Less than a couple days after Rovio teased a new update for Angry Birds Star Wars, the company has released the Escape from Hoth update, which adds 20 new levels to the game, as well as new types of enemies. Plus, there’s new bonus levels that introduce more boss fights. It’s a free update, so if you already have the game, it’s certainly worth checking out.
Most notably in this update is the infamous asteroid field that was featured in the movie, where the gang had to navigate their way through the whole mess. In the game, you make your way through the asteroid field while trying to take down the enemies as well, which now include the “mynock pigs,” which are essentially pigs with bat wings that can float in mid-air instead of simply sitting atop rocks and other surfaces.
The video doesn’t show us a lot of the new update, so if you really want to find out what you’ll be getting yourself into, we suggest firing up the game and checking out the new levels. However, we ended up checking it out for ourselves and we have to see we really like what we see. The mynock pigs are especially cute, and navigating the asteroid field is definitely a new experience that we find both challenging and exciting.
The update is available for iOS and Android versions as we speak, and it should be hitting Windows Phone and BlackBerry here shortly. The update will also be available for the Kindle Fire version, as well as on OS X and Windows. The game is free on Android devices, while it costs $0.99 on iOS, and $4.99 on the desktop.

Last month, the great white shark entered the surf zone in Jacksonville, Fla., causing a stir. Now, the 16-foot, nearly 3,500-pound shark has entered waters where movie legend meets reality.
The Long Island, N.Y., coast — the fictional town of Amity to be exact — served as the setting for “Jaws,” the blockbuster book and 1975 movie about a great white on a killing spree. On Wednesday, the region served as the very real Mary Lee’s personal swimming hole.
At an average of more than $300 a night, room rates at the new Gale South Beach and Regent Hotel set the tone of what to expect at this $35 million investment from Menin Hotels.
Located on the southwest corner of 17th Street and Collins Avenue, this boutique hotel captured my attention from the moment I stepped foot on the property and my eye caught the entry light fixtures — turns out, they’re replicas of the originals.
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department on Thursday filed a lawsuit to stop Anheuser-Busch InBev’s proposed $20.1 billion purchase of Mexican brewer Grupo Modelo, which would unite the ownership of popular beers like Budweiser and Corona.
The government said the deal could lead to higher beer prices in this country because it would substantially reduce competition in the U.S. beer market, particularly in 26 metropolitan areas. It said the merged firm would control nearly half the beer sales in the U.S.
Ryan Gosling is seeking tax credits from the state of Michigan to direct his first movie, “How To Catch A Monster.”
MLive reported that Gosling applied for the tax credit through the Michigan Film Office, and plans to shoot the movie in Detroit, beginning in May. His “Drive” costar Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) is billed as the lead actress, ostensibly playing “Billy,” a single mom of two who works at a fetish club.
Gosling, who wrote “How To Catch A Monster,” bills the film as an intriguing mix of fantasy noir, horror and suspense. Set against the backdrop of a vanishing city, Billy is ” swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld.”
The Family Research Council‘s Tony Perkins slammed the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community yet again, linking the controversial repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy to a reported surge in U.S. military suicides.
“The stress in our military, when you look how they have used the military for their social experimentation: driving Christianity out, putting homosexuality in, suicide rate going through the ceiling,” Perkins declared in a radio spot, as Right Wing Watch first reported. “I think it was last year, if I recall, the numbers there were 349 suicides in 2012 and I believe that’s more than were killed in combat, that’s the highest number since the Pentagon began tracking suicides back in 2001.”
You can listen to audio of Perkins’ statements here.
