LG Seeking Injunction Against Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

galaxy note 10.1 lead LG Seeking Injunction Against Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1When it comes to seeking injunctions against each other, Apple and Samsung come to mind, although lately it seems that there are other companies besides Apple who are interested in seeing some of Samsung’s products potentially banned from going on sale. According to a report, it seems that LG has filed an injunction against Samsung and they are seeking to have the Galaxy Note 10.1 banned from being sold, claiming that the tablet infringed upon LG’s patents.

The patent in question is also display related, and in this case pertains to a display technology embedded in the panel itself which is said to help enhance the visual quality regardless of the angle it is viewed at. This isn’t the first rocket fired by either company as Samsung has earlier this month sued LG for allegedly infringing upon seven of their patents regarding Samsung’s displays. According to an LG spokesperson, the company “seeks to completely stop the sale, manufacture, and importation” of the Galaxy Note 10.1. Samsung on the other hand seems to think that these claims are “unjustified”.

Toshiba will show off SDHC memory card with TransferJet tech at CES

toshiba-logoCES 2013 starts early next month and there’ll be no shortage of new devices on display at the show. Toshiba will be on hand at CES and one of the new products that it will be showing off is a slick SDHC memory card that features wireless transfer technology. Toshiba says that the memory card on display at the show will be a reference unit.

Toshiba says the product on display is under development and integrates wireless transfer technology called TransferJet. The memory card has an internal TransferJet transceiver IC, a coupler, RF filter, peripheral passive parts, a SD bridge connection circuit, and Toshiba NAND flash memory.

The memory card will have the ability to transfer data from the memory card directly to supported devices such as digital cameras and computers. TransferJet technology is a close proximity wireless transfer technology standard. Toshiba is part of the TransferJet Consortium, which includes 44 other companies.

The transfer technology provides simple connections between devices allowing high-speed data transfer with low power consumption. The technology allows users to select a file on the screen of a device to be transferred. Then the transferring device touches the supported receiving device and the data transfer takes place.

MacBook Air And MacBook Pro Rumored For Refresh In June 2013

screen shot 2012 12 28 at 1 03 19 am 640x249 MacBook Air And MacBook Pro Rumored For Refresh In June 2013If you’re thinking about picking up a new MacBook Air or MacBook Pro laptop for yourself, you might be interested to learn that according to a report by Digitimes, they claim that Apple will be refreshing both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in June 2013. Given that June is usually the time of the year that Apple holds its Worldwide Developers Conference, we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple took that opportunity to unveil any possible MacBook refreshes.

These refreshes are said to be pretty much standard fare, so don’t expect to see any major redesigns. Instead Digitimes is claiming that as far as the MacBook Air is concerned, the refreshed models are expected to include new processors, although they did not state as to what sort of specifications we could be looking at. They also suggested that MacBook Air prices could see a drop ahead of the refresh although we have to admit this is not Apple’s typical strategy. The report also claims that Apple has already issued requests to their supply chain partners to get ready to start building these refresh laptops.

China closes Internet loophole and forces Internet users to give their real names

China is famous for censoring the Internet with one of the largest nationwide firewalls in the world. China’s firewall is called the Great Firewall of China and many Chinese citizens have used loopholes in the system to get access to unfiltered news from outside the country and blocked websites such as Gmail and others. This loophole was exploited by Chinese citizens by accessing foreign VPNs to be able to access block sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and others.

Chinese authorities have known of this loophole and have only now chosen to crack down on it. The crackdown is believed to be part of a wider campaign by China to exert more control over Internet access in the country. VPN businesses in China are illegal unless they are registered with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Commercial VPN services are having trouble operating as they normally operate in China recently. Users are saying that access is often denied or crashes after using the VPN for a short time. Some experts believe that China has found a way to identify encrypted Web use and block proxy servers for those users.

While China is attacking VPN use it is also tightening control over users in China after recently making it legal to delete posts or pages that are deemed to contain illegal information. China also has new regulations that would acquire Internet users to register with their real names when signing up with network providers. China maintains that tight control over the Internet is required to keep people from making malicious and anonymous accusations online, sharing pornography, and starting unfounded rumors.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Concept Looks Stunning

While Samsung will not be unveiling the Galaxy S4 at CES 2013, it is safe to assume that sometime during next year the South Korean company will be taking the wraps off the successor to the Galaxy S3. In the meantime it has not stopped fans and designers from coming up with concepts as to what they think the Galaxy S4 should look like.

This particular concept video by rozetked shows a fictional hands-on video of the Galaxy S4 which according to them, will feature a 2GHz quad-core processor, a Full HD 1080p AMOLED display, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie running the show. This concept Galaxy S4 also comes with rather interesting accessories such as a keyboard dock that will project a laser keyboard which we can imagine will be highly convenient. It looks pretty darn amazing and we would love to get our hands on it if it were real – what do you guys think?

Goodreads Infographic: What Was The Most Reviewed Book Of 2012?

Today, Goodreads came out with an awesome infographic that reviews their past year. It reveals some pretty interesting information.

Their most reviewed book on the popular website in the last year was Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl (if you haven’t read it yet, we suggest that you do). Given the size of the site’s audience – 13 million registered users submitting over 20 million reviews – that most likely makes it the most reviewed book online this year.

Their most added quote? It was from John Green’s fantastic 2012 YA novel The Fault in Our Stars: “I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once.”
