Gun Shop Links From Medal Of Honor Site Removed

moh gun Gun Shop Links From Medal Of Honor Site RemovedMedal of Honor, a major title since 1999 (boy, has the franchise been around that long already?), has apparently seen gun shop links from its site removed. This move was implemented by Electronic Arts, the publisher of the game, after pressure from groups who have suggested that video games do play a role in inciting real-world violence. According to a representative over at EA, “We felt it was inappropriate and took the links down.” Other than those links that lead one to shops that sell actual guns, other stuff such as company logos, and descriptions of the weapons, will remain on the game’s website.

What do you think of the entire situation? On a scale of 1 to 10, just what number would you give to video games influencing kids who play it to indulge in real world violence, where the higher the number, the more prone that is to happen? Personally, I have had my fair share of Doom, Quake and even the original Medal of Honor, but that did not turn me into a bloodthirsty maniac on the streets who could not tell the difference between fiction and the real world. Having said that, there will always be a small percentage of people who are at either end of a bell curve who react differently, so this precautionary step could be a potential lifesaver – who knows? The thing is, once you draw the line, where does it stop?

Less Than 1 In 10 Americans Sleep Naked, Survey Finds

Americans are a bunch of prudes when they go to bed, according to a new study.

Less than one in 10, or eight percent, of Americans sleep naked, according to a poll of 3,700 people by linen and home décor company Anna’s Linens. Reportedly, 74 percent of Americans wear pajamas to bed, and the rest wear “something else,” according to the company, which is based in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Sadly, 65 percent said they get a “restful night’s sleep” only three nights or less per week, and 47 percent said they share a bed with someone who snores. 74 percent of respondents said they sleep on their side, which leaves 16 percent who sleep on their stomachs, and 10 percent who sleep on their backs.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) caused a stir on Thursday by saying that President Barack Obama had sent over a new fiscal cliff proposal to Senate Republican leaders — a key development that nobody else had heard about.

“Heading back to dc. Just learned that the Pres. reached out to Senate GOP leadership with a proposal. It is the first such proposal to be put forth. Eager to see why it is. How it is serious,” Brown wrote on his Facebook page.

He tweeted shortly after, “Getting on place to DC to review plan from Pres. We will see. Better late than never.”

Facebook For Windows Phone 2.8 Released

facebook wp Facebook For Windows Phone 2.8 ReleasedAre you one who cannot live without your social network account working in full swing? If you have answered in the affirmative, chances are you own a smartphone or tablet (most probably the former) which also sees most use of the Facebook app, even more so than the phone and text messaging functions themselves. Well, Windows Phone users, here is some good news for you – the Facebook for Windows Phone has just gotten an update to version 2.8, and while there was no change log listed down in the release, those who have given the app a software version bump would do us a great favor if you could share any of the more notable changes that you have experienced. We do know that its previous update (version 2.7, of course) came with its fair share of bug fixes and performance improvements, so we figure that the same can be said of version 2.8 as well.

What you see above are screenshots of Facebook for Windows Phone running on Windows Phone 7.8, and it seems that one is able to conjure a double-wide tile on the double (sorry, I could not resist that), while it will rely on your banner image or last status update to make up the banner’s content.

‘Panic Exits’ For Delaware Schools Proposed By State Sen. Dave Lawson

A Delaware state senator wants to install “panic exits” in schools that would allow for a rapid escape in the case of an emergency.

Republican state Sen. Dave Lawson says escape doors in ground-floor classrooms would be a better safety solution than school lockdowns.

“A lockdown places the children in much more danger,” Lawson said in a statement to WDDE-FM. “They’re locked in a room where they’re at the mercy of an assailant. This is the problem, they’re trapped. With an escape door they would be out of the danger zone in seconds.”

Spigen SGP SGP10091 Armor Slim Case for iPhone 5 Review

The case we’ve got here from Spigen SGP is easily the most form-fitting unit we’ve get had our hands on for the iPhone 5, and it’s quite the looker, too. This is the Spigen SGP SGP10091 Armor Slim Case for iPhone 5, and after you’re done with that mouthful, you’ll want to know that works with both a relatively hard-yet-rubbery TPU base and a polycarbonate midsection for both a bounce-factor and a hardcore beat-up protection assurance.

first

This case comes in three different color combinations, the one we’re working with here called Satin Silver. The other two options are Metal Slate and Gunmetal – very fashionable indeed. The different centers and covers are interchangeable, too, so if you’re thinking about getting the full collection, you can mix light and dark! We’re all about the light with our White iPhone 5, mind you.

This case allows a rectangular opening for your mute switch / rotation lock that’s accessible but not overly wide. Your volume buttons are covered by the TPU casing with + and – symbols so you still know what you’re pressing, the same being true of your power/lock button up top (without the symbols). On the bottom of the device you’ve got a slim opening for your Lightning port wide enough for your standard Apple Lightning cord.

bottom

The bottom also has a set of grilles that allow your audio to continue blasting forth from your device like wild. The headphone port – one of the most important points on any case for case maniacs like us – is slightly wider than the hole – as it should be! Spigen SGP makes a point of noting that Apple EarPods and “earbuds with L-shaped plug (within 6.17mm diameter) including Beats by Dr.Dre” are compatible with this case specifically.

The case is next-to-weightless, super-thin, and protective, available starting this week for $17.99 MSRP in stores that carry fine cases galore – go grab one!

Hyundai Connectivity Concept Gives NFC-enabled Phones Power Over Your Car

Hyundai Connectivity Concept Gives NFC enabled Phones Power Over Your Car

Last week, we heard about Toyota’s 2013 Avalon being equipped with a Qi wireless charging system, and as cool as that was, Hyundai’s plans for its upcoming vehicles is way cooler.

Hyundai’s Connectivity Concept is scheduled to be included in its 2015 model vehicles and will give its users the power to control their vehicle with their NFC-enabled smartphone rather than the metal keys we’ve been lugging around in our pockets for years.

lg smarttv game LG Offers Games For Cinema 3D Smart TVsAll work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and it does not matter whether your name is Jack or not – you do not want to end up being the dullest tool in the shed in this day and age. Which is why if you are considering to pick up a brand new TV for the living room, might I suggest the possibility of the LG Cinema 3D Smart TV? After all, this bad boy is said to come with a bunch of new games, where these hand-picked titles are said to offer some of the best family-friendly, interactive fun in town – at least on a Smart TV, that is.

Some of the popular titles on smartphone and tablet platforms include Where’s My Water, The Sims FreePlay, Air Penguin, and Mini Motor Racing among others. You will be able to enjoy all of these thanks to the new and improved motion-sensing Magic Remote from LG that we talked about sometime before Christmas.

Some titles have been optimized for 3D as well as support LG’s Dual Play feature to deliver two-player gaming, and with LG’s FPR 3D technology, each player can check out their character in full screen without having to rely on the more common split-screen view. Expect to download these titles from LG SmartWorld in the beginning the first quarter of next year. [Press Release]

Ed Markey, Massachusetts Congressman, Announces Run For John Kerry Seat In Special Election

Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) is running for the seat expected to be vacated by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) upon his confirmation as secretary of state, the Boston Globe reports Thursday.

“I have decided to run for the U.S. Senate because this fight is too important,” Markey said in a statement to the Globe. “There is so much at stake.”

Markey is the first major candidate to announce a run, while Reps. Mike Capuano (D-Mass.) and Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) have also signaled interest in running. Defeated Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) has not said what he will do, but would be a strong candidate in a special election given his personal popularity.

City College Of San Francisco Implements Major Changes To Avoid Closure (PHOTOS)

It hasn’t been an easy year for the City College of San Francisco.

In July, the two-year college, the largest in the entire state of California, received a letter from the community college commission threatening to strip the school of its accreditation due to poor leadership and lack of adequate resources. No accreditation would deem CCSF ineligible for state funding, which would all but guarantee its closure.

In the wake of closure threats, instances of the school’s flagrant mismanagement came to light, including a review that found 92 percent of its spending allocated towards faculty salaries and benefits.
