13 Sports Rules In Need Of Immediate Change

You’ve probably seen and heard plenty about the play by now:

Houston’s Justin Forsett ran for an 81-yard touchdown, despite it being clear that his knee and elbow had touched down during the play. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz then threw a challenge flag, only NFL rules stipulate that all scoring plays get challenged anyway.

So, since Schwartz threw the flag and essentially created a duplicitous request for a review, everything is cool, right?

Razer’s Orochi gaming mouse gets laser and battery life boost

Razer has updated its Orochi gaming mouse with a new, more powerful sensor that provides better accuracy, as well as offering about double the battery life of its predecessor. You can grab the device now for the gamer on your gift list and get it in time for Christmas. The device is priced at $69.99 for those in the US, and €69.99 for those on the other side of the pond.

The Orochi can be connected two ways: wirelessly via Bluetooth 3.0, or wired for those who need a slightly more archaic connection method. The device runs a new, more precise laser, which Razer touts as the most powerful laser available in a mobile mouse. The laser sensor is a 6,400dpi 4G unit that “promises to take out the competition with deadly accuracy.”

For those who choose to use the Orochia via a Bluetooth connection, the unit is powered by two AA batteries. You can expect to get about 30 hours of continuous use, which is double the life of the previous iteration. The battery rating equals about three months of conventional usage, according to the press release.

RazerGuy Robert Krakoff offered this statement. “We want our dedicated fans to keep the ability to game at the high level they demand when they leave their home. Companies including Razer make mobile gaming laptops for that and, with those, there needs to be a mobile mouse solution. The Razer Orochi answers that need. We believe we’ve ushered in a new era of mobile gaming with the extreme performance and portability of our Blade laptop and Orochi gaming mouse.”

Mujjo Leather Touchscreen Friendly Gloves

You can more or less say that most of our modern day devices come with touchscreen functionality, and when the bitter chill of winter falls upon us, we would want to “suit up” by wearing gloves so that our digits don’t get all frozen and fall off just like that. I jest, but you get the idea of being cold, right? The thing is, not all touchscreen devices are friendly with gloved fingers, but here is the Mujjo leather gloves that are touchscreen friendly, where it will play nice with capacitive displays. Since new devices like the Nokia Lumia 920 comes with capacitive as well as pressure sensitive displays, they will work well with the Mujjo gloves, no doubt about it.

As to whether we would trumpet the “revolutionary” claim of these gloves, I leave that up to the discernment of our dear readers. It appears that each pair of Mujjo gloves have been integrated with revolutionary nanotechnology into the leather, enabling it to mimic the conductive properties of the human skin. A couple of press studs on the heel where the leather strap is fastened ensures it remains in place, and sporting a matte finishing, you won’t be a walking fashion faux pas with a pair on.

Ceton Echo Windows Media Center Extender Offers Beta Android Support

Has Christmas come early for those who picked up Ceton’s $179 Echo Windows Media Center Extender? Apparently so, as it seems that updates are on the way which will deliver the finalized Extender software, in addition to beta support for the Android platform and apps. In a specially detailed message which was sent to testers earlier this evening, there was also the inclusion of an update that will be rolling out in the next 24 hours where it will deliver a bump in the right direction to video output, upgrading it to 1080p while exposing settings for the Echo such as optical audio out, bitstreaming over HDMI or optical and diagnostics.

It does not matter if you are not all that in to the beta test but would prefer to run the latest software instead, Ceton also has you in mind, by pushing out beta InfiniTV drivers for Windows 8 users. Bear in mind that tuner bridging is not supported should the card be installed in a Windows 8 PC. Heck, it is not over yet, as a beta version of the Ceton Companion services which will connect Media Center PCs to its mobile Companion apps are also part of the mix.

Lenovo Yoga 11 On Sale

The Lenovo Yoga 11, which is the smaller sibling of the Lenovo Yoga 13, although it runs on Windows RT, is now made available for you to part with your hard earned money. The Lenovo Yoga 11 apparently appeared on their website on the quiet, where you will be able to choose from 32GB or 64GB flavors. The 32GB model is said to retail for $679 a pop, while those who figure out that they need more storage space can always check out the 64GB model at $759 a pop. Of course, while the mantra of “better be late than never” rings true, it is best to be early, no? After all, the initial announced availability was originally scheduled for a December launch.

For those of you who are wondering, the Lenovo Yoga 11 seems to be priced on the rather steep side, especially when you take into consideration that the kind of specifications it comes with are not too different from that of other Windows RT-based tablets including Microsoft’s very own Surface, the Asus Vivo Tab and the Samsung Ativ Tab. All of those mentioned models, the Yoga 11 included, come with NVIDIA Tegra 3 processors as well as 2GB RAM. Still, the Yoga 11 does boast the largest screen size among all four tablets at 11.6” in addition to carrying a full-sized HDMI port and SD memory card slot.

Ron Barber Recovering After Minor Cancer Surgery

PHOENIX, Nov 27 (Reuters) – Democratic U.S. Representative Ron Barber, a former aide to Gabrielle Giffords who was wounded alongside her in a deadly 2011 shooting, said on Tuesday he is recovering after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his tongue.

Barber, 67, beat Republican rival Martha McSally by a slender margin in the Nov. 6 election to represent southeast Arizona in the state’s redrawn 2nd Congressional District.

Barber’s office said he learned of the tumor on Nov. 13. He underwent surgery on Monday to remove the growth, and is expected to return to work in Washington next week.

“Congressman Barber was released from the hospital earlier today after a successful surgery,” Barber’s doctor, Audrey Erman, said in a statement released by the congressman’s office. “He is expected to make a full recovery.”

Barber was shot in the face and thigh on Jan. 8, 2011, when Jared Loughner opened fire at an event outside a Tucson supermarket where Giffords was meeting with constituents.

Six people were killed in the shooting spree and 13 were wounded, including Giffords, who was shot through the head. She stepped down in January to focus on her recovery. Loughner was sentenced to life in prison earlier this month. (Reporting by Tim Gaynor; Editing by Lisa Shumaker)
