GT Racing: Motor Academy gets 3 new Red Bull-themed cars

One of Gameloft’s popular mobile racing games, GT Racing: Motor Academy, is getting an update thanks to a partnership with Red Bull, which will see three new cars added to the game. The three cars are the F1 RB8 (F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel’s 2012 ride), the Camaro SS, and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, all of which are plastered in Red Bull paint schemes.

Also, Gameloft and Red Bull Media House are partnering up and hosting an international contest that can be accessed directly through the new update in the game. Gamers all around the world will be able to compete against each other in different races, and the one with the best times will get two VIP tickets to a F1 Grand Prix.

Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President of Publishing at Gameloft, says that the company is “thrilled to work with Red Bull Media House…Red Bull has been very active in the world of car racing for years, and we couldn’t be more excited to have one of our most popular racing simulations…associated with this leading brand.”

The video above shows off the three cars in action, and the update is rolling out today for the iPhone and iPad. Users who already own the game will see an update for it in their App Store app, while new users can download the game starting today that will already have the new Red Bull cars included.

BBM Video Headed For BlackBerry 10

If you are still doing your level best to keep the BlackBerry flag flying high and mighty, we commend you for your efforts, even though if many people around you think that you are on a sinking ship. Well, good news for all you faithful BlackBerry followers out there, it seems that there is enough evidence picked up to bring you word that RIM will most probably introduce a new feature for its popular BBM service, calling it BBM Video, which would mean the ability to carry out video conversations.

BBM Video is not the official name just yet as it has not been mentioned at all by any of RIM’s executives or officials, but it seems that the latest BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha update did confirm its existence thanks to a folder known as “bbm_video”, where within it lies an audio file that was named “video_chat.m4a”. What do you think? Just in case you were wondering, this is the very same file that offered a similar ringtone which is used by the video chat app on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pro Will Be Out in January—And Costs More Than a MacBook Air

Microsoft Surface RT didn’t quite live up to Microsoft’s promise of a true next-generation device, but you know what might? Microsoft Surface Pro. The good news: the Intel-powered ultrabookish tablet mash-up will be out in just a couple of months. The bad news? It might cost more than you want to spend. More »

Microsoft confirms Surface with Windows 8 Pro pricing: starting at $899 for 64GB version, shipping in January

Microsoft confirms Surface with Windows 8 Pro pricing starting at $899 for 64GB version

Details on the Pro variety of Microsoft’s Surface tablet have been hard to come by since the company first announced it back in June, but it’s filled in some big ones today. It’s confirmed in a blog post that the device will start at $899 for the 64GB model, with the 128GB version setting you back $999. Both of those are what’s Microsoft’s dubbing the “standalone” model, which means you’ll get a Surface pen/stylus, but have to shell out extra for a Touch or Type Cover (each over $100). Both will be available in January, although there’s no specific date or word on pre-orders yet.

As you can see, the device looks similar to the Surface RT, including the same “VaporMg” casing and built-in kickstand, and it also boasts a 10.6-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. A key difference with that latter bit, though, is that the screen packs a full 1920 x 1080 resolution as opposed to the 1366 x 768 found on the RT model. You’ll also get a third-gen Core i5 processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (no more specifics on that just yet), 4GB of RAM, a Mini DisplayPort that can output a 2560 x 1440 resolution, a full-size USB 3.0 port and, of course, Windows 8 Pro with support for all your traditional desktop applications. All that expectedly makes the tablet itself a bit heftier than its RT-based counterpart — it’s just over half-an-inch thick and weighs in at two pounds on the nose.

Update: The spec list confirmed that the Surface Pro will have a 42 W-h battery, but Microsoft has now also expanded on that in a tweet, saying that the device is expected to “have approximately half the battery life of Surface with Windows RT.” Based on our testing of the RT version, that should translate to just over four-and-a-half hours.

Basis Science Health Tracker

Having wealth is just not good enough these days, as having good health is also something that many people wish they had. While there are many different tools available to us as well as activities to make sure we sweat it out each day, Basis Science has something else to give you an edge – with its Basis Health Tracker that will work in tandem with a cloud-based web service. The Health Tracker is a multisensor device which doubles up as a wristwatch, where it is capable of making sure you know what the current time is, while monitoring your heart rate, sleep patterns, and how much you sweat.

Once it has accumulated the data required, it will then be compiled and presented in a useful manner, allowing you to keep track of your health trends across a period of time. The Health Tracker will retail for $199 a pop, where it relies on a novel optical blood flow sensor in order to keep track of your heart rate. It will shine a light-emitting diode (LED) light into your skin, and measure the light which bounces back in order to know just how much blood is flowing through your veins.

AT&T Is Worst Rated Carrier In US

AT&T logoAT&T, or Ma Bell as some like to call it, has picked up yet another gong that it would definitely shun to win, which is being selected as the worst-rated carrier in the US yet again. In fact, AT&T has fallen so far behind the leading major carrier, Verizon Wireless, who actually picked up honors when it came to voice and data services, at least according to a new Consumer Reports study.

The past couple of years saw AT&T arrive dead last, but you know what they say – there is a silver lining in every dark cloud, and AT&T’s silver lining would be its 4G LTE network that actually proved to beat out Verizon in 2012. This is a good stepping stone for AT&T to make sure that they continue to work on improving their services. After all, where else can you go but up when you have hit rock bottom? Of course, remaining right down in the pits is an option, but not something you would want to do, right? Here’s to AT&T cleaning up their act.
