VLC for Windows 8/RT/Phone hits its Kickstarter target

Good news VLC users, it looks like VLC’s Kickstarter campaign was a success with  only a few days left, which means that those looking for native VLC support on their Windows 8, Windows RT or Windows Phone 8 devices, well that looks like it will be definite possibility although at this point it is unclear as to when the software will be released, although they did announce that development for it will kick off in 2013. The folks at VLC have also come up with several new ideas that they hope to incorporate into their software once the initial release has been made, such as:

  • camera input support — This allows you to record anything your connected cameras can see and to stream it live where ever you like.
  • DLNA client and server integration — Play media stored on DLNA capable servers on your Windows RT tablet or Windows Phone — Stream everything VLC can play on your tablet or Windows 8 PC to your DLNA capable devices (Xbox, …).
  • integration with locally attached devices for media playback and synchronization
  • Smartglass support

Sounds pretty exciting, doesn’t it? In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for more information regarding the application, so check back with us from time to time as we will keep you updated on its progress.

Thinner and lighter iPad rumored for March 2013

Apple’s 4th gen iPad was launched only months ago, much to the frustration of third-gen iPad owners who might have felt a little ripped off. Well if the rumors are right, it looks like 4th gen iPad owners could be feeling the burn as well because according to the folks at Macotakara, they are claiming that according to their source, Apple is set to launch a newer iPad come March of 2013. It is expected to be both thinner and lighter, and unsurprisingly it will be borrowing design elements from the iPad mini which means that if true, Apple’s next-gen iPad will come in either black/slate or white/silver finishes. We’re not sure what to make of this rumor at this point because it would seem extremely aggressive by Apple’s standards, but then again Apple did surprise most of us with the launch of the iPad mini and the release of the 4th gen iPad, so while it might be highly suspect, we’ll be keeping an open mind for now. However until we get more details or evidence, such as leaked parts and such, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt.

‘Rattlesnake Republic’: Breaking The Record For Most Live Rattlesnakes Held In The Mouth (VIDEO)

Jackie Bibby holds all kinds of rattlesnake-related records, but he went for a new one on the latest episode of “Rattlesnake Republic.” He’s already climbed into a sleeping bag with more of the venomous snakes than anyone (109 of them), and shared a bathtub with more than anyone (195 for that one).

For his latest mark, he was set to break his own record. To beat it, he had to put thirteen live rattlesnakes in his mouth. He held them by their tails and had to keep them there for ten seconds, without getting bitten. With a live audience on hand to enjoy the feat, Jackie pulled it off.

It’s certainly a bizarre record, but Jackie seems set to hold all kinds of unique rattlesnake records. If it’s crazy and dangerous and it involves a rattlesnake, he seems game to give it a try.

Neo Geo X hacked to run Unibios, unofficial game ROMS

Neo Geo X hacked to run Unibios, unofficial game ROMS

After witnessing the fall of the DS, DSi, 3DS and PlayStation Vita, it’s no surprise to hear that the Neo Geo X has succumbed to the talents of the homebrew community, but it is a little shocking how easy the handheld was to conquer. Upon cracking the device open, enthusiasts were surprised to find no copy protection to speak of — just a lightly glued MicroSD card. The folks on the Neo Geo forum wasted no time experimenting, and soon found that the handheld’s Bios and game ROMs can be successfully swapped for new games or custom loaders. Substitute files need to retain the name of the file they replace, and swapped games remain mislabeled in the Neo Geo X menu, but the trick has already allowed some users to install the popular AES Unibios. The community hopes that the discovery will eventually allow them to tweak the handheld’s TV-out resolution and enable manual switching between AES / MVS game modes. It’s hardly a “hack,” considering the SD card is completely unprotected, but it’s a good start. Check out the source link below to peer at the device’s insides, or just to watch the community in action.

‘Outback Hunters’: Man Gets Bit By Thrashing Crocodile (VIDEO)

Mick Burbidge got ahead of himself on “Outback Hunters,” and it nearly cost him a lot. With the croc captured, but not fully subdued, Mick put his hand on the side of the crocodile.

The thrashing beast managed to sink its teeth into his hand, drawing blood. Mick snatched his hand away before any serious danger occurred, but there was another danger lurking potentially beneath the skin.

As the show explained, a crocodile’s mouth is full of dangerous bacteria. Even a small bite can lead to amputation and even death. The danger comes because the power of the crocodile’s bite digs the bacteria so deep into the flesh, according to Animal Planet.

‘Bamazon’: Chris Risks Vampire Fish Up The Urethra And Getting Cut In Half (VIDEO)

The Alabama boys of “Bamazon” ran into a real problem on the latest installment of their quest for gold in the Amazon. When a barge got stuck on a rock, crewman Chris Gamble saw no other solution than to try and dislodge it manually. To do so he had to jump in the water, and the narration made sure to let viewers know what was in there with him.

Chris was swimming with the vampire fish. “They’re said to attack human males by swimming up the urethra and lodging themselves there,” the narrator said.

But that wasn’t the only danger Chris faced in that situation. “If the barge had shifted while Chris was between the barge and the rock it could have pieced him in half,” crew boss Tim Evans said.

‘Sister Wives’: Kody Gets In Trouble When He Drops The Word ‘Obey’ To His Wives (VIDEO)

There was a time when “obey” was a part of most women’s wedding vows, but that time is not now. Still, when Kody Brown got a little tired during a road trip on “Sister Wives,” he threw that expectation out there. Needless to say, it didn’t go over all that well.

“I think that word, ‘obey,’ is in fact a four-letter word,” his wife, Christine, told him. “For you to just throw out, ‘I think you should obey me,’ … that’s offensive.”

Kody explained it away as him being cranky from the long drive. “When I’m really grumpy it’s hard to sit here and try to sell everybody,” he said. “‘Can we all leave at the same time right now? Would that be OK with all of you?'”
