “worst case scenario” storm surge for the New York City metro area.
East Coast utility companies are also prepping for a storm that could leave millions without power. A computer model — which uses wind and population data along with information from previous hurricanes — developed by a professor at Johns Hopkins University, predicts that eight to 10 million customers will lose power in the coming week.
For those living in coastal areas near where Sandy is expected to make landfall on Monday, find these FEMA tips for hurricane safety and emergency planning tips for pet owners. Check out the infographic below of Hurricane Sandy’s projected path, as of 4:00PM EST Sunday, through the week.

Most of us have a drawer, box or other spot where we throw slightly damaged, or even perfectly good, bits and bobs that we’re not quite sure what to do with. An old brooch that has lost its pin, an extra draw pull or door knob, a fabulous earring whose mate has gone missing. Perhaps we “inherited” such a box from an elderly relative or friend. These little items are certainly hard to part with and while none may have much monetary worth, it doesn’t mean that they have no value. Here are some great re-uses for these items.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Lawrence Tynes kicked two of his five field goals in the fourth quarter as Eli Manning and the New York Giants remained undefeated at Cowboys Stadium with a 29-24 win Sunday after blowing a 23-point lead.
The Giants overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to win for the 20th time in Manning’s career. None were quite like this one.
New York (6-2) led 23-0 just 2 minutes into the second quarter when defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown. That was the third interception thrown by Tony Romo, among six turnovers by Dallas (3-4).

Tea Party Polls: Allen West, Joe Walsh Among Incumbents In Trouble, PPP Data Finds
Posted in: Today's ChiliAs the 2012 election calendar rolls toward its final week of campaigning, several Tea Party favorites find themselves in races that are too close for comfort.
A series of Public Policy Polling (PPP) surveys conducted from Oct. 25-26 and released on Sunday show four GOP freshmen — Reps. Allen West (R-Fla.), Joe Walsh (R-Ill.), Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) and Frank Guinta (R-N.H.) — facing trouble in the polls. Veteran Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.) is also in a battle for his electoral life.
PPP’s survey of 631 likely voters in Florida’s 18th congressional district shows West trailing Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, 48 to 47 percent, with a 3.9 percent margin of error. The pair has engaged in a heated campaign, capped by a series of nasty ads attacking histories ranging from West’s military record to Murphy’s college arrest.

Raiders Beat Chiefs 26-16: Carson Palmer Leads Oakland To 6th Straight Win At Arrowhead
Posted in: Today's ChiliKANSAS CITY, Mo. — Carson Palmer threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and the Oakland Raiders stuffed the struggling Kansas City Chiefs 26-16 on Sunday for their sixth straight win at Arrowhead Stadium.
Sebastian Janikowski was perfect on four field-goal attempts, and the Raiders (3-4) nearly became the third straight team to keep the Kansas City offense out of the end zone.
TRIPOLI, Libya — The protesters converged on the conference center housing Libya’s newly elected congress, trying to force their way in past startled guards. Mostly young and half of them women in headscarves, they demanded an end to the siege of the town of Bani Walid, where the government was in the midst of an attack to uproot holdouts from Moammar Gadhafi’s former regime.
Police rushed to the scene. But in Libya, the police are actually militias, in this case from the Tripoli neighborhood of Souq al-Jumaa that last year lost several men in a battle with Bani Walid residents. Instead trying to control the crowd, the “police” dressed in t-shirts and pants of a military uniform exchanged threats with protesters and then mounted a rival demonstration of their own. Soon they were firing their assault rifles in the air to intimidate the protesters.
