LG Unveils a Gigantor 100-Inch Laser Projector: You’re Gonna Need Bigger Walls

Conventional video projectors have remained largely a niche market for dedicated home theater enthusiasts on account of their difficult installation. However, a new breed of “home projector” has developed over the past few years into an increasingly viable alternative to flat panel televisions. And if LG’s new 100-inch class LG “HECTO” Laser TV is any indicator, the LED/Plasma debate may be moot. More »

Buzzed Buzzer Party Horn Knows How Drunk You Are

buzzed buzzer Buzzed Buzzer Party Horn Knows How Drunk You AreIt is the year end again, and we would no doubt have our choice of parties to attend to usher in the new year. Depending on where you live, chances are there will be some booze at those parties, and some of us might end up drinking too much for our own good. Well, here is a party accessory that you might want to check out – the Buzzed Buzzer party horn that would find a place in any New Year’s party, although the horn works only when you have reached a certain level of inebriation. Sounds cool, no? This is a rather nifty idea of checking on the level of sobriety of revelers who could otherwise rebel against a breathalyzer examination prior to stumbling off while driving home in a haphazard manner.

The Buzzed Buzzer will rely on an Arduino microcontroller to get the job done, where it has been embedded in a standard party horn, while sporting an alcohol sensor, a wee bit of code, and a bunch of other components, with a tiny lithium polymer battery powering the entire shebang. Definitely far from being as accurate as the real breathalyzer, but at least it offers a level of protection.

Divorce-Proof Marriage: 10 Reasons I’m Sure We’ll Never Split

By Amber Doty for YourTango.com

By now, you’ve probably heard the widely-touted statistic that the divorce rate in the U.S. is 50 percent. According to the Pew Research Center, though, the rate of divorce is on the decline (along with the rate of marriage). This success is likely due, in large part, to the fact that people are waiting longer than ever to walk down the aisle.

While I agree that stability is certainly important, I don’t buy into the idea that age is a deciding factor in whether a marriage ends in divorce. It’s not the case at all with my marriage.

LG’s 2013 AV lineup puts NFC into Blu-ray player, 9.1-channel home theater

LG's 2013 home theater line includes NFCequipped 91channel surround system, Bluray player

LG is in the midst of a whirlwind tour of its 2013 CES introductions, and the next stop is its AV catalog. The running theme this year is NFC: both the BH9430PW 9.1-channel home theater and the BP730 Blu-ray player include the short-range wireless format to simplify mirroring content from your Optimus G (and, most likely, other NFC phones). The surround system also packs an iPod dock and a Private Audio Mode that funnels sound to a nearby smartphone when a quiet house is paramount. Beyond these two devices, LG promises the Bluetooth-equipped, 310W NB4530A sound bar, a ND8630 speaker dock with both Android and iOS support (including AirPlay and Bluetooth) and an NP6630 portable speaker that stuffs AirPlay, Bluetooth and NFC into its frame. We’ll know more at CES next month, but those who want LG’s overview can see it for themselves after the break.

Google Used To Track Drug Trafficking Organizations

mexican drug war Google Used To Track Drug Trafficking OrganizationsAuthorities in the U.S. are already using the Internet and Social Media to fight gangs and crimes. Now, Mexico is doing the same, using what technology has to offer to help fight Mexican drug cartels and narco violence. Harvard University researcher Viridiana Rios is one if them. Rios uses Google to track down criminal activity. And when she does, she informs the Mexican authorities about the cartel data she uncovered. “Our criminals are noisy. They hold in blankets and scenic. Discuss their exploits in digital forums and blogs,” she writes.

Game Of Thrones Is Most Pirated 2012 TV Show

gameofthrones Game Of Thrones Is Most Pirated 2012 TV ShowWhen it comes to a story that has a list, that simply resonates with the readers for some strange reason or another. I guess folks are always drawn to a “Top 10” compilation, as everyone has an opinion. Well, some of the lists do have unwilling participants, and I am not quite sure what to make of a list where the most pirated shows in 2012 are listed. Game of Thrones is right up there at the top of TorrentFreak’s list, where this information was compiled after taking into consideration public BitTorrent file trackers and other unnamed sources, where Game of Thrones hit 4.28 million downloads for a single episode. Far behind in second position would be Dexter, having being dethroned (how ironic) with 2.75 million downloads.

Folks have their fair share of theories as to why Game of Thrones topped the list, apart from the fact that it is an above average TV drama that does deserve a viewing over and over. For instance, in other countries, episodes are aired days, and in some places, weeks after they are first shown in the US, and with the world being filled with impatience, where else do desperate Game of Thrones fans turn to other than the Internet?
