Courtney Stodden Booted From ‘Couples Therapy’ For Her Provocative Clothes (VIDEO)

Courtney Stodden compared herself to Erin Brockovich as she was getting thrown out of the treatment center and off of “Couples Therapy.” The issue that got her and husband Doug Hutchison booted was Stodden’s wardrobe. She was usually seen wearing midriff-baring tops and thigh-high skirts. Dr. Jenn Berman told her on multiple occasions that it was distracting to the other participants, but Stodden wouldn’t cover up.

Finally, Berman instituted a dress code for her, but even that wasn’t enough to stifle her need to bare skin. She showed up temporarily wearing a nun’s uniform — as a strange sort of protest to the dress code — but they didn’t stay on long. And so Stodden didn’t stay on the show.

She declared the dress code unfair, and then made the Brockovich comparison. “Be who you wanna be. That’s me,” she said. “I guess you could call me the 21st century Erin Brockovich. That’s me.” She didn’t, however, explain how that comparison made any sense.

Wikipad misses Halloween release date, makes pit stop for refinements

Earlier in September, we reported that the Wikipad portable handheld console was scheduled to make your Halloween a little bit brighter, Pumptris or not. Well, it is rather unfortunate to hear that the Wikipad has missed its Halloween release schedule at GameStop, as the company working on it has shared that the Wikipad will be delayed for an indefinite period of time. Unlike the majority of the other Android-powered tablets, the Wikipad actually promises to deliver special game-centric functionality, in addition to having its very own detachable gamepad.

The manufacturer of the Wikipad did step forward to share that they will need to introduce a “minor refinement” at the last possible minute prior to the product being prepared for sale worldwide. No idea on the kind of refinement that the Wikipad is undergoing, but if it is “minor” as claimed, shouldn’t it be a whole lot easier to reveal the actual release date of the device since something this simple should be able to be rectified in a jiffy? GameStop did stop taking pre-orders for the $499 Wikipad as at press time, and we hope that the company is not going to go belly up!

Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE model gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update

So, the latest version of the Jelly Bean update right now stands at Android 4.2, but this does not mean that the slew of Android-powered devices out there are already running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. No sir, a large percentage of them are still powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it will take some time before everyone gets bumped up to Jelly Bean, never mind the fact that some mobile carriers have already stepped forward to say that select devices will remain stuck on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and for older devices, the situation is more pitiful – you will just have to settle for Gingerbread as your dessert of choice.

Well, the Samsung Galaxy S3 with LTE capability in South Korea has just received the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, so if you happen to reside in that part of the world while rocking to this particular handset, good for you. The update can be applied via KIES, where you will be able to enjoy features such as Google Now, better performance, expandable and actionable notifications, and auto resize of widgets amongst others.

Windows Phone 7.8 features revealed on Windows Phone Italy Facebook page

All the talk about Windows Phone 8 in the past couple of days, and there was not even a single beep coming out concerning Windows Phone 7.8, which is said to be Windows Phone 8 Lite by some quarters. Sure, it will target smartphones which run on the Windows Phone 7 operating system which do not have the processing firepower as well as necessary hardware to make the jump to the latest Windows Phone 8, making Windows Phone 7.8 something that resides somewhere in between. It seems that the Windows Phone Italia Facebook page proved to be more generous with information compared to the rest of the folks at Microsoft, where answering a question from a fan actually revealed additional features which can be found in Windows Phone 7.8. It is rather unfortunate that the response is no longer online, which lends more credence to the things that were shared beforehand.

It seems that the new homescreen has something known as ‘Club’, where in all probability it is Rooms, Xbox Music and SmartGlass thrown into the fray. Sure, what you read on Facebook should never be taken as gospel truth at any point in time, but at least it is a start. For folks who have resisted the upgrade wave and are still rocking to Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 7.5 devices, a little bit of patience should see you enjoy the benefits of Windows Phone 7.8 in due time.

Craig Crawford: Political Cyberwarfare Hits Home (Mine!)

Has it really come to this? My blog got hacked and damn near destroyed by something called democratliarsett dot com (not linking it to spare others — and don’t bother, it’s untraceable). First, the same addy attacked my cell phone with a bunch of Obama hate texts. Then, somehow, the same source managed to login to my blog as an administrator and corrupt a whole bunch of files that will take me and my server company a couple days to sort out. Oh well, that’ll teach me to use a stronger password. Just posting this to alert other sentient beings in the blogosphere that something is afoot. My little corner of the “internets” cannot possibly be the only target.

Bill Dees Dead: Co-Writer Of ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’ Dies At 73

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) — Bill Dees emerged from his days as an out-of-cash young songwriter to pen tunes recorded by Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn and other country music greats, but the centerpiece of his career was his work with Roy Orbison, including co-writing the classic rock hit, “Oh, Pretty Woman.”

Dees, who died in Arkansas last week at age 73, had said writing that song with Orbison in 1964 changed his life. In a 2008 interview with National Public Radio, Dees recalled that the night they penned the hit song, Orbison told him he wouldn’t need to go to work that Monday if he didn’t want to.

“He said, ‘Buy yourself an electric piano, and I’ll take you on the road with me.’ And he said, ‘I’ll pay you what the band’s getting,'” Dees said during the NPR interview, which is posted on his Dees’ website.

Sony cuts Q2 2012 losses to $198 million, bumps revenue to $20.6 billion thanks to mobile

Sony's

After losing a whopping $5.7 billion last year and $312 million last quarter, Sony’s recent austerity measures seem to be paying off — the company lost only $198 million in Q2. It’s been madly restructuring since CEO Kazuo Hirai came on board last year and recently shuttered a lens plant in Japan while moving its mobile HQ from Sweden to Tokyo. Altogether, 10,000 jobs cuts are projected this year by Sony to help stanch the red ink, and it looks like it’s started to pay off. Notably, the company saw a drop in restructuring costs over last year, when it incurred charges during the sell-off of its display businesses.

Sony’s mobile operations continue to generate more revenue, gaining $3.9 billion this quarter — more than double last year’s numbers — though it still lost $296 million compared to $356 million in Q1. Its chip plants turned around last year’s $230 million Q2 loss to earn $382 million this time, likely due in part to its sensors appearing in a large number of various company’s DSLRs. Its own imaging division underperformed a bit compared to last quarter but still made a small gain, while its gaming, music and picture businesses each stayed in the black. Finally, while home entertainment products like TVs and home theater systems still lost $203 million, that’s a big improvement over that division’s dismal $526 million loss in Q2 2011.

Sony is projecting a slight drop in revenue for its fiscal year ending in March 2013, from $85 to $83 billion compared to August’s forecast. But the company kept its operating income projection unchanged at $1.6 billion — thanks to new acquisitions like cloud gamer Gaikai and Olympus, along with such products as the new 84-inch 4K LCD TV and revised PS3 gaming console.

’30 Rock’: Jenna Will Decide Who’s President, With Jack And Liz Manipulating Her All The Way (VIDEO)

Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, the networks have been shuffling programming around all week. One of the more unusual switches saw Thursday night’s “30 Rock” episode get bumped up one night, airing on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET instead. NBC decided to re-air Monday’s episode of “The Voice” during the Thursday night comedy block, but as this was Part 2 of an election-themed episode, they decided “Rock” couldn’t wait until next week after the election was over.

So fans got to see how Jenna would decide the fate of the free world a full day early. In last week’s episode, both Jack and Liz realized that Jenna could swing the entire election as the only place in the country up for grabs was northern Florida, and Jenna has a huge following there.

They spent the half-hour battling one another to try and win her vote. Through narcissistic Jenna-centric logic, both Jack and Liz manipulated her through flattery and even a bizarre mock debate. Jenna clearly had no clue who was even running, so she was their puppet — but in a way, they were her puppets, too.

Microsoft launches Windows Phone 3.0 for OS X

For those smatterings of users who own a Mac computer and a Windows mobile, Microsoft has released the newest version of what was previously called Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac. Now just called “Windows Phone,” this version 3.0 app allows users to sync their Windows Phone smartphone with their OS X machine for easy data transfer. The app has received a pretty extensive overhaul and gained many new features.

The new Windows Phone app is simplified to be minimalistic and easy to use. Changes include support for Windows Phone 8, iPhoto 9.3.2 and Aperture 3.3.2, support for Retina display Macs, and for battery charge state for Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Users can now drag and drop files from their Apple computer onto the device, and vice versa.

Using Windows Phone, users can sync movies, music, and other data from iTunes to a Windows Phone device. When transferring media files from iTunes, only DRM-free files are supported, however. Photos and videos can be synced using iPhoto and Aperture library, and can be imported from the phone into both the aforementioned apps.

Overall, this new version brings with it a sleek, uncluttered interface, which you can see in the gallery below. The host of features make using a Windows phone in a Mac world pretty easy, while the drag and drop feature for files saves time and can’t get any easier. You can pick up Windows Phone 3.0 for OS X at the App Store.
