Disney’s Animatronics Now Play Catch Like the Android Dad You Always Wanted

If you thought Disneyland’s Hall of Presidents was awesome before, imagine how great it would be if you could play catch with Abraham Lincoln or Richard Nixon? Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 lands at Verizon Wireless

On the lookout for a new Android tablet to add to your collection? If you are, you might be pleased to know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 launched at Verizon today, complete with 4G LTE capabilities. 4G LTE is going to be the major selling point of the Verizon Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, since everything else about the slate will be mostly the same.

Of course, it will also come with a few Verizon apps pre-installed, but other than those and 4G LTE capabilities, you’re getting the same tablet we reviewed earlier this year. That means you get a 1280×800 10.1-inch screen, a dual-core TI OMAP 4 processor clocked at 1.0GHz, 1GB of RAM, and Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. You’ve also got 16GB of internal storage at your disposal, but that can be expanded through the use of the microSD slot the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes equipped with.

So no, you’re not getting the most powerful tablet in the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but it should still be able to get the job done. That being said, don’t expect it to be all that cheap – Verizon is offering it at $499. That price, when coupled with the less-than-stellar hardware, might prove to be a deterrent for some folks, but we have a feeling that there are some out there who have had their eye on a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 nonetheless.

You can also opt to sign up for Verizon’s Share Everything plan when you buy a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and you’ll need to sign up for some kind of data plan if you want to take advantage of that 4G LTE functionality. Verizon opened up pre-orders for the device today, and said that it will begin shipping the devices on November 26 (next Monday). Are you planning to pick up a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 from Verizon?

Mortgage Fraud Lawsuits Fail To Deter Bank Cheating, Experts Say

Even in the movie version of the financial crisis, the giant mortgage company accused by the U.S. government of rampant fraud and abuse wouldn’t be so obvious as to nickname its mortgage lending program “the Hustle.”

The real-life Countrywide Financial, however, was not known for its subtlety. In 2007, as the mortgage market was collapsing, Countrywide, now part of Bank of America, used the hustle — officially, a program it called the “High Speed Swim Lane” — to eviscerate lending standards in order to keep pumping out home loans, even though many were fraudulent, according to a lawsuit filed by the U.S. government last month.

Despite the abuses alleged in this lawsuit, described as “spectacularly brazen in scope” by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, the federal government accused no individual bank executives with wrongdoing in the case. Nor have authorities singled out individuals in recent civil lawsuits against Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase or Credit Suisse, the three other banks sued in the last two months by members of a high-profile task force created by President Barack Obama this year to investigate mortgage fraud.

YouTube’s biggest sports deal so far will bring live NBA D-League games starting Friday

YouTube's biggest sports deal so far will bring live NBA DLeague games Friday

This summer YouTube made its biggest advance into sports by picking up rights to live stream the Olympics in various countries, but now it has gained a domestic foothold by partnering with the NBA to air D-League games. While the world isn’t exactly beating down the doors to watch minor league basketball, this is YouTube’s biggest pro sports deal so far. Neither the NBA nor Google will say how much the rights cost for it to air 350 or so of the league’s 400 games, but we wouldn’t expect to see YouTube bids for Monday Night Football. The NBA has long been a YouTube partner in other deals, and there were rumors last year that they were considering a deal for games, although right now Google seems to have its eye on ESPN3 instead of ESPN and will focus on niche sports and complementary programming. If you’re a fan of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants or just trying to catch a peek at the next Jeremy Lin before everyone else, the broadcasts start Friday night (in HD) with four games. They’re also accessible via team and league websites, as archived VOD on YouTube, through mobile apps for iOS and Android or, of course, on TV when they air on NBA TV and CBS Sports Network.
