BioWare announces Mass Effect 3 Special Edition for Wii U

If you bought the Nintendo Wii U game console when it launched earlier this month or if Santa will be bringing you one for Christmas, you will be glad to hear that EA and BioWare have announced they will be bringing one of the best games of the year to the new Nintendo game console. The game is Mass Effect 3 Special Edition. The Special Edition of the game has been enhanced specifically for the Nintendo Wii U console.

The enhancements allow players to have more tactile control over combat using the Nintendo Wii U GamePad. The Special Edition of the game also has bonus content including an interactive content to get players the back story of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. The game will utilize the cool touchscreen GamePad by allowing users to use the touchpad to activate and customize abilities for the team, view enemies on the tactical mini map, and command squad members to move.

The movement commands are accomplished by pointing and dragging to a new location on the GamePad. Players will also be able to switch the game view from the TV to the GamePad allowing them to continue playing on the controller. The game also has some other interesting bonus content including an interactive motion comic created by Dark Horse Comics called Genesis II.

The Special Edition for the Nintendo Wii U also includes Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut and Mass Effect 3: From Ashes single player DLC content packs. The game also includes three post-release content packs for the game multiple player mode including Resurgence, Rebellion, and Earth. The game is available now for $59.99 in the US and will be available when the console launches in Europe and Japan.

Nintendo and Rockstar remain open to the idea of Grand Theft Auto making its way onto the Wii U

We know that Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, but what about Nintendo’s recently launched Wii U? Will they be getting any GTA love in the future? While that remains to be seen, it is good to know that both Rockstar and Nintendo are open to the idea at the very least. In a recent interview with MTV Multiplayer, Nintendo USA’s Reggie Fils-Aime was quoted as saying that Rockstar has made some nice public comments about their console, and that Nintendo’s goal is to provide developers with the help they need in order to bring their “best content” onto their platform.

On Rockstar’s end, head writer Dan Houser was quoted in an interview with IGN as saying that the Wii U was not barred from consideration, and that Rockstar will be following good business opportunities when they present themselves. Of course neither of these comments confirms that GTA 5 will be available for the Wii U, but it’s good to know that they haven’t closed any doors.

Hitman: Absolution Deus Ex Human Revolution DLC gets detailed

The Hitman franchise has more or less been set in the present albeit in a fictional world, but have you ever wondered what the Agent 47 could look like in futuristic garb? Apparently that’s what gamers will be able to dress Agent 47 up as in the upcoming Hitman: Absolution Deux Ex Human Revolution DLC. Some of the DLC’s features have already been offered as pre-order bonuses for some gamers in the states, but we guess once the DLC has been released, these bonuses will be accessed by all. Players will be able to dress Agent 47 in Adam Jensen’s outfit and will able to tote a futuristic gun, or dress him in a “High Roller” suit with a Krugermeier 2-2 Pistol, or a “Public Enemy” suit with a Bronson M1928 SMG in tow.

Human Rights Watch hopes to ban the creation of autonomous weapons

Thanks to the use of drones, there is a reduced need for sending human beings into the field of battle which in turn could cut down on the amount of lives lost (at least for one side), but given what we’ve seen in movies like Terminator, it could be possible that one day in the future, our wars could be fought by fully autonomous weapons. While fully autonomous weapons are not a reality just yet, the Human Rights Watch has released a report in which they are appealing to the rest of the world to abandon the search and development of fully autonomous weapons, leaving an ominous warning by saying “before it’s too late”.

According to the report, the Human Rights Watch is worried about the implications of fully autonomous weapons because they would lack certain human controls about them, namely the ability to decide whether or not to kill someone, which perhaps could be thought of as mercy in some cases. The Human Rights Watch is also calling upon governments to draft an international treaty that would ban such autonomous weapons before it is too late.

Allen West, Republican Congressman From Florida, Finally Concedes 2 Weeks After The Election

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) has finally thrown in the towel.

According to a press release from the congressman: “For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly. We have made progress towards that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process. While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.”

Dissatisfied with the vote totals, West originally sought a recount in Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties, and filed injunctions to impound ballot machines.

Transgender Day Of Remembrance 2012: 50 Transgender Icons

Today is the 14th International Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day when we remember those who have been victims of anti-transgender violence.

The event was started to honor Rita Hester who was murdered on November 28th, 1998. Hester’s death launched the “Remembering Our Dead” web project in 1998 and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Transgenderdor.org notes that her murder — like most anti-transgender murder cases — has yet to be solved.

The Trans Murder Monitoring project reports that from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2011, there have been 816 reports of people who died from anti-transgender violence in 55 countries. It should be noted that this number is probably much lower than the actual figure, as it only represents known cases due to issues of language used in reporting the murders (different countries have different terms for being transgender or gender non-conforming) and due to the fact that not all trans people who are murdered are identified as trans.

Honda unveils the 2013 CR-Z Sport Hybrid

Hybrid vehicles are typically rather boring cars with the ultimate goal being fuel efficiency. Honda is showing off the new 2013 CR-Z Sport Hybrid coupe that looks much sportier than the traditional hybrid and the CR-Z is a hybrid with a more performance-tuned nature. The 2013 CR-Z Sport Hybrid will go on sale on November 21.

For the 2013 year model, the vehicle gets significant updates for powertrain, styling, and new features. One of the key new features is more power from the new lithium-ion battery pack that improves the performance of the vehicle and its EPA fuel efficiency ratings. The hybrid drivetrain system in the car uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder 16-valve single overhead cam engine with intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. That system allows the engine to produce more power.

The power of the electric motor has been increased to 2013 from 10 kW to 15 kW thanks to a high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. The CR-Z is now able to deliver a combined peak output of 130 hp at 6000 RPMs and 140 pound-foot of torque for manual transmission versions with CVT models offering 127 pounds-foot of torque.

Despite the extra power, the EPA city/highway/combined efficiency rating is up by one mpg to 36/39/37 mpg for CVT models. Six-speed manual models have ratings of 31/38/34. The vehicle also gets a number of other changes for 2013 including a revised front fascia, 16-inch alloy wheels, a new rear diffuser, a new Plus Sport System, revised interior trim, available two-tone seats, standard Bluetooth, standard rearview camera, and lots more.
