Sexual Cannibalism In Animals Explained By Dr. Carin Bondar In New ‘Wild Sex’ Series (VIDEO)

If you thought the sex scenes in the popular erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” were wild, you should have a look at praying mantises going at it. Sex for these little creatures is not only kinky, but also gruesome.

Believe it or not, sexual cannibalism (when one partner kills and eats the other during copulation) is common among spiders as well as mantises. Need to see it to believe it? Just check out the first episode of biologist Dr. Carin Bondar‘s new web series titled “Wild Sex.”

“We hit topics hard, and not just for the quirk factor, but because there is a lot of cool science behind so many strange mating rituals,” Bondar told Scientific American about the new show.

Why Do We Eat Too Much On Thanksgiving And Always Have Room For Pie? (VIDEO)

Thanksgiving is a holiday centered around family, friends and of course, lots and lots of high-calorie food. And as the anecdote goes, no matter how much food is indulged, there’s always room for pie.

The average stomach capacity is about 8 cups, according to The New York Times, but it can range from 4 to 12 cups.

A stretched stomach prompts the release of chemicals that tell the brain it’s full. But some holiday diners, faced with a sumptuous buffet of mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie, keep eating.

Sex During The Ninth Month Of Pregnancy Won’t Actually Start Labor [STUDY]

NEW YORK, Kerry Grens (Reuters Health) – Despite a widespread belief that sex during the later stages of pregnancy can jumpstart labor, a new study from Malaysia found no differences in the timing of delivery between women who had sex near term and those who abstained.

“We are a little disappointed that we did not find an association,” said Dr. Tan Peng Chiong, an obstetrics and gynecology professor at the University of Malaya, and one of the authors of the study. “It would have been nice for couples to have something safe, effective and perhaps even fun that they could use themselves to help go into labor a little earlier if (they) wanted.”

Tan said that many women believe intercourse can induce labor, and scientists have proposed plausible biological explanations for why it might help.

Rovio’s Angry Birds soda drink outsells Coke and Pepsi in Finland

You know you have it made when your company not only creates one of the most popular smartphone games of all time, but when you also beat out both Coke and Pepsi as one of the bestselling drinks. Ok we’re pretty sure it doesn’t go like that but the folks at Rovio have done just that. The Finnish company’s own brand of Angry Birds soft drinks has, and according to reports, managed to beat out both Coke and Pepsi as the most popular drink as far as the Finnish market is concerned. Of course this surge in popularity might simply have something to do with the novelty of it, rather than the taste itself, but since we have yet to try it we’re only speculating here.

So how does it taste like then? According to The Next Web’s Jamillah Knowles, the Angry Birds soda “tastes a bit like Lilt but less sugary and maybe a bit more like apples.” It doesn’t sound too bad, right? Many companies have dabbled in their own brand of soda in the past, such as Virgin if anyone can remember, although personally the taste of the drink left much to be desired. Will Rovio’s soda spin-off be as successful as the game itself? Only time will tell. For those who are looking forward to trying for themselves, it is expected to be made available in both New Zealand and Australia soon.

Egypt Leader And Obama Forge Link In Gaza Deal

WASHINGTON — President Obama skipped dessert at a long summit meeting dinner in Cambodia on Monday to rush back to his hotel suite. It was after 11:30 p.m. and his mind was on rockets in Gaza rather than Asian diplomacy.
