Samsung Galaxy Note 2 And Galaxy S3 Mini To Receive New Colors

A couple of the more recent Android-powered devices from Samsung, namely the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 Mini, are said to be on the receiving end of new colors in the near future. As far as we know, the general public are able to purchase the Galaxy Note 2 in either Titanium Grey or Marble White at the moment, but the future will see Amber Brown, Topaz Blue and Ruby Wine come a-knocking on our wallets sometime in the year 2013. Having sold over 3 million units, it would seem that the Galaxy Note 2 will not have any trouble remaining as one of the top choices among consumers who prefer phablets compared to regular-sized smartphones. Not only that, the new colors would make for a convenient excuse to your spouse that you need to change your ailing smartphone, no?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will soon be available in Onyx Black, Titan Gray and Garnet Red from December this year onwards, but assuming things go awry, early 2013 is still a legit date. For the moment, however, you will have to make do with just white and blue shades for the Galaxy S3 Mini. It is tipped that the new colors for both the S3 Mini and Galaxy Note 2 will be showcased by Samsung at MWC 2013.

Pandigital Stripped Via Dirt Cheap Tablets

The tablet market is certainly an interesting one, especially when you consider how there are so many players in it right now, especially those who are part of the Android ecosystem. We do have high end models that branch off to mid-range as well as entry level devices, and one can safely say that Pandigital certainly resides somewhere at the bottom of the food chain where tablets and eReaders are concerned. Well, recently, we have seen Pandigital devices make their way onto eBay as well as at other stores with prices that were set to sell under the “impulse purchase” segment – in fact, new and refurbished eReaders were going for less than $50, while there were tablets that retailed for under $70.

This could be because Pandigital declared bankruptcy this summer, and the company’s inventory is currently being sold off by liquidators who intend to recover whatever they can of the original value from Pandigital’s remaining assets, and among these include Android-powered tablets and eReaders. Who do you think in this particular market are right now own on a similar, slippery path that Pandigital is on?

Printed Circuit Board Melts In Hot Water

At the rate of smartphone and tablet adoption around the world, it goes without saying that we are faced with a very, very real issue – that our junkyards are about to be filled to the brim with electronic waste, and getting rid of them in a clean manner without causing harm to our environment is a considerable challenge. Well, scientists from the UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL) might have stumbled upon a method that will definitely keep most folks happy – by working on a printed circuit board which will actually disintegrate when it is immersed in hot water.

The board is made out of “unzippable polymeric layers”, which ironically are able to withstand prolonged thermal cycling and damp heat stressing, although they will separate from one another whenever exposed to hot water. Looks like your packet of powdered instant coffee and this new generation of printed circuit boards would make bosom buddies! Melting the board would make it a snap for resistors, capacitors and integrated circuits to be scraped off afterwards, allowing them to be reused since they remain fully intact. To sweeten the deal, this particular material can be used for flat, rigid boards, as well as for flexible electronics and three-dimensional structures.

Radley Balko: Scenes From Militarized America

These were taken during a standoff near Muskegon, Michigan.

In this case, it looks like they were responding to a domestic disturbance that had real potential for violence–the sort of situation where a SWAT response is appropriate. This was also the state police SWAT team, although Muskegon County does have its own tactical team. (Funded with federal grants and asset forfeiture funds, naturally.)

Still, why is camouflage necessary, other than to play soldier? Why the face masks? And I mean come on. A damned ghillie suit?

Samsung La Fleur Brand Headed For Galaxy S3

Samsung does have a fashionable name for one of its “brands”, where select devices that undergo the La Fleur treatment tend to be more fashion forward. In fact, the South Korean consumer electronics giant has been churning out a handful of La Fleur edition devices since the end of 2009, and it does not look as though Samsung is about to stop anytime now. We have gotten wind that there will be a new bunch of La Fleur smartphones, where the slew of them will be powered by the Android operating system, and they are the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Ace Duos and Galaxy Ace 2.

The La Fleur versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Ace Duos and Galaxy Ace 2 will arrive in the usual range of colors under that brand – which means we will be looking at plenty of white or pink, and those will be accompanied by some additional flower decoration on both sides of the handset. If you are on the lookout for older smartphone technology with a new twist on the exterior, then we are quite sure you will be happy to hear of the January 2013 release window – making it the ideal Valentine’s Day gift, perhaps?

Caption This Dumb Picture of RIM’s CEO Taking a Picture with a BlackBerry 10 Device at a Basketball Game

BlackBerry 10 is probably going to come out one day in the future, in the same way that an asteroid the size of Canada will probably hit and destroy Earth one day in the future. But regardless, some way to drum up interest is to… leak pictures of your own CEO using a pre-production BlackBerry 10 smartphone at a basketball game? I guess. More »
