Google Nexus 10 appears in painfully short video

At this point, we’re pretty sure that the LG Nexus 4, the Samsung Nexus 10, and the Nexus 7 32GB all exist. We were supposed to find out if our suspicious are correct on Monday, but thanks to the threat of Hurricane Sandy, Google has been forced to postpone its Android event that was originally scheduled for October 29. Thankfully, the folks at BriefMobile are here with a new video to whet our appetite for some Nexus 10 action, giving us a brief glimpse at the much-rumored tablet.

When we say “brief,” we mean it too – the video is a mere 5 seconds long. It would appear that the person who leaked the video to BriefMobile is a master at the art of trolling, as five seconds isn’t enough time to do much of anything. Indeed, we only see a split-second shot of the lock screen in the video, followed by the user booting Chrome. Other than that, there’s nothing, so here’s hoping that you weren’t holding out for anything big.

Still, with this video we get some solid evidence of the Nexus 10′s existence, along with a glimpse at that snazzy 2560 x 1600 display. From a display standpoint, the Nexus 10 certainly looks like an excellent tablet, and rumors have been suggesting that it has some solid innards to go along with that beautiful screen. We’ve been hearing that the Nexus 10 will be sporting a dual-core Samsung Exynos 5250 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, a five-megapixel rear camera, and 16GB of internal storage. The source of this leak also confirmed that the Nexus 10 will have GPS, so we’ve got that to look forward to as well.

BriefMobile’s leakster also said that the back of the Nexus 10 is made of polycarbonate material, and that the whole device is very slim and lightweight. It sounds like Google could have a hit on its hands with the Nexus 10, so now all we need is a reveal and we’ll be set. Even though that reveal won’t be coming on Monday as originally planned, you can bet that Google will want to host its event as soon as possible once Hurricane Sandy subsides. Keep it tuned here to SlashGear for more information!

James Harden Traded: Thunder Send Star to Rockets For Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb, Draft Picks

Unable to work out an extension with James Harden, the Oklahoma City Thunder traded the Sixth Man of the Year to the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, breaking up the young core of the Western Conference champions.

The Thunder acquired guards Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb, two first-round picks and a second-round pick in the surprising deal. Oklahoma City also sent center Cole Aldrich and forwards Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward to Houston.

The Oct. 31 deadline to extend Harden or allow him to become a restricted free agent next July had been hanging over the Thunder from the moment they reported to training camp.

Obama Cancels Campaign Events As Hurricane Sandy Looms

As Hurricane Sandy approaches the East Coast, President Obama is shuffling his schedule as he attempts to simultaneously manage the storm’s impact and campaign for a second term. The White House put out the following statement to reporters on Saturday night:

On Monday, following the event in Youngstown, OH, the President will return to the White House to continue to monitor Hurricane Sandy, which is currently forecasted to make landfall along the Eastern seaboard late that day. As a result, the events in Northern Virginia on Monday and in Colorado Springs on Tuesday have been cancelled. Additional changes to Tuesday’s schedule will be announced as warranted.

The President is being regularly updated on the storm and ongoing preparations, and he has directed his team to continue to bring all available resources to bear as state and local partners continue to prepare for the storm. FEMA has already deployed teams and has pre-staged resources to potentially affected states and areas ahead of the storm, and FEMA remains in close contact with emergency responders in states up and down the East coast to ensure there are no unmet needs. The President will continue to receive regular briefings on these efforts, and has made clear that he expects his team to continue to lean forward as Hurricane Sandy approaches.

Ask Engadget: best Skitch replacement?

Ask Engadget best Skitch replacement

We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, then here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget inquiry is from Benjamin, who feels a little let down by the most recent changes to Evernote’s image-sharing software. If you’re looking to ask one of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.

“Hi guys. I’m a graphic designer who, until recently, used a desktop app called Skitch to quickly share images with clients. I loved being able to just click and drag a portion of my desktop, click “share” and have it uploaded in a seconds. Of course, Evernote has screwed with it, so now it won’t default to keeping my pictures private (not so good for the clients, or my reputation) and the new layout hides the sharing feature in a stupid drop-down menu. Frankly, a really useful piece of software has been ruined, so can you suggest a replacement?”

We feel your pain Benjamin, even if we did have to slice out your more colorful descriptions of Evernote from your e-mail. A site favorite has been ruined by the changes, and as such we’re on the hunt for an alternative.

  • Jing, from TechSmith lets you share screenshots and even record video on your desktop.
  • Slingshot is a Mac exclusive that’ll set you back $3, but uses the cloud service of your choice (Dropbox, Imgur etc)

Of course, this is the moment where we turn it over to our amazing commenters, who we hope will share the skinny. You never know, maybe some enterprising indie dev has already created the program to replace that hole in our lives — friends, head down below, grab the candle and bang on.

Nexus 4 priced at £390 by purported Carphone Warehouse in-store display placard

Purported Nexus 4 instore display placards list price at 390 euros Carphone Warephone leak, l

Oh, Carphone Warehouse — it just can’t seem to keep what it knows about the LG / Google Nexus 4 under lock and key. Just days after briefly listing the phone on its website, purported in-store displays for the yet unannounced device have leaked out to Android Authority. While essentially of the details are the same as what we saw last (1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 SoC, 8MP cam, 12-hour talk time rating, etc.), the listing reveals that the “sim-free” phone itself will sell for £390 (about $504) — previously we’d only seen the per-month pricing at £31, which is also found here. There’s no mention of that October 30th sale date this time, and it would seem unlikely now given that Google’s had to indefinitely postpone its NYC-based Android event for the 29th due to hurricane Sandy. For now, you can get more details from the source link below.

Tiger Woods LIVE: Follow Round 4 At CIMB Classic

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Tiger Woods seemingly had the CIMB Classic in the palm of his hands about two hours into his third round.

But it was what happened over the next 120 minutes that ripped it away from him.

Woods had three bogeys and a double-bogey over his final nine holes to drop from the lead to a share of 10th place, five strokes behind Robert Garrigus and Bo Van Pelt heading into Sunday’s final round.
