Windows RT ported to HTC HD2

We’ve seen the HTC HD2 running essentially every mobile operating system from its birth till now, but nothing could have prepared us for this: hackers have ported in Windows RT! This operating system is meant to be a sort of half-way point between full-on desktop mode and mobile for the Windows tablet universe hoping to join in on the Windows 8 fun – it’s creators certainly never intended it to be worked with on a smartphone. But there it is, on the HTC HD2, no less, the most-hacked smartphone of all time, without a doubt.

What we’re seeing here is a set of users, both CotullaCode and StroughtonSmith, working together to bring this tablet-loving OS to the smartphone. This user interface is made for much larger devices and certainly wont be widely used by smartphone hackers, thus exercise thusly made real for the fun of it – or for the challenge of it, of course. You’ll see int he gallery below a set of shots of the OS working on the old HTC Windows Mobile device, with the name “LEO computer” simple to see.

At the moment we’re not being told how it was done, but our friendly source assures us that “it was helped by the EFI implementation he wrote for WP8.” This of course refers to the Windows Phone 8 hacking of the HTC HD2 from earlier this year – just near the end of November 2012, that is. You’ll see this and a collection of other HTC HD2 ports in the timeline near the end of this post.

Meanwhile you’ll want to know that this hack is not for the faint of heart, nor is it for the public. At the moment, the creators have no intent of sharing their precise method nor an instructions manual for the meek. You’ll just have to close your eyes and imagine the possibilities.

– Thanks for the tip, Steve!

‘Parks And Rec’ Launches Rent-A-Swag Pinterest Page (PHOTO)

Parks and Rec” has launched a Pinterest page devoted to Tom Haverford’s (Aziz Ansari) new business, Rent-A-Swag.

The entrepreneurial “Parks and Rec” character started his own business of renting his absurd clothes to teens so they can look great for cheap. The page is filled with shots of Tom modeling some of the flyest clothes to ever grace the streets of Pawnee, Indiana. Yep, even the “Drive” scorpion jacket is there.

HuffPost TV selected one of our favorite shots and shared it below. Click here to see the rest of them.

Kid’s Spaceship Bed: To Sleep and Beyond!

There are cool dads and there are awesome dads. Redditor JeremiahGordon is the awesome type. You see, he built this cool spaceship his son Finn’s fifth birthday – and it is completely amazing.
spaceship bed

He made a loft platform for the bed, with portals that look out into space, and then created a spaceship control room in the space below the bed. Most dads would have stopped at the loft platform. Dad pieced together the master control board from junk he found in a television station’s dumpster. They weren’t using the stuff anymore.

It has so many switches and levers that this kid will never go to bed on time again. I hope he grows up to be an Astronaut, or at least do something this cool for his own kids when he’s older. Though he could just grow up to be a TV director.

A Rare Promo Code For Stylish People Is Your Dealzmodo-Exclusive Deal of the Day

Although the deals universe is waking up from its pre-Christmas torpor and shifting into a Boxing-week frenzy, it’s a different kind of sale we’re seeing. Instead of promo codes that take a percentage off everything in the store, we’re seeing sale sections balloon. That means instead of deals on stuff you actually want, a lot of sales this week are deals on stuff that nobody wanted—and that’s why those products are on clearance. More »

Foursquare Offers Curiosity Explorer Badge To NASA Fans

foursquare curiosity badge Foursquare Offers Curiosity Explorer Badge To NASA Fans

When Curiosity made its famous Mars landing this past summer, it started its very important mission to study the mysterious red planet to discover a number of things, including if we could one day treat Mars as a second home.

Today, NASA is announcing another important mission that includes you, your smartphone and Foursquare as you can add an exclusive Curiosity Explorer badge to your collection when you like NASA on Foursquare and check into a planetarium, science museum or NASA visitor center. Just don’t plan on becoming the mayor of Mars any time soon as we believe Curiosity has got dibs on that achievement for a long, long time.

If you’re one of those people who believes they don’t need no stinkin’ badges, then you’re extremely mistaken as a Curiosity Explorer badge will certainly get you the attention you’ve been craving from all the Big Bang Theory-watching honeys at work. If not, then at least you’ll have a neat badge that’s… out of this world!

The Walking Dead retail release plagued with freezing issues on Xbox 360

Those who received a physical copy of The Walking Dead on Xbox 360 for the holidays are experiencing some rather game-breaking issues. It appears that some players are having to deal with freezing and stuttering while playing the game. If you’ve ever played one of Telltale’s titles, you know that most of them make good use of quick time events – those aren’t very easy to complete if your game is stuttering or freezing entirely.

Indeed, in posts on Telltale’s forums, some users are saying that the stuttering issues are make it impossible to complete quick time events, thus making it impossible to progress in the game. It gets worse too, as stuttering and freezing aren’t the only issues players are experiencing. Some are attempting to begin episode 2 only to have the game drop them back at the beginning of episode 1.

There are even some who are saying that their choices aren’t transferring from chapter to chapter – for instance, a character who died in episode 1 is suddenly alive in episode 2, while those who made it to end of the first episode are nowhere to be found in the second. These are all pretty big problems, so it’s no wonder players have flocked to Telltale’s forums to complain. Telltale has released a statement on the issues, saying that they seem to only affect 4GB Xbox 360 Slims. That doesn’t appear to be the case though, as people using other Xbox 360 models are reporting problems with their game.

In any case, Telltale says that it will continue investigating the problems and will hopefully have more information on them soon. Here’s hoping these issues get ironed out quickly, because Telltale has quite a few fans asking for a refund at the moment. While these problems persist, it might be a better idea to go for the downloadable version of The Walking Dead if you’re planning to play through it on Xbox 360.
