Mercedes-Benz Ener-G Force Concept Car

The three pointed star is one of the emblems of success, telling the rest of the world that you have arrived, and high society beckons you. After all, Mercedes-Benz has been churning out vehicles of luxury for many years now, and the prestige that comes with the badge continues to remain elusive to many. Well, no company is able to last this long without being creative and innovative in their thinking, which is why the futuristic tank-like car known as the Mercedes-Benz Ener-G Force Concept Car is certain to capture anyone’s attention.

At first glance, it reminds me of the M Class of four wheel drives, but the Mercedes-Benz Ener-G Force Concept Car is far more than just that, sporting its fair share of high-tech features along the way. For starters, it will have rooftop-integrated emergency lights, 20-inch wheels, and LED headlamps which make up the letter ‘G’. Apart from that, you will also find a pull-out toolbox and a topography scanner on the roof so that you are able to adjust the vehicle’s suspension as and when necessary. According to KickingTires, the Ener-G Force will rely on a hydro-tech converter to transform water stored in tanks on car’s roof into hydrogen so that it can power the fuel cells within.

Air Umbrella Concept Is Unique

Designers Je Sung Park and Woo Jung Kwon must have gotten sick and tired of using an umbrella that gets blown apart in extremely strong winds, and are unable to make you look cool. After all, umbrella designs have remained largely unchanged over the years, but perhaps there is a reason to that – you simply do not fix what is not broken. Well, the two enterprising designers from South Korea have come up with a rather unique idea for a modern day umbrella that features nothing but a handle. Calling it the Air Umbrella, this is but a simple electronic device which will take in air from the bottom of the controller, sending jets of air out at the top in order to create an air curtain which repels raindrops.

It does sound like a, er, sound idea, and you can even manually adjust the power of the air which is pushed through the holes depending on the rain you’re getting, but won’t such a device require a tremendous amount of power to get going, and will the engine that creates this air motion be extremely loud and noisy?

HP Envy H8 Branding Criticized by Envy Brand Creator

HP has released the HP Envy H8 desktop machine recently. It is a sub-$700 computer that is effectively  mid-range desktop computer that offers decent performance for the price. However, the computer’s naming is not only far from the original “Envy” branding which was used for ultra-high end computers, but it can also be read as Envy “hate” (just like Facebook’s conference F8 is called “fate”).

The Envy brand originally came from VoodooPC, which was acquired by HP in 2006. In a recent tweet, Raul Sood, VoodooPC’s founder, now working at Microsoft, says: ” “Thought I’d seen everything…then I saw the ‘HP ENVY H8′ desktop… what the heck guys? Is this code for I give up?” (more…)

Battlefield 3 Aftermath Expansion PC Footage

Thanks to the wonders of the Internet and video sharing websites like YouTube as well as a plethora of other factors (fast Internet connection, video conversion tools, video formats, the works), it is a snap to send word around of upcoming details on a movie, song, or even video game. Take for instance this new video from popular YouTube montage maker “L0ckl34r”, where he has delivered what is deemed by many to be the first PC footage of the Battlefield 3 expansion known as Aftermath. Sporting three minutes of gameplay that was captured at EA France’s headquarters, you get to have a glimpse into what is to come.

Unfortunately, it must be said that footage from the Scavenger mode is now exactly as sprawling as you would have liked it to be, so very little is different from the console footage that has been released to date. Still, having slightly improved graphics is better than none, as one is restricted to 720p resolution. After all, something is better than nothing, and the video shows off what one is capable of achieving with a keyboard and mouse wielded in a skillful manner.

Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack Trailer

It seems that the latest Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack trailer has just been released, where the video of the trailer above will show a really quick glimpse of what the game offers in all three maps, and developer 343 do seem to have done a good job in making sure no one is left out with this latest winter DLC. The three new maps in question are Harvest, Shatter, and Wreckage, where each one of them varies in size and other design elements, which makes them suited to different kinds of player warfare.

For example, if you like the canon concept, then Harvest would be right up your alley, where this doomed agricultural planet is perfect for Capture the Flag scenarios, and you will need to use your creativity in order to harness light vehicles and make your way near the bases. Folks who love infantry firefights and face-to-face skirmishes will definitely love Harvest, while snipers won’t lose out on the action as well thanks to long sightlines which are broken up by great cover and hiding spots.

The Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack will cost 800 Microsoft Points, and it is ready to roll out this coming December 10th to keep you occupied throughout Christmas.

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition To Arrive In 2014?

Hmmm, it seems that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, long hailed to be a next-gen console title, will be hitting the market sometime in 2014 instead of 2013 as originally envisioned. Just how did this juicy rumor get out of the gates? Well, an Electronic Arts Shanghai level designer’s resume appeared on LinkedIn recently (which has since been deleted, naturally) which claimed that the game’s scope has already changed, and it is being planned to be a next generation title. It does make some sense when you sit down and think about it considering how next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony, if any, have yet to be announced officially, and certainly the recently released Nintendo Wii U is not going to be able to have the necessary processing firepower to handle a game like this, right?

Well, in the first place, EA and BioWare announced Dragon Age 3 without revealing just which platforms that the game will make its appearance on, so it has every right to be a next generation title. If you are a gamer, would you prefer Dragon Age 4 to be a next generation console game and get your kicks from Dragon Age 3: Inquisition on the PS3 and/or Xbox 360 instead?

Nokia seeks Linux engineer, Android crowd goes wild

A Nokia job listing [since taken down] has been discovered seeking a Senior Engineer with Linux expertise, rather than Windows Phone experience, this leading the Android masses to have a freak-out-festival about the possibilities of a Google OS Nokia device. At the moment it’s a nearly all-Microsoft party at Nokia with the latter shaking hands heavily with the former for the launch of Windows Phone 8 with devices like the Nokia Lumia 920, a hero for the operating system. With a Linux expert on their team, (not that Nokia doesn’t already have engineers with such expertise), it would appear that Nokia is attempting to keep their ties with Android at least a possible future plan – but clues are dubious at best.

It’s not that we don’t think Nokia would ever make an attempt and creating an Android phone, it’s just that one single job posting does not a Nexus make. Back in May of 2011 there was a single prediction from super stealth inside Eldar Murtazin which said that if Microsoft didn’t outright purchase Nokia inside 2012, they’d toss out ex-Microsoft executive Stephen Elop from the CEO spot and place former Nokia smartphone chief Anssi Vanjoki back on top.

The prediction also supported ideas like a Nokia tablet and a collection of MeeGo devices throughout the months of 2012 as well, so it’s not as if this pack of information fell entirely correctly. Meanwhile the job listing appearing this week seeks an employee wanting to work in a “start-up environment” with “exciting new products” and future mobile phone technology. That could mean absolutely anything from an Android application to a new implementation of an upcoming technology standard on Lumia smartphones – maybe even more NFC action for apps.

Have a peek down our Linux tag portal to see what you can see – you’ll find that outside of Android, there’s not a whole lot that makes sense here for Nokia to want to hire a Linux expert unless they simply want to keep up-to-date on the most widely-used mobile operating system on the planet. Is that such a strange possibility?

New 215inch iMac gets an early teardown in Japan

We’re currently putting Apple’s latest “skinny” iMac through its paces here in New York, but an eager Japanese customer has already popped open the 21.5-inch desktop’s case, revealing a serviceable hard drive, removable logic board and even a bit of room to spare in the tapered silver housing. There’s not much in the way of details over at Kodawarisan, a scant Japanese-language site, but there are plenty of interior pics to gawk at, tiding us over until the experts at iFixit manage to dissect an iMac of their own. Head on over to the source link below for a dozen or so undressed snaps of Cupertino’s latest creation.
