Apple Building New Campus In Santa Clara

Apple’s spaceship-like Cupertino campus will be finished in 2016. But with four more years to go, Apple is setting up temporary offices within the city for its thousands of workers. According to Mercury News, Apple is now planning to erect two campuses on the north side of Stevens Creek Boulevard in Santa Clara. The area, which is just a walking distance from the Cupertino city limits, will reportedly host 1,200 workers.

Apple is said to have leased the 96,000 square-foot space from developer Peery Arrillaga. Peery Arrillaga will be building two six-floor building campuses and the first six-story building is expected to be completed in 2014. The second one has yet to be detailed further. These temporary offices should keep Apple’s operations moving. When the circular spaceship-like giant Campus finishes in 2016, over 14,000 employees will be working there.

Gran Turismo 5 Corvette C7 Is Playable

It has been a few weeks now that members of GTplanet and PlayStation.Blog have been speculating concerning the mysterious appearance of a camouflaged Corvette C7 that appeared in Gran Turismo 5‘s screen saver. Good to know that patience tends to dish out the best results, and it has been confirmed that the Gran Turismo 5 Corvette C7 is available, and you can download the free DLC now via the PlayStation Store.

Spy photos do point towards an estimated value of $100,000, and Chevrolet has certainly done a whole lot to disguise the test car. To ensure you have the best Corvette experience possible, a designated Corvette design team was actually given the unenviable task of developing custom camouflage in order to conceal the new design elements. The road ahead is long, as millions of hours will be accumulated via thousands of rigorous performance trials before the car will roll out later next year.

Once you’re done downloading the exclusive Corvette C7 Test Prototype, and burn some rubber on the track in Gran Turismo 5.

Ziiiro Saturn Watch: Telling Time with Rings

I’ve gotten so used to Tokyoflash having a corner on the cool digital watch market, that I’m always pleasantly surprised when another company comes along with a nifty LCD watch. Up until now, the guys over at Ziiiro have focused on analog designs (and putting too many ‘i’s in the name of their company.) Now, they’ve released a slick digital watch that can keep up with the best of what Japan has to offer.

The new Ziiiro Saturn tells time using a set of concentric circles. The 12 longer segments on the outer ring indicate hours, while the 60 smaller slivers on the inner ring tell minutes. The watch uses LCD tech for its display and offers a cool electroluminescent backlight for nighttime viewing as well.

The Saturn is available in black, gunmetal or chrome finishes, all made from stainless steel. You can pre-order the Saturn now over at Watchismo for $229.99(USD), and they expect to ship the watches this December.

Samsung Galaxy S III mini review: a small Galaxy with few stars

Samsung Galaxy S III mini review: a small Galaxy with few stars

Samsung made a bold move when it announced the Galaxy S III mini. Here was an Android phone with the potential to take the iPhone 5 head-on. While the original Galaxy S III is clearly the flagship, its 4.8-inch display means it’s literally too much for some people to handle. By matching Apple’s screen size inch for inch, it could have been pitched as a device aimed at winning over some iOS fence-sitters. However, when you look at the specifications: a dual-core 1GHz processor, WVGA (800 x 480) display and a 5-megapixel camera, it’s clear that Samsung had other ideas, opting to fish for a more mid-range customer instead.

Fast forward to the present, and it’s no longer a matter of intellectual debate as to what the mini is all about: the phone is here, and on sale in much of Europe for £299 / €379. So hubris, brand appeal and pundit talk aside, is this the real-deal Galaxy S III, just for smaller hands? Or is it a budget phone simply wearing its elder sibling’s tuxedo to the ball? We spent some time getting to know the phone in an attempt to find out.

Foldify lets you create and print 3D paper figures from your iPad

There are a lot of hobbyists out there that enjoy collecting various action figurines, but sometimes it can be fun to create your own and make them however you want. Start-up company Pixle will soon be releasing a new app called Foldify that will let you create and print out 3D paper figures right from your iPad.

From the video, the app looks to be extremely intuitive, and it lets you choose from tons of different 3D shapes. From there, you can then add color, as well as different types of eyes, noses, and mouths to create a unique face on your figurine. Then once you’re done, you can print out the layout via AirPrint and then fold together your creation.

One of the coolest aspects of the app is the preview pane, which lets you see what your 3D paper figurine looks like before you even print it out and put it together. It updates in real time and even lets you rotate it to get a 360-degree view of the figurine, that way you can correct any mistakes or improve on some areas before you print out the final product.

The app will be compatible with all iPad versions except the first-generation iPad (not enough memory), and we’re not sure if it’ll be available for the iPhone and iPod Touch or not, but either way, it looks like the type of app that would be way better on an iPad anyway. The company hasn’t released any more details on the app other than the video, but you can submit your email address to let them notify you when the app gets released.

Matt Taibbi: Election Jamie Dimon To Be Treasury Secretary Would Be ‘Revolution-Provoking Decision’

Four words that would make Matt Taibbi throw up just a little? Treasury Secretary Jamie Dimon.

That’s right, appointing the JPMorgan Chase CEO as Timothy Geithner’s successor — an idea backed by Warren Buffett — is just about enough to make the Rolling Stone columnist freak, as evidenced by this tweet:

Rider Strong Talks ‘Girl Meets World’ And Shawn Hunter’s Possible Return

Could “Girl Meets World” mean the return of bad boy Shawn Hunter? It doesn’t seem likely.

“I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story,” Rider Strong, who played Shawn for seven years, wrote on his website. “At this point, I have no official involvement in ‘Girl Meets World.’ There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years.”

“Girl Meet World,” a spinoff of the ’90s-era beloved TV show “Boy Meets World,” will center on Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga’s (Danielle Fishel) 13-year-old daughter Riley, with Cory stepping into the role of a high school history teacher.
